Black Widow venom is actually not deadly to healthy adults, the only people who are really susceptible to the venom are small children and the elderly, or the very sick.
Many people fear spiders without it being a phobia. But what causes it? Its nature does seem instinctive: it has a good reason for our species' survival and it's a very common fear. But it seems to be developed with age. A baby's first reaction to a spider is trying to eat it. And the fear is more prevalent in young girls than in young boys. edit: At least displaying it is. So it seems to be cultural rather than instinctive.
I've had a black widow bite before, it's not fatal unless you're infirm.
Why do you even have black widows in your home?
Yeh where do you live? I hope you realise Black Widows can kill you really easily + how did it get into your home?!
How can you be scared of a spider, it's ridiculous? My 22 year old brother still calls me into his room to pick up spiders and throw them outside. Am i the only person in the world that thinks spiders are cute?
You are not alone. :D
It's actually a lot more than that.
That's not even funny. Fuck you! FUCK YOU!
<---Huge phobia of spiders...I was just laying in bed and saw a black widow crawling up my headboard (was watching TV) But when i got up to find something to smash it with, it disappeared. I figured maybe it fell while i was getting up due to a draft or something, I've searched everywhere, torn my bed apart, and the damned thing is no where to be found. It must have fucking teleported or something but I'm afraid to lie back down now, I don't want to wake up to it biting/crawling on me, I'd have a fucking heart attack...or die of the poisoning or whatever...what the fuck do i do
This happens. But with huge wolf spiders. Things are fast. Go sleep on couch.
I live in New Mexico, they are fairly rare but last year or so we had a like...nest of them i guess, in a crack between our house and the concrete, we had killed them all but maybe they are back again. As for how they got into the house, the screen on my window is bent on a corner, leaving a gap where bugs can enter.
Lol
Haha, we don't have poison spiders where I live. :neckbeard: Though I'm still shitting my pants if they are near me.. :ohdear: Luckily I've only seen about 3 spiders this year.

I'm afraid of spiders too, but I saw one of the motherfuckers crawling across my bedroom wall last night right as I as about to sleep, and I knew that if I didn't do something about it, then he would probably crawl on my face or something when I was sleeping. So I smashed him with my hand wrapped around a shirt and threw the shirt in the trash. :buddy:

I woke up to see its eyes looking into my left eye. :3: Dawwww [editline]10:17PM[/editline] The thing is, I see A spider in my house. I don't harm it. I get some paper and a cup. And put it outside in a bush or something.

It's rare that a black widow would bite you while you are sleeping. Black widows only bite when put in danger. First they give a warning bite, without poison, than if the danger continues they give a second bite WITH poison.
Did you know the daddy long legs spider is the most venemous spider to humans? It just isn't effective against us because it's fangs are too small to pierce our skin.
Who else feels uneasy even looking at pictures of them? :frown: I remember last year I opened my window for one night because it was too warm and when I woke up there was about 20 spiders all over my walls.
Whoever the prick was that made giant pic on this thread freaked me out. I hate spiders and pictures of them. I get this horrible feeling in my gut.
Would only bite you if you disturb them, otherwise they may run away. Look down at them telling how big you are, that might help. Man these and those ghost threads creep out, and now makes me not want to go to sleep and look around my feet to see if anything is there. Remember to clean your house, etc, walls once a week/month. Even get pest control to sort things out.
Welcome to Australia
^ Put that upside for funnies. Also to protect yourself from mouth spiders is use a protection mask.
Did you know the daddy long legs spider is the most venemous spider to humans? It just isn't effective against us because it's fangs are too small to pierce our skin.

There is an urban legend stating that daddy long-legs spiders have the most potent venom of any spider, but that their chelicerae (fangs) are either too small or too weak to puncture human skin; the same legend is also repeated of the harvestman and crane fly, also called "daddy long-legs" in some locales. Indeed, pholcid spiders do have a short fang structure (called uncate). However, brown recluse spiders also have uncate fang structure, but are able to deliver medically significant bites. Either pholcid venom is not toxic to humans or there is a musculature difference between the two arachnids, with recluses, being hunting spiders, possessing stronger muscles for fang penetration
Fuck this thread. I think I had a dream last night caused by it, which was a vivid as hell. But in the dream I woke up and there were spiders everywhere, and my blanket on my bed had webs all over it. It wasn't fun when I woke up in real life and couldn't sleep because of it.
I remember finding one of those (about the same size) outside my house when I was like 9. I brought it to school for show and tell and everyone flipped out :v:
:) I found a spider at least as large as a jar lid once, on holiday to Morocco. When I had my old tarantula, she moulted a few times. I still have the exoskeletons, and I brought one to school. I couldn't believe the chaos that ensued, people believed I had brought a real, live tarantula in, and refused to believe me when I said it isn't the actual spider.
Did you know the average human eats around 9 spiders in a lifetime while sleeping? True story, when you wake up and it feels like you haven't swallowed for hours, and your saliva glands have been shut off (suuuuper dry mouth) likely a spider crawled in yo mouf.
Shit CJ then I probably ate like 300 over the past few months. Them crafty spiders.
