Actually I think this refresher thing only works when ACTA takes place, I mean they monitor us right? And when the see millions of people searching for ACTA Unconstitutional, they will realize that people don't want them.
Or they'll realize it's a google bomb and not care.
Or they'll realize it's a google bomb and not care.
Really think they're gonna be smart enough to realize that?
Just an update for Canadians.
They are currently opposed, I picked it up on a site but forgot witch one, gonna go get source.
I have two computers in my house that are on 24/7. At least one of them will constantly be running the refresher page.
You call yourself a nerd.
Pathetic.
Knowing the Australian government they will (try to) accept this.
The worst part is it's a treaty too.
Hell if there is protests in Melbourne I would go.
This is the 3rd thread on the subject (the other 2 being directly below this one), we get the point already.
Some of us actually care about the future of our privacy and rights and what not.

With the election being in limbo at the moment, I don't any major agreements will pass.
Hopefully it stays that way for a while.
A minority government would have the same effect.
Some of us actually care about the future of our privacy and rights and what not.
And some of us are already getting their internet traffic monitored and whatnot.
It's still not a valid reason to make three threads on the same subject
Atleast its more than one country so other citizens will agree with a nation when it goes up in revolution.
I'm hearing rumors it just got passed.

I heard nothing of this until just now.
Holy shit. I highly doubt they'll be able to pass this efficiently. But even so, it's still scary to think about.
I've been watching this problem slowly develop, and it really surprises me how few people know about this.
I heard about it a long time ago and figured it would be publically known by now, yet I haven't heard a mention of ACTA nowhere. The worst part about this entire thing is that there is very little transparency to ACTA; no one has a clear picture of what is going on. Theories has it that the US is pushing for secrecy. All parties have promised that the full text of the agreement will be available to the public shortly before the respective parliaments are to sign it, but at that point it's too late to make any changes.
Here's a recent press release on the 10'th round of ACTA negotiations (copypasted from the PDF hosted here):
Joint Press Declaration from all the ACTA negotiating parties
- 10th Round of ACTA Negotiations -
Washington/Brussels –
22nd August 2010
The 10th round of negotiations on the proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade
Agreement (ACTA) was held in Washington, D.C. from 16 – 20 August 2010, and
was hosted by the United States of America. United States Trade Representative
Ron Kirk and Deputy United States Trade Representative Miriam Sapiro welcomed
the delegations and thanked them for all of their work in the negotiations.
Participants in the negotiations included Australia, Canada, the European Union,
represented by the European Commission, the EU Presidency (Belgium) and EU
Member States, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore,
Switzerland and the United States of America.
Based on the progress made in the previous round, in Lucerne, Switzerland,
participants advanced their discussions in all sections of the agreement, including
the Preamble, Initial Provisions, General Obligations, Civil Enforcement, Border
Measures, Criminal Enforcement, Enforcement Measures in the Digital
Environment, International Cooperation, Enforcement Practices, Institutional
Arrangements and Final Provisions.
During the week, the United States hosted informal meetings with stakeholders,
representatives from non-governmental organization (NGOs), business leaders
and the participants in the ACTA negotiating round. The United States offered
these meetings to give interested parties and governmental officials the
opportunity to interact and discuss the issues concerned with ACTA.
Participants stressed the importance of ACTA as an Agreement that will establish
an international framework for their efforts to more effectively combat the
proliferation of counterfeiting and piracy, which undermines legitimate trade and
the sustainable development of the world economy.
While ACTA aims to establish effective enforcement standards for existing
intellectual property rights, it is not intended to include new intellectual property
rights or to enlarge or diminish existing intellectual property rights.
ACTA will not interfere with a signatory’s ability to respect fundamental rights and
liberties. ACTA will be consistent with the WTO Agreement on Trade Related
Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement) and the Declaration on
TRIPS and Public Health. The ACTA negotiators reiterated that ACTA will not
hinder the cross-border transit of legitimate generic medicines, and reaffirmed
that patents will not be covered in the Section on Border Measures. ACTA will not
oblige border authorities to search travelers’ baggage or their personal electronic
devices for infringing materials.
Participants in the meeting agreed that Japan would host the next negotiating
round in September 2010. Participants committed to resolving remaining
substantive issues at that round, and agreed to publicly release the full text of the
agreement before deciding to sign it.

Either people will revolt, accept it, or nothing at all will come of it.
Kind of like the Patriot Act, although they use it to monitor phone lines, they dont use it to its full potential.
Good luck filing a lawsuit against a few million people at once.
I put your whole post on my facebook including a bunch of links. I don't know if that will help at all though.
Signed the petition, I'm mostly (not completely) against piracy but this is fucking stupid.
