You realize that humans have been hunting for tens of thousands of years right?
This isn't natural to say the least, I don't see lions chasing deers around with MG's. I know this sounds kind of stupid but the current form of hunting, etc is just hurting the environmental balance.

The weapon doesn't matter. The point I was trying to make was that humans have always hunted. It's not because we have a little devil in our heads whispering to our ear to murder our friends or teachers.

this is actually not true we started out as scavengers

sorta irrelevant but the more u kno
When man stuck a sharp stone to the end of a stick, they stuck with the method of tracking down beasts for a long time when they realized that the other living thing that didn't look like a human was pretty tasty.
do boars taste good
like pork
Wild pigs are even tastier than the stuff you find at the grocery store. Some of those pigs are massive too.
Went pig hunting in California a few years back, had to bayonet the pig rather than shoot it (No worries though, it died about a half second after I stabbed it, just as good as a bullet). Fortunately (What a mess pigs make)/unfortunately (They taste damn good) we don't have any wild pigs where I live now, but I'd NEVER go pig hunting again without a sword or a bayonet in case of emergency, wild pigs will fuck you up about as bad as they fuck everything else up.
Well at least he doesn't have to worry about missing too much when you have a bloody Minigun.
I find the video distasteful, but then I find hunting generally distasteful. That being said, I can't imagine that using a minigun is any more inhumane than using a boar spear.
It's not hunting in OP's video, it's pest control.
do boars taste good

Boar tastes really freaking good, it's probably one of my favorite meats ever along with horse.
[editline]16th March 2014[/editline]
Also boars are cunt animals and more or less pest in many cases, and considering how fucking tough a boar can be I totally understand people taking rather tough measures against them.
This isn't hunting.
It's culling of a pest species.
Then why don't you go back to the rainforest and hug a tree you hippie.
Pillar of the community
Screw Boars, all they do is make annoying sounds and don't contribute to anything in the ecosystem at all.
It's culling of a pest species.
this was done for nothing more than entertainment
Lets play spot the activists
It's more or less gassing a bunch of cockroaches in the garage but louder and the cockroaches can run you down and impale you with big fuck off tusks. Thus, the minigun.
As far as I know we don't have a huge boar problem here in VA, but from everything I've read and heard this doesn't seem like anything anyone sensible should get all mopey about.
I'm really fearful about all these animal outbreaks. Recently one of the most calm species on Earth has displayed unusual and very aggressive behavior because of how their habitats have been destroyed and how they're fearful for their existence. This makes me really sad.
no dude people fucked up and moved them into new areas which allowed them to proliferate and they were always that ridiculously aggressive
I'm speaking from experience, boars are fucking big and not to be fucked with. In the past decade herds of 'em have grown from the northeast all the way down to my area in southern Virginia. My father goes out and kills a dozen of them at a farm of a friend of his every couple of weeks. There's millions out there and they fuck up so many other animals.
How many patents and licenses does it take to do that?
And how many of them will be revoked if the ones responsible see the video? :v:
Well, the minigun is pretty easy to come across if you've got $25,000+ lying around. As far as things getting revoked...
None, really. The government (surprisingly enough) doesn't really give a shit when it comes to pest control.
I don't care about "oh they're in pain it's so sad", but come on.
Randomly shooting animals with a fully automatic militairy grade machine gun is just stupid.
It's not even effective at killing hogs.
Get a semi-auto and you'll kill more boars with less rounds used.
Absolute stupidity is in this thread and in the video.
Call me a dumb European, but I in no way, find this 'awesome' 'winner' or 'cool'.
It's unintelligent, over-the-top, and done purely for the sake of being spectacular and/or entertaining.
It's nothing to do with effective pest control. American culture is oozing out of this video and thread.
Ugh.
lmao what does pest control have to do with so-called "American Culture"? I don't mean to generalize but whenever there's a thread like this there's always some European guy who goes on some condescending rant and talks out his ass. it gets pretty old, honestly.

