They'll never be able to top the first one, tbh

Looks actually alright. Not worth the effort of seeing it in cinema but maybe when the DVD's like £3 in Tesco. :v:
ugh the super powers bit ruined it for me
along with aforementioned flanderization of the series itself. the voices sound way too different and plastic to me.
What the hell? Was Krabs actually a robot the whole time? That's like a twist that took 13 years to play out. They're really in it for the long con.
I'm surprised, it doesn't look half bad. I doubt it's gonna be better than the first spongebob movie, but it probably will be pretty decent. Given how crappy the cartoon itsself was getting, it's good to see a decent thing with Spongebob in it again.
I kinda wish they'd stuck with the style they had before though for the first movie where they were animated but in real life as well, kinda Roger Rabbit style
Why do they not have to wear "mobile fishbowls" anymore?

-snip I was confused-
The thing with the writing, though, is that it feels like the writers have lost grasp of what the show was originally about and flanderized pretty much everyone in the show
I'm pretty sure all/most of the original writers left after the first movie, which is why it's been going downhill ever since.
So basically lets throw the first movie and any references to dry land from the past, literally out of the water.
I would never try to make sense of continuity in Spongebob.
the writers confirmed that the first movie is the last thing in the continuity.
Not a single joke made me exhale air from my nose
0/10 you tried
Spongebob has gone downhill since the original writers left. The adult jokes just aren't there anymore, the genius comedic timing is gone, and it has become more of a sitcom than a cartoon.

You need to censor that. Mods??

I watched this one night out of borderom and never again, so fucked up
I honestly think it looks great, I don't get why people hate it so much and current spongebob.
Looks pretty good. "Giant hairy porpoise" got me.
I was sorta sceptical looking at the stills but the style actually works a lot better when you see it moving
They've found the balance between the uncanny valley and being too stylised to fit in
I really can't agree, it's uncanny as fuck in my opinion.

Because they are an inconvenience and the producers say fuck that.

What circumstances in that guy's life led up to him having sex in a spongebob costume? Like, what could possibly make someone to agree to do that.

"Hey wanna get paid to have sex?"
You guys are right, as the target audience of the spongebob movie, nick should listen to us about what the spongebob movie should be about because we watched it when it was objectively better and aimed at a different generation
idk about this movie, but I really like the way they made the 3d characters
I do wish they named Patrick's superhero something other than "Mr. Super-awesomeness".
Awesome is one of those really irritating buzzwords nowadays, like "epic" was a few years ago.

Which is why Patrick choosing this name is quite fitting

People are still [del]misusing[/del] saying "epic" to an equally irritating degree. It's worse since I see lots of commercials use that word.
The animation looks really nice.
Especially for a movie that combines Cartoon 3D with Real life.
I don't know, I've always had a weak spot for stupid humor so I laughed way too hard at the "vandalism" portion and at Patrick dropping the cannon ball on his head.
My best friends adoration of Spongebob (or at least before it turned horrid and unfunny) is a running gag in our group of friends so I'm sure I'll go and laugh a shameful amount
The modern spongebob is so badly written in comparison to the early episodes. I just can't stand it. All the characters feel like weird fake replicas of the originals.
thats quite surprising, ill definitely check this out when it comes out

You know what childrens films usually become the classics? The ones that adults can usually enjoy too.
