I don't trust downloading music from "legal" programs. I doubt they can prevent me from saving cache then converting it to MP3. ^ Just saying, not promoting piracy, but ACTA sounds fucking stupid.
This is such bullshit. I mean, really. What the fuck. If this goes through, I'm gonna have to smash my pc pronto.
I have discovered a rather interesting article... http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2010/08/trade-groups-policing-our-digital-copyrights-is-just-too-hard.ars Seems like even if ACTA is passed, it's destined to fail anyways...
... Why? Just stop pirating shit and nothing will happen. [editline]03:05PM[/editline] ... Or am I horribly mistakened?
It opens up severe threats to the security and integrity of individuals by bypassing long-established civil rights. Integrity is extremely important, for instance, if journalists can't keep their sources confidential just imagine what's gonna happen to investigative media?

If so, this shit is more retarded than I initially thought.
I think there will (or could...) come a time to realize if we want our open internet how it is now, we're going to have to fight and risk our lives for it just like the Union strikers during the 1920s.
I'm not risking my life for the internet! I'll just let rednecks go out and do it for me to stop that "Damn Obama from censoring my computer!" [editline]fuck you[/editline] In other news, what would the ACTA do to torrenting music with a CC license?
...
It's September :byodood:.
Nothing happened yet. Or is it...?
Give them at least a few days to gather enough evidence to put you to jail forever.
Well, has obama given any addresses? Guess not...still has anything happened?
Oh, this comes is active now? Wow, I was expecting a better warning. BRB, deleting computer.
The September negotiations haven't started yet (I think much later this month). Although I think I forgot to post the US petition... https://www.eff.org/action/tell-your-lawmakers-anti-counterfeiting-treaty I will repost the EU one... http://www.laquadrature.net/wiki/Written_Declaration_12/2010_signatories_list#List_of_the_non-signatories Spread the word about this as quickly as possible.
They still have a round of negotiations to go through, keep your pants on.
EVERYONE, I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER. Everybody, switch to the Swedish pirate ISP, you will be protected.

I've never downloaded anything illegally, oh well. Too bad for my poor cousin.
Well, has obama given any addresses? Guess not...still has anything happened?
They'll decide whether to apply it or not the 9th. [editline]05:13AM[/editline] http://www.euractiv.com/en/infosociety/anti-counterfeit-trade-deal-planned-september-news-497049 [editline]05:18AM[/editline] It seems alot more reasonable as of now, and you should stop panicking.
I signed the petition, and have been taking part in the Anti-ACTA 'Bomb', but I feel it's not enough to stop this thing. At first, I didn't give a shit. Now with it possibly passing, I'm almost a nervous wreck. Not the fact that if this passes, ISPs can monitor you. But, what if they're capable of searching your hard drives? If they can legally invade your privacy... Living in the US, BTW.
So, I bought a copy of Gunman: Chronicles at the salvation army. The disc was slightly warped and wouldn't play too well, and while trying to fix it my friend accidentally broke the disc. So I just downloaded the game and used the serial from my box. Is it illegal?
