It's kind of sad really. Since the beginning, man has always came up with the date when things would end. No one actually knew, though. The beginning of the end happened slowly. You know, it's hard to explain but I'm going to try my best. The biggest world superpower was brought to it's knees. It's economy crumbled and the rest of the world relied on it's market too. When there's no money there's no humanity. It's every man for himself. World relations weren't that great either. It was the fucking middle east. Blah blah blah! IT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS INEVITABLE. We knew this would happen. World War III! Yep. Some fucking idiot politicians started it too. Not the people. The politicians. You also had a rotting society that contributed too. Those secret organizations, those places where people gathered, those forums. The war didn't turn out the way they said it would. It wasn't going to be a 6 month mission. Get in, get out. They said it would be, but it didn't seem like it. The draft. Oh my god the draft. Seemed like every healthy male was being sent over there. Thousads dead... bodies piled up. Civil unrest. Riots. More terrorist attacks... more natural disasters. Typical apocalypse bullshit.. Once the shit hit the fan and you knew society was doomed, it was mass hysteria. You had those exclusive gangs hording all the food, the families trying to survive, the lone rangers, the suicidies. Hah, seemed so weird at first. You also had that 60% of the population dropping like flies. The war eventually ended in the middle east but not because we chose to. With people dieing, you had noone to work. Which meant no electric. Civil wars actually. If you didn't die from the plague, you died from rioting. You only survived if you were smart. Not book smart. Street smart. Only the top dogs got it. Fucking rich people were safe. They had people to protect them. And the president, those politicians, senators. It was marshal law with no one to enforce it. What you wished would end never ended. Nothing would be the same. The people that you loved that died, they weren't coming back. Society wasn't coming back. True human nature come out. Rape, killing, stealing. I mean, what else would you do? 50 years from then we would probably all be dead. Who knows. We'll see. I gotta get packing anyway. I'm going west to see if my folks are still alive.
It would have been cooler if not for the retarded grammar errors, the way you got the background and facts all wrong, and how serious you are. Just to clarify, is this some short story or teenage angst? If it's a short story, creationism corner, please. If it's teenage angst, creationism corner, please.

The thing with almost any end of the world thing is, most if not all of them caused by man we would survive. It would just be like a restart. We might keep some or most of our tech, but socially and politically and economically, we would have a restart. The only thing that can kill all of us is if a massive asteroid hit Earth, or when the Sun goes supernova. We could probably move planets by the time the Sun goes supernova, and with the asteroid, by the time something like that happens, we could probably guide it away before it hits. If/when we colonize other planets. humans will be pretty much invincible.
blahblahblahpeopledead
Rated disagree for being unrealistic
need that video in the simpsons when lisa has to do an assignment of the world in 50 years.
And war... war never changes.
What.

Derailment aside, five billion years is quite the head start for mankind to stop dicking around on Earth and become the spacefaring civilization that, in my opinion, we are capable of.
Fucking rich people were safe.
No. Actually, after a massive riot like that, the system falls down, and it's leaders with it. The point is that the ones who drove the riot, become the new system leaders. fuckin' vicious cyrcle, bro.
is there a reference that i am missing?
If the end is near then whats the point to going to school and to study really hard? My luck I'll go to college and once I get out the world will fucking end.
I've done A LOT of research into this (more so than most of the doomsayers). Sociaty and civilization is actually both stronger and weaker in ways we don't think. there are 2 scenario's in which civilization would truly collapse 1: Two very carefully timed medium scale natural disasters in 2 major countries at the same time or very close together at the time of an economical depression 2: Time, looking at what life was like in 1990, then again in 2000, now in 2010 we are less than 20 years away from either a major rethink in how the world is run, or a full collapse of society. In either scenario the collapse wouldn't be sudden, it would very slowly get worse, so slow that a majority wouldn't notice, there would be an eventual breaking point
In my opinion I don't think there will ever be a nuclear holocaust as which country is dumb enough to start a nuclear attack? There is nothing to win by starting an attack. Apart from North Korea there are no politicians that intent on destroying the world. Besides King Jon Il has only got a few more decades in him before he kicks the bucket. There's no point in worrying about what is out of our control as being a whingey bitch isn't going to change anything.
Why does no one ever write anything happy?
Don't fret, I write stories dealing with issues such as guys smoking Chronic on the roof of their building and pissing on the hat of a police officer, so all is not lost
The draft. Oh my god the draft. Seemed like every healthy male was being sent over there
Isn't that what a draft is?
There have been wars before. And ehhh, money gone? Money has to go somewhere, no matter what... I mean seriously, you buy some product, the money has to go somewhere, I mean really. Only problem I see is stuff getting higher prices, so yeah. (Just realized higher prices also mean sellers getting more money, it's a cycle) EDIT: Another problem I see is, rich people getting all money and keeping it, not using it whatsoever. In that case people would lose money, while others earn and keep it.
Shouldn't this be in Creationism Corner?
The biggest world superpower was brought to it's knees. It's economy crumbled and the rest of the world relied on it's market too.
China is large enough to be relied upon for the majority of trade in the world and assuming your story is a little way off into the future, China is likely to have surpassed the US in GDP.
Some fucking idiot politicians started it too. Not the people. The politicians. You also had a rotting society that contributed too. Those secret organizations, those places where people gathered, those forums.
It's not very realistic to assume a general shift in values for the entire world. (Just realized higher prices also mean sellers getting more money, it's a cycle)
If food and fuel prices rise because of hardships in transport or growth or anything, then there is likely either to be a greater percentage of people's money spent on that or, just as likely, people will stop buying and the economy will become stagnant. In that case the government may take out foreign investment or print more money and then there would be large inflation which means money begins to lose its worth - essentially the same as raising prices.
