We did rats in our grade 11 bio. My group's rat had a tumor, and another group's rat was pregnant. Will post pics in a new thread if interested.

I saw that picture and though Mr.Own got unbanned? Then I saw the name and remembered I gave you my old account :v:
Anyhow, this is really cool. "Stealing the heart" haha
We only dissected earthworms, cocroaches, fish and mice in school :saddowns:
Did this in 9th Grade Biology Honors. The rest of the class did fetal pigs, but me and 2 others had done that in 8th grade, so we got to have a cat. It was a lot less detailed compared to what you're doing and we really just cut at what we felt like. It was a bitch and a half cutting it open, the wet fur made the scalpel damned near useless.
Looking at what you did, I have no fucking clue why we didn't grab some paper towels to dry it...
good riddance

just kidding dont get mad catfags
thats my cat
[sp]yes[/sp]
i feel weird, the meat looks like it would taste good :tinfoil:
I fucking hate dissections. I had to do a frog dissection and that smell just stays with you for a couple of days even after you're finished.
i dissected a frog in 9th grade and thats it
weird how you got a cat OP
I'm pretty glad I took chemistry and physics instead of anatomy.
I refuse to do dissection's it doesn't bother me to see guts and shit, i just don't.....care to see it?, I find it boring....so thus, why do it if I won't learn anything? :what:
Yeah that's true. But I usually don't have any problem seeing or dissecting an animal. However it sure is horrible when the cause is overpopulation or killing it just for the sake of dissection. I understand that there is a lot of sympathy toward cats and dogs because they are our pets. But for me, dissecting a human is much worse (not that I've done it), even though they have donated their bodies. It just doesn't feel "right".
Yeah and they are horrible to watch, but I guess very educational.
Serious question:
What would you prefer: Dying of a hideous physiological condition due to the prevention of dissection and therefore medical progress
or
having minor noninvasive surgery to correct said condition?
Omlette, Eggs, Break. You get the picture.

What? A cat! Damn I wish I could have gotten to dissect something like that. All I got was frogs and owl pellets. -_-
Anyways, interesting thread OP.
Poor cat. :smith:
Quite an interesting post, despite it feeling like I could actually smell the rotting flesh through my computer screen :barf:
You can't smell rotting flesh when you're dissecting. The preservatives prevent decay temporarily, and even if they didn't, they would most certainly mask the smell of rotting flesh, fortunately.
I thought it said Dissects a Car, and without reading anything in the OP, I clicked the image.
Never again.

Swebonny isn't saying he disagrees with dissection - just that he would be uncomfortable with it. I think we can all agree the knowledge gained from dissection is a good thing and it should be supported, but that doesn't mean we have to be very comfortable with actually doing it.

Your avatar makes this thread twice as sad.
What possibly gave you the urge to post this on here??
An unfortunate casualty of science :smith:
i aint even gonna click any of those pictures.
That's pleasant.
I was laughing in disgust when I saw those images.

What a strange reaction.
I'm okay... just, puked in my mouth a little.
:fireman:
Interesting. Dissecting something has always been kind of a taboo to me but it seems like it could actually be a pretty eye-opening (let alone eye removing) experience.
OH GOD
Why did I open those images?
I literally threw up in disgust. :barf: The only solace I can take is that that cat gave it's life for your education. :smith:
