"hey lets get on this big busy road ill drive right in the middle of it on my bike"
this is a dumb idea, i dont care what law states that says you can ride a bike in the road or any of that "share the road" crap, riding a bicycle on busy roads is just asking for trouble. for many people a biker is that last thing they are expecting when turning. whoever was driving this car had probably been looking at the other lane to make sure traffic wasn't about to fuckin slam their car
i know in europe bicycle transportation is more popular of a thing but in my town you'd get ran over riding on busy streets like that, people dont pay attention and i always expect the worst out of people, especially giant hunks of metal that can obliterate me and whatever flimsy piece of metal you're riding on.
1. "The law" doesn't state that cyclists can ride on the road. It states that they must ride on the road.
2. If you aren't looking out for cyclists/pedestrians, you're a bad driver.
I expected him to throw the helmet into the Citroen.
As a bike rider, I think a lot of car drivers are insane unpredictable assholes.

In Japan, it's the law that anybody on a bicycle must use the road at all times UNLESS there is a sign on the sidewalk specifically saying bicycles can use the sidewalks (often the case with wider sidewalks and/or busier roads). There's sometimes even a "lane" (a painted area on the sidewalk, often green) for bicycles on those sidewalks.
Is it that way for any other countries? I think that's exactly how it should be.

It is for most i think and a lot of cities and states here, including mine, have started adding a lot of bike lanes.

So what's the problem with bikers? You clearly state the driver turning in had shitty driving habits that endanger others around them. It's obviously their fault.
I feel bad for bikers. You guys have to deal with dumbasses arguing about sidewalks every other minute that it even annoys me...
Both parties at fault. The car for not waiting for traffic to clear, of course, and the bicyclist for not looking more than ten feet down the fucking road. He had PLENTY of time to stop and avoid the impatient motorist, but noooo, staring at his own front wheel was more important than scanning the road.
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
Idunno...look more than ten feet in front of him in the off chance that some idiot does exactly what happened in this video? I've cycled in the rain enough times to know that a sound bicycle could have easily stopped from that speed in that distance, if he had been looking where he was supposed to be looking instead of down at the ground by his front wheel he would have been able to avoid the dumbass in the hatch. But no. He was looking down. So he was also a dumbass. GG.
did you not watch the video at all or something?
and you're really hell bent on "Him looking his tires" as if eyeballs can't be tilted upwards infront of them
it also looks like the driver turned their turn signal on... WHILE turning
its like, literally impossible for the biker to have prevented this. I've no idea how both could have been at fault at all.
The helmet cam clearly shows his face was aimed at his damned handlebars when he approached the intersection. Idunno maybe he had his eyes rolled up to the top of their sockets but chances are his eyes and that helmet cam were looking in roughly the same direction.
you just counteracted your own argument and went ahead saying the opposite
Contradicting yourself is a really bad sign
Should be on side walk right? LETS RIDE INTO PEOPLE WOO.

I never understand this.
Are there people dumb enough to ride into people while on the sidewalk?

my point is that despite laws and shit (never heard of the law that makes you ride on roads with bikes but w/e) accidents like this are still gonna happen alot as long as bicyclists keep riding on busy roads like this
like i said the driver in the video had alot more to worry about than a bicyclist who they probably only saw JUST as they hit the person. you can say what you will about "bad drivers" but the fact is these bad drivers exist and are more frequent than you think. too many fuckin roadside graves in my town for me to take this video seriously
and i seriously doubt any cop will try to persecute you for riding on a sidewalk unless you're being reckless and the sidewalks conditions wouldn't permit it but from the video it looked like his sidewalk was mostly empty
unfortunately this is very typical for the romford area, drivers are useless and largely aggressive around there.
I was on a bike at a 4 stop intersection once, waiting for my turn. I finally go, but some asswipe decides to start going while I was in the MIDDLE of the intersection. She also decided to accelerate and I had to slam my brakes clipping her car. I have a lot of stupid fucks living in my area.

At least in the States, where a lot of suburban sidewalks are small as shit, the you can barely share the sidewalk with 4 people and a stroller going in opposite directions.
In the cities, good luck even using a fucking scooter.
At least his bone(s) are not broken.

Ooh okay. That makes sense.
I constantly drive by cyclists around my town who are just riding on the edge of the road with no mirrors on the right side, and I'm terrified they'll end up swerving in front of me or something. Granted, the situation in the video's completely different, but it just makes me wish there were more bike lanes around here.
A bike shouldn't be on a road in the first place
That is the most dumbs I've seen in 24 hours. Impressive.
Welcome to the Netherlands my friend, where people drive bikes EVERYWHERE.
And I know of, you guessed it, ZERO cyclists who have been killed in the past 15 years that I've lived in this area.
People in cars pay attention here, they dont text, or use a fucking laptop glued to their steeringwheel.

Um you can't use that while driving.
one of my recommended videos is called HORRIBLE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS 2014 and it's just a girl with a big ass on a motorcycle in the thumbnail

Seeing stuff like this makes me proud to be a safe driver. The driver started moving as soon as the cyclist entered the intersection, and that right there is awful driving. When I see people on bikes I give them as much space as possible.
Also seeing all of those dickheads inching their way out really pisses me off. Like, how much of a difference is that few inches going to get you in terms of finding an opportunity to make your turn? I hate people who do that. It's one thing if you can't see both ways, that's understandable. But here, it looks to me like none of those drivers had any business sticking the hoods of their cars out that far.
I really hate bad drivers.