But then again, it's kinda hard to make an environmental case for hunting with a minigun when you're littering hundreds of bullet shells everywhere.
Boar spears are designed that way to protect the wielder, not cause some sort of crazy torture on the pig for shits and giggles.
Boar have a habit of getting impaled by spears and just keep charging at the spearman. That's what the bars at the end of that tip are designed to prevent.
It is hunting, it goes by the definition of hunting. Who cares how they hunt their boars. You don't truly know if they're doing it PURELY for fun. You guys act like they're evil people who torture cats in their spare time. Grow up. More likely it's for fun AND for the meat. The minigun is also effective at killing them, just like for killing anything. Miniguns fuck things up.

Okay well uh thats nice and all but while you're trying to talk invasive species out of your area or whatver I guess we'll just be sitting here actually making progress
with our miniguns
there's no doubt the video was done for entertainment. but the fact is that they are performing pest control on a species that can really do a lot of damage if went unchecked. yeah, they're using a minigun. if anything, it just makes it all the more effective. there's nothing morbid about it.
Boars are a fucking nuisance in Texas, they just tear up shit and ruin crops and there just too many of them. the mini gun is overkill? maybe regardless it free game in Texas to kill boars as nobody wants them nor do they want them fucking everything up.
Boars are some nasty bastards, their smaller cousins in Arizona(javelinas), are known to kill people's pet dogs all the damn time in suburban areas. A girl I went to school with lost her pet corgi to a pack of javelinas that attacked it for stepping into their mating area. It was a horrid clean up, and when word spread to the local community, a lot of people ended up going out into the local ravine, and I swear we had nothing but two nights of constant gunfire. They slaughtered every javelina in the area because of one corgi, and no one told the game rangers or police who did it, because everyone was pretty much on board with the whole thing since the start. That happened in 2007, and we only started to see a new pack of them start to appear around 2011.
That said though, boars are invasive and a pest. Much akin to hares and cottons around the world, and the coyotes in North Dakota, they have to be dealt with. People generally will not support mass-exterminations of pest creatures so you have to front something that will fund these types of things, and at the same time give people a reason to go out and do such things. Now imagine having a bunch of kids who hear: "Hey kid you can go shoot some wild boars with a minigun for $300!" and you'll have a bunch of war-hungry teens who will totally do it, just to feel "heroic" for killing pest creatures.
It's honestly sickening, I don't condone it, but within this time and age... We do not have many options. Game Rangers are stretched thin and wide, and you'd be lucky to get one doing pest work. With several programs being defunded or lobbyed to deal with other issues(ie. Asian Carp), we have very few "front liners" to go and deal with things like boars, hares, and coyotes. In all honesty, we need programs that teach the current generation of children on how to hunt for conservation and sustainability, and possibly influence the lower-end of the economic spectrum to hunt.
One measure I would outright love to see, is something that would give low-income families the means to hunt and fish. Something like a job service program, where you hunt or fish and whatever you catch or kill within reason, you can use to feed your families. With programs like this in place, we wouldn't need to front pest control and invasive species destruction as something "fun" but rather as a means of life and existence, and pertaining to a natural order in a sense.

he's talking about american gun culture which is a real, documented and thoroughly studied concept
the only place that's even mildly analagous in europe is switzerland due to their historical context (ie they're so small that civilian guns are viewed favorably as a means of national defense)
fairly certain he used that term in spite and not in reference to actual gun culture

You might not have noticed, but the US is very into guns. Hence american gun culture.
Everyone could look at this video and go "yep, americans" because it's very very recognisable.
Nobody else goes shooting animals with miniguns for entertainment :v:
holy fuck, all these people saying they are invasive and an destructive species.
Take a look in the mirror to see who is the real invasive and destructive species
By that logic, why don't you do the planet a favor by killing yourself so there's one less invasive creature in the world?
My Nan and Pop know a few people here who shoot and kill boars legally to help farmers because they're a huge problem for them.
They film their hunting trips and put them on DVD's for their friends and families to see, they're big motherfuckers out here as well
By that logic, why don't you do the planet a favor by killing yourself so there's one less invasive creature in the world?
I'd rather murder you.

You are telling someone who was thrown into this world by no means of his own to jump off a bridge when the practicality of it is pretty much absurd for the reasons you posted it but it doesn't hold up to the idea that if people desisted from creating further people, it would be a much predominant way of ensuring so much more.
