It was widely used by English-speaking forces during the 1st World war, along with "Boche." Dunno where that one came from.
During the next war, they stopped using those names and started calling the Germans "Kraut" and "Jerry."
Interesting. For part of my course of design in college, we studied the use of propaganda posters. Nice to see some here from other countries.
I wish we could of made some in school, I think we were supposed to, but our teacher didn't get around to it.
