That's really fucking depressing but somehow makes me hungry and want Chinese food :smith:
I remember dissecting a frog. I took the physics path instead of biology, so I didn't get to do the cat. What I do remember from the frog is the chest wall is a pain to get open.
Really? On the cats the chest wall was surprisingly easy. We just took some medical scissors and cut right through
I knew it was a bad, bad idea clicking this thread while eating.
i got to see the insides of a live cat being operated on once (she had a massive infected sore on her front)
and i've got to say one thing, you can see limitless amount of gore on the internet, but seeing the insides of something alive IRL evokes this horrible gag reflex you don't get anywhere else.
My curiosity just finished ruining my day
THAT was student assisted homicide
get it
I feel like this is just a giant hoax on us.
What kind of company sells dead cats?
Didn't get to exactly dissect it, but I was able to touch and examine a cat. Was cool except some preservative juice got on my skin.
who the fuck dissects cats?
Why did you make this thread?

avatar fits
dead cat is more disgusting that mutilated people than mutilated people
Didn't find that gross. Just body parts. Its not all bloody and mutilated. So, its not that gross for me.

That's completely fine, most kids in my class do the dissections without gloves

:frog:
hygiene first, i guess
You know you've been playing DF to much when you look at the cat pelt picture and say "Hmm I could make a good pair of boots out of that".
i stopped at the third picture because this is just gross and sad :smith: do you know how the cat died?

sissy
its pretty interesting actually
I just hope it was found dead and not murdered for scientific studies.
I never got to dissect anything in high school, consider yourself lucky >:(

i only did this on a frog and that was it. (also i have a weak stomach when it comes to doing it to lets say some pigs.)
We're about to do this in our Anatomy class.
And by we I mean a few guys and a class-room full of girls who will begin to scream at decibels un-recorded by science once a dead, preserved, feline is slapped onto their dissection tables.
decibels unrecorded
Yum.
:barf::tubular:

I wouldn't be so sure about the girls. The only girl in my group is one of those girls whom you would expect to be completely grossed out, like she has a bunch of makeup and eyeliner and stuff on. But when it was time to take out the heart, she just went right on in with her gloves and started ripping shit up
Also to anyone asking how it died, I already said it was for population control reasons. That means that it was in some kind of a shelter and had to be euthanized, then the bodies were donated to a company who drains the blood, injects with dyes, and gives them to medical facilities for science
it really isn't that bad.It is actually worse to skin and cut up a deer that was alive 30 minutes ago, simply because of the warmth inside of the body.
Nooooooo. :ohdear:
Oh dear god that is unsettling. I can't even begin to imagine myself doing that, and I am thoroughly surprised a fellow cat owner went through with it.
I've always wanted to dissect an animal like this. Very interesting. I don't know why everyone is so sad about it though.
Hey I recognise that membrane.
Pig's stomach is used in some peranakan dishes I'm sure.
[editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
Also why does the cat looks like it's been boiled?
[editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
Oh wait preserved cat.
Oh lawd Facepunch has no boundaries. And I love it
Woah, cool.
We only dissected a damn fish in school, cat is on a whole another level.
This is pretty cool, I'd love to do things like this for science.
I love the few furries in this thread whining, ahaha
