it's pop punk and it sucks who cares i just dont want to see it in this thread

kinda in the minutemen vain, 80s post punk sorta thing with a tinge of pop. very Wire-y
[editline]25th May 2011[/editline]
afi has never been hardcore (it's melodic hardcore geeze) and ST and GG are both crossover thrash (excluding both of their first albums (or EPs for gang green))
[editline]25th May 2011[/editline]
read the top of the OP before posting thanks
You're an elitist prick, I don't really like you. Pop punk is not shit just because you don't like it. It is just as punk as any other subgenre.
About AFI: they have crossed many genres, hardcore, horror punk, screamo, post-hardcore. Again, you're very elitist.
they are shit, pop punk is shit. it is ANTI PUNK.
sorry. cry me a river
it's myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thread

Explain how the fuck they are "anti-punk".
now shoo you blink 182 green day fucks
[editline]25th May 2011[/editline]
commercialization is the antithesis of punk DIY idealogy. punk is about being yourself, pop is about fitting in with the mainstream and pandering to popular culture rather than creating your own

Oh, so you're one of those guys who screams sellout as soon as a band signs to a major label, even after years of hard work.

pop punk bands are popular because for years they subscribed to punk ideologies, and their work payed off. it's not like as soon as blink182 signed to a major record they dropped the punk mentality. fuck, they still have it to date. you're incredibly pretentious, and that's fucking sad coming from someone who claims to be punk.
go fiddle with your dick

if they are a punk band, yes? lol
not for any other genre

they never had the punk mentality, they had a 12 year old boy that wants to win his girlfriend over by playing guitar mentality. that is not punk. punk is about hate and rage and wanting things to change, not writing songs because your girlfriend asked you to
[editline]25th May 2011[/editline]
and I have never claimed to be a punk so I don't know what the hell you're going on about there
the fucking DESCENDENTS.
Everyone who wants to discuss pop punk and post-hardcore, make a new thread, because it's vastly different from punk and hardcore.
the fucking DESCENDENTS.
[editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
but yeah husker du just went kinda post punk. even their first major label album still has some hardcore on it
Speaking of Post-Punk, is that cool here? I have mixed feelings about if it really belongs in Punk or not.
somebody explain crust punk to me
somebody explain crust punk to me
I think it's best explained as Punk music with metal tempos.
awesome, must get some
Why? It's just as punk as anything else. If you're creating a punk mega(super)thread, why disallow discussion of a few specific subgenres you don't particularly enjoy?
Seriously why not just allow post hardcore? This is a hardcore thread and post hardcore is still hardcore. Do we really need to make a separate thread for post hardcore because thats ridiculous
yes because it sucks and it's absurdly commercialized pop garbage
not in my thread please

Fine if youre going to really be that picky because of your opinion then I'll make a subgenre thread
somebody explain crust punk to me
my favorite crust punk
it's kinda like grind but a bit less extreme and more crunchy as opposed to distorted. it eventually did just evolve into grind, as well as black metal. you'll be able to hear that loud and clear.
some of my favorites:

I always seen them labeled D-Beat, Crust and Hardcore so never really know what to place them under. I'm still rather new to punk since it's not my main thing. I got into it Punk in general from Black/Punk, Blackened Crust and Black Metal in general.
awesome, must get some
oh fuck yeah midwest shit. love these guys. First record (which the song you posted was from) are amazing, the follow up full album has a few equally great tracks.
If you like them, seriously check out husker du's first album (which is live)

"strange week" from this record is one of my favorite songs of all time no doubt. Such an incredible jumpy rhythm.
And guns at my school is amazing, so is ultracore, do the bee, I could go on
[editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
push the button's chorus is awesome too.
necros are another amazing midwest band, as well as articles of faith and naked raygun
[editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
