Eh, not too sure about this one, i'm sure Pixar know what they're doing, but I don't know, this just seems a bit to formulaic. Plus, at least they justified the Scottish accents in this one, whereas in HTTYD there were a bunch of Scottish Vikings for some reason.
Yeah but this time instead of a girl with super long hair, it's a girl with red hair. Empowering.
I don't know what to think about this movie it does kinda seem like how to train your dragon tho How to Train your dragon "Dragons cant be friendly with us" Brave "Girls cant fight they must be girly" but who knows I didn't think UP was going to be good either and it turned out to be one of my favorite Pixar movies... All their movies are based around sadness kinda so I wouldn't be surprised to see some big dramatic scene in this where like a parent dies etc. etc. Edit: double scotts
This trailer raises a good question, but I can honestly say that I would not change my feet if I had the chance.
I trust Pixar.
Guys. Let's be serious here. You're all complaining about it... And you're still going to see it. And chances are you're still going to love it.
Billy Connolly <3
Meh, too dreamworks-ish.
Scottish Accents <3
Fixed. All I know is that no matter how good the movie will be, it will be filled with Scottish accents, which are pretty much the best accents
"Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late."
Hmm... at first, I thought, "Oh. Another story about a princess who doesn't like gender norms. Original." But it seems like they're going with the route of her accidentally starting a war between her family and the other families, probably for power over the kingdom and tradition. There's the short bit of the dark, rainy night with the army, but there's also a scene of a massive, silly slapfest, so it's not like they were in a serious war beforehand. I think. I'm also guessing that her family's turned into bears in order to save them or something like that. (Notice how she has triplet siblings, and there are those 3 little bears.) Because, come on, bears. If the bears in Skyrim are any indicator... yeah, you don't fuck with bears. Thusly, her family won't be killed... but they'll be bears. Also, bears don't give a shit about gender norms. Either that, or the witch is the bear. [del]And she summons magic steampunk viking bear airships.[/del] Bears. So, yeah, this is gonna be great. There better be a cameo by Stephen Colbert.
