I'm really considering buying a street legal Yamaha YSR50. They are extremely rare, but If I keep searching on Craigslist I'll probably find one here in Florida. Does anyone have any experience with one?
Fellow Malaysian here, hello adam1172(and everyone else too)!
Going to get my bike licence in about a month or so after YEARS of yearning for one. Restricted to only 250cc and below, but hey, it's something at least!
And as y'all might already know, imported motorcycles here are relatively expensive. Particularly ones above 200cc or so. Government taxes I guess.
Planning on getting this for my first bike once I have the cash:

It's a Yamaha FZ150i. Fair reviews, costs USD2000 and the seat isn't uncomfortably low for my height (190+cm) unlike the other locally manufactured bikes. Ideally though, I would've liked a Ninja 250r but money is tight. =(
P.S. Also, naked bikes are sexier, anyway.

FZ150i, never knew it was a nakedbike . Nice choice, and yeah, ninjas are waaaay overpriced here.
I am selling my BMW 1100 RTP to get a new 2012 Triumph Speed Triple R. It is time for a new bike instead of a used one, and I fell in love with the speed triple the moment I took it on a test ride.
I thought you were that guy with the electric scooter or whatever, so I thought you were referring to that, not 2 strokes.

Ah! that would be disgusting :v:, I'm the guy with the old two-smoke 50cc bike.
Today I realize how awesome looking supermoto's are.

I don't understand why anyone would get a 50cc sport bike

I miss my moped, it was fun as hell to drift around in winter

I want a DRZ400 or something like that as my next bike after my GS500. I would love to do stuff like this.
Now I'm stuck on whether getting a Supermoto, Sportbike or Nakedbike. But I still have a year left to decide.
Adam did you buy that scooter from a page back?
You really can't beat a trail bike/motard in terms of fun (and simplicity), but they're much more likely to be stolen than a street bike is.

Yes but why would you get one
enduro mopeds are much more fun

Yeah, I had to buy it cause only scooters / mopeds are allowed for Learners.
I may be buying a Yamaha YSR50.

Drz is a good all around bike, but its heavy and its a pig that lack of power.
A friend of a friend just bought a Ninja 250 so now we're gonna be the perfect noob squad. We have my friend on his cruiser (Virago 250), me on my standard/naked (GS500), and him on his sportbike.
Although my friend with the Virago is probably gonna buy a new bike this summer or something. Still doesn't know what he wants though.

Talking about Ninja, a 1000cc Ninja which belonged to a doctor got stolen here yesterday. Damn.
And I wish the would cancel the 3 license shit here. I don't wait to wait till 21 for a full license.

I wish my friends had bikes... Riding all together would be great.
I'm enjoying my DNA quite a lot. Still has some issues that need to be fixed, even after spending 800 euros on it already.
Annoyingly, I'm not feeling comfortable on the road at all right now. I'm trying to keep looking around watching for pedestrians, cars getting off parking spaces etc. But it's tough to have oversight when there's a place to cross the road every 200 meters, and that some crossings have four or five paths crossing yours (separate cyclist/pedestrian lane, road, 2 way tram, road, separate cyclist/pedestrian lane as an example of a crossing). I don't want to take ages and hold up traffic trying to see the full picture, but perhaps that's exactly what I need to do to get the basics down.
For me, it's tough being a new driver...

Here, they drum it in to you to do check every side street you go past and to make it obvious so when it comes time to do your practical test, the assessor knows you're doing the checks.
Just give it time. Get more time on the bike and you'll be more comfortable doing it all.
Semi-related: Last night I helped a friend buy her first motorbike; an '08 CBR125. Being that she has only actually been in control of a bike twice (Both times on my bike, before the first time she said she HAD ridden a bike before. Bloody women -_-) and isn't the most mechanical savvy, I went with her to check it over and take it for a test ride. She bought it and I rode it back to hers for her.
I've only ever ridden 250s or larger and you can definitely tell it doesn't have a whole lot of puff, but it actually wasn't too bad. I just want to know what kind of ridiculous fuel economy you'd get from a 125cc FI engine O_o
my friend had a rieju RS2(?) 125, got about 3L/100km

~80mpg

he sold it and bought a zx-6r because he turned 18
Well it was raining in the afternoon just now and every main road from the school to my house will be full of cars. So we took the road going on a hill and wow, the road is full of corners, climbs and downhills and full of fun.
There was one flat part where the road goes zig-zag where you can just take on straight but its really bloody fun to bank around and swerve with the road. Not to mention when it rains the road turns into a river so fun splashed and traction problem everywhere.
Damn, now I want to try a a sportbike or a superbike just so I can have fun on that road. Its just a short 3 km small road but damn its the best road you can get in the middle of a city.

I have to wait till 21 till I can get my own zx-6r. Damn you road law!
Well yeah technically he's not allowed to drive the zx-6r if it has full power, but if the papers say it's been restricted down cops won't do anything

Its still cool to have one though, I have a friend who has one and all the while he has been using a fake license.

Oh sweet, this post makes me feel better about my plan to purchase an '08 CBR125.
Fuelly.com says that the bike gets around 86MPG (US) and around 105MPG (UK). That's frigging fantastic.
According to many car and motorcycle journalists, half the fun is pushing your vehicle to the limit. 125cc? Small limit. Lots of fun.
eh, I'm all for "driving a slow car fast > driving a fast car slow" but 125cc on the streets around here would be pushing it. Sure it's flickable, but the fact that I'd have to hammer on it to get it up to the speed limit would make me crazy.
