Dude... They didn't club the cat over the head with a brick to kill it
They have every right to dissect it lol
I remember when I was in school most of the science department/area was doing dissecting that week.
My class was dissecting cats, the class across the hall way was dissecting sharks and fish and some other class was dissecting some smaller critters. The entire hallway stank terribly that entire hall way didn't have much traffic that week besides the students who went to the classes.
For people that don't know, these cats are not killed for the propose of this. It is the very opposite, the school buys the cats that are already dead. Most animal shelters that put down animals have freezers and they actually store the dead animals for a period of time. Instead of just destroying them or whatever they're bought for educational purposes.
I'm uploading the pictures to a different image host, it takes a while due to my shoddy internet but hopefully I'll be able to fix them not showing up
Show us its face.
I wanna know if its eyes are closed or if it's like: O_O
I cried

But it's for SCIENCE!!! :science:
Pretty sure we get to dissect frogs and birds at my school, but I'm not really sure yet.
shit
Out of curiosity, did anyone in your class object at all to dissecting a cat? :v:
someone said it isn't that bad??
i feel queasy :(
I guess fleshy inside stuff makes me like that, the more you know!
If the thing was dead already I really don't care.
We just did dissections in my anatomy/physiology class too, only they were fetal pigs. I felt pretty awful about it and I've been slightly depressed since then. I really love studying about bodies - that's why I'm in an anatomy/physiology class - but that doesn't override the instinct I have to protect small, innocent things.
I can't imagine I would have been able to dissect a cat.
I think the images are in the wrong order?
..meow? :saddowns:
Alright, I think I've fixed the links. Could anyone confirm?

Yeah, no one really WANTED to, and every day the smell of the preserving fluid makes you sick. But its all pretty interesting so no one complains to badly, and no ones physically been sick... yet
well this is just about the worst thing to post on fp
the hordes of cat lovers are probably planning the best way to tear you apart
why won't the cat wake up
WHY WON'T IT WAKE UP
very interesting.
i had to dissect a cat, a dog, frog, and a pig in my biology class.

Because it's dead.
Holy shit 11th grade and dissecting a cat? The only thing I got to dissect was a mouse.
Guys it's really not that bad. It's not like there's pictures of a cute, cuddly kitten being mutilated. The cat's been dead and it's anything but cute looking - you can't even see the face. I'm not very desensitized and I could look at this and eat my Chicken Alfredo at the same time.

Yeh the links are fixed now.
I kept crying to myself and every time I opened a picture I would just let out a loud "why....!?"

Why should something be any less deserving of sympathy if it isn't cute?
HOLY shit. That was interesting. But messed up.

I think we got to dissect a pig heart and an eye in year 9\10 science, but I missed out on the heart (or at least I don't remember it).
And :wtc:, one of my friends ate some of the eye fluid ("vitreous humour") when we were doing that experiment...

They do the same things to humans at Universities.
'why....!?'

Why should you be showing it sympathy? It's dead. It's not like it was clobbered over the head, just for this science class.

At least he died for science.
Did it smell bad?

I know that. But I'm still a sensitive person, and logic doesn't really cancel that out. It's just this inherent feeling I have to care for little things. I can't control my reaction to it. I just get uncomfortable.
That was actually pretty cool, the heart looked much better than the pigs hearts we get inschool.
