good EP, best EP
Been months since i posted so hello again!
So here
Glasgow local punk band <3
The lack of The Misfits in the OP's post disturbs me... by far my favorite punk band (both Danzig and Graves eras) and one of the best and most influential.
influential only in the long run. I love to listen to them but most bands they've influenced are garbage

I hear they had great live shows, but I can't really stand much more than Static Age. They rode their horror-rock gimmick too far imo
walk among us is good as well they just went into boresville after danzig left (and danzig went to shit after 1988). id still see em live if I had the chance I guess

I wouldn't FUCK Danzig, he's a giant man child. after the shit he's pulled I wouldn't give him an of my money.
old news but: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=73589
I mean, come on, that's just bad showmanship.
yeah he's shit now but the fact still remains it was all danzig writing and all Only attitude. without the combo there's really not much there
I've taken up karate and i've bought myself a gun
Next time they wanna beat up a punk i'm gonna have myself some fun
speaking of buying a gun

On the subject of the Misfits.....did anyone notice the song "Walk among us" is not on the Walk among us album?
I've been trying really hard today to find new ska-punk. Not going to hot, though I have found a couple of decent bands.
Anyway I've been meaning to come here and ask this for like two weeks.
More stuff like this: that screamy, loud, jazzy stuff.

After Micheal Graves left and Jerry Only revived the band, that's when they started to get horrible to me.
I see it as this:
Danzig - Started The Misfits, founded that genre and is credited as one of the greatest or atleast most recognizable punk bands of all time. Great Songs.
Graves - Picked up after Danzig left and changed the sound, but didn't make it worse. Love most Graves Misifts stuff, especially Famous Monsters.
Jerry Only - Drove The Misfits into the ground. I blame him for all the crap the Misfits have gone through, second to him would be Danzig.

None of that was really loud, screamy or funky/jazzy.
Except for the Flaming Tsunamis. They were a little too poppy. More in the direction.

Speaking of S.O.D. Ministry's new album has a cover of United Forces:

So, for sake of conversation; where do you draw the line between punk and pop-punk? What about the Ramones? Ramones styled bands: the Queers? Screeching Weasel? Sloppy Seconds? How about bands like NoFX? Guttermouth? I'm just curious about all of your personal opinions. Either way I love those bands.

Fatter than Albert is plenty jazzy where are you not hearing it?

the line of pop punk is clear. Good "pop punk" has a real sense of humor and is sincere. Bad pop punk is clearly fake, pandering to a specific audience, and is poppy just so it will appeal to a greater audience, rather than because its fun.
I think NOFX is one of the worst 'punk' bands, but that is my opinion. I also don't count them as punk, more like pop-punk-rock.
Another thing, what really separates pop punk and punk for me is the voice

Maybe it's a nostalgia thing for me, but I love NoFX. They were one of the first bands I found when I first started looking for music on my own.
Also, vedicardi pretty much speaks the truth on pop-punk.
