It's a different pirate. For one thing, he's clearly not played by Tom Kenny. I think it's Antonio Banderas?
Think that's a different pirate. Patchy isn't this movie, is he?
One thing that bugs me really hard is the pirate, he wasn't evil, he just was a fan of Sponge Bob, why make him evil?
Pretty sure that's a different pirate.
The trailer made me groan, but apparently Hillenburg is involved so I'll see how it goes. I do kind of wish they'd kept this effect though:

Looks okay to me.
>No Mermaid man or Barnacle Boy
>No Man Ray or the Dirty Bubble
>No" Elastic Waistband" Patrick, "Miss Appear" Sandy, "Captain Magma" Squidward, or "The Quickster" Spongebob
>No League of E.V.I.L.
How do you miss such an opportunity?
1/10, see me after class
I'm willing to bet that the last pape is the Krabby Patty secret formula, which knowing modern SpongeBob, will still never be revealed in the movie.
wouldnt be revealed if it was the old spongebob either

Mermaid Man VA is dead. RIP Ernest Borgnine.
>No Mermaid man or Barnacle Boy
Guy that voiced Mermaid Man is dead. I was under the impression that they stopped doing Mermaid Man/Barnacle Boy episodes, but they had some other guy voice him.

Those where my favorite episodes. I would have seen the movie in a heartbeat if any of those references made it in.
This legitimately makes me sad.
must go to this very very under the influence

IIRC they had Adam West and Burt Ward for an episode featuring younger versions of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.
So the pirate guy has the book from Death note?
Actually it sounds like he has the typewriter from Alan Wake.
wouldnt be revealed if it was the old spongebob either
True, but old SpongeBob didn't have the audacity to advertise a special where the formula would finally be revealed but turned out to be a crock of shit.
Rating traps are the worst.

is this real

This is probably more entertaining then this movie will be.
It seems like a funny movie for kids. If I was 10 again, I would probably die laughing at this trailer
It's interesting how they managed to make the characters look like they're actually on land. I'd say it's a result of them maintaining the correct animation style and just applying proper lighting effects
[editline]31st July 2014[/editline]
The thing with the writing, though, is that it feels like the writers have lost grasp of what the show was originally about and flanderized pretty much everyone in the show
I'm just happy this doesn't look godawful terrible like the recent Fairy Odd Parents liveaction movie. I don't see it being spectacular, but they're at least putting effort into it.

Stephen Hillenburg is working on the film, so I think it may be good.
Should've been a full movie about The International Justice League of Super Acquaintances tbh.
Captain Magma would've taken the pirate out in one hit.
[sp]krakatoa[/sp]
The trailer started off pretty good, but it all went down hill when they turned CG and got superpowers and shit.
Robo-Krabs looks like he came straight out of Futurama
[sp]not bad[/sp]
the 3d characters actually kinda... work?
Not gonna lie, that Road Warrior bit was pretty funny.
They look like plastic, they should've just stuck with the 2D style.
They look like plastic, they should've just stuck with the 2D style.
I think plastic is what they were going for. They wanted to emphasize that these were cartoon characters in a live-action environment, and there's no better way to do that than by making them look artificial. Regardless, they look real.
Looks terrible
i laughed and laughed all the way up until it wasnt a cartoon anymore
Looks like a kid's movie, with its quality as expected.
I might go see it for cheap, immature laughs.
