Tbh I'm not all that angry at them because raging at them and just being angry doesn't help anything. They're putting forward the money to fix it and are doing what they can to push through a PR nightmare and a huge environmental disaster. The goverment will investigate whatever they need to obviously, but just sitting around angry won't help shit. This is something especially not recognized by the media, who all just want the administration to make angry faces at the CEOs.

And about welding the hole .. 1. It's pretty darn hard to remote control weld.
2. It's pretty darn hard to see when oil is spewing out of the hole.
3. The pressure of the oil would make it near impossible to hold the metal plate in place to weld it, otherwise, we could just use it to kludge the hole..
