Just bought some trousers, a jacket, gloves and a balaclava. Need a helmet and , of course, a bike now. Oohhhh this is exciting
I almost want to sell my cbr 600 and buy a ruckus. Soon I'm going to be in a small college town and I really don't have a use for my huge bike.
Passed my bike test 2 days ago, was an expensive bastard to get.
Looking to get a virago 535, to replace my Honda CG.
I'm taking my test next week. If i pass, i'll finally be able to ride my dads street legal '77 Husqvarna 360, or '11 Husaberg FE570s.
Changed my fuel filter. 50 miles from home it decided to move and pinch off the fuel line. Took me 30 minutes in 90+ heat to figure out y it wouldn't run.
That sucked. Oh on the cm400.
Also upped a tooth on the front sprocket and added a windshield.
Opinions on scooters guys? I need some quality motorized two wheeled vehicle with low insurance.

honda ruckus
Honda Ruckus is ultimate scooter. Ninja 250 if you want something that can go past 40.
I must say, for a 50cc Stripped down to almost no feature scooter. The ruckus is pretty expensive.
Cool. Ruckus it is! Let me do some searching on the internet!

Yep. Ruckus is your best bet.
Yep. Ruckus is your best bet.
whats the top speed on one of those?
i kinda like this
PCX150
still too slow for my commute. i have about 40 miles of interstate now. and a total of 54 miles each way.
Ruckus go mid 30s stock. So I would get something bigger if you have more than just in town.
I'm pretty sure no scooter would keep up on an interstate.

Suzuki Burgman 650 is a scooter. And it's 650cc
Yeah, but those are typically the exceptions.
Plus, at that size, fuel economy isn't that different than a normal motorcycle, which you could arguably have tons more fun on other than commuting.

yea i have been commuting on my 42 hp 400cc cm400e, and i only have about 400 bucks in it. with everything. they are a few mountains at 65mph i loose speed down to 60mph at full throttle in 5th gear. i wouldnt want less hp.
Wanted to share a story with you guys, also to warn you that fucks in the cars don't really look out for motorcycles...
Today I experienced my first crash ever, I was driving around 60 km/h or around 40 mph. Right in front of me was a turn to the right, I was going forward and a car was coming from the turn.
I wasn't going to let it enter so I didn't stop.
He didn't give a fuck and started getting on the road and that was like 5 meteres from me.
I jumped on the brakes and somehow avoided it by inches, but hit the sidewalk and my Scooter jumped and it fell on his right side. It dragged my leg for about 10 meteres and my girlfriends too.
I have 2 deep wounds on my leg (I have a picture but it's patched up), they are really deep and kinda big they cover most of the bandage.
My girlfriend got the same injuries as mee but her leg also got burnt really bad by the exhaust because the scooter landed on our legs. Right as we stopped dragging across the road, I jumped out of the scooter and heard my GF screaming hot-hot.
I turned around and saw the scooter on her leg, I picked up the damn scooter and threw it on the other side (at this point I didn't care about the scooter it was new tho).
We got our shit together in 5 minutes or so and then we drove to my house all bloody and dirty. Luckily my father after freaking out bandaged us and it's all fine, my bandages are a little bit bloody but it's fine.
Also the driver that did that ran away, that bastard didn't even look what happend just drove off really fast.
Fucking prick

There are huge and deep wounds under the bandages, you don't want to see them trust me.
My GF is in a bad shape too, I feel really sorry for her and tomorrow is our 8th month so it's all ruined.
That's horrible that the driver didnt stop. I hope you and your Gf's injury's heal up pretty fast because that looks very painful and restrictive.
I remember one time i was riding my KDX220 in the woods, and i had some new bark busters that i just installed (i didn't take the time to angle them correctly), and just as i went into a turn, my rear tire lost traction and directed me right into a tree. The bark busters may have saved my hand in the long run, but since i didn't angle them correctly, my arm slid in between the bark busters and the handle-bars and broke to the point where the bone was sticking out.
Oh wow, that sounds horrible. We got lucky that we didn't break anything because I didn't overdo the brakes, if I did the scooter would just do a 90 degree turn and fling us over the fence.
Also while I'm posting, would like to ask you guys about the cosmetics of the scooter and the engine performance.
The scooter is brand new and right now it's at around 158 miles, it needs 625 miles for the engine to do it's thing and run properly aka I can't give more then 80% gas (you probably know what it means when you get a brand new car or a motorcycle)
Will that crash do anything bad to it? I believe the engine shut off in the crash, not sure I don't remember it's all blury.
Also the side of the scooter is damaged, no cracks or anything but the red sport lines are pealed off and it looks like the plastic hull of the Scooter has a huge dark sticker so I could peal that off.
I'm not sure if that's the original painting of the Scooter or something, but how can I fix all of this?
I got a Gilera Runner SP 50cc 2012

When I picked this up
NO
Gastank, brake or clutch handle, carburetor, seat, lights, or horn.
The wiring was all slashed to shit, only the ignition coil worked. The case around the shifter had a gaping crack in it....
Tires held air though, only took about eighty dollars to get it up and running. Need to get some better pictures.
Damn, I wish shit was cheap(er) for my bike. A carb would cost like $200 alone.
Carbs are expensive. A rebuild kit should be about 50 bucks.

Very, my carb cost 1000$ new, but a rebuild kit is 50$.
I'm currently looking to buy a used Ninja 250 for $3400 with 8600km on it as well as, included with the price, a helmet, jacket, and gloves. is this worth it? What kinds of things should I be looking for when buying a used bike?

The helmet, you can probably throw away. You should get one that fits your head like it should, not just "close enough".
You can probably find loads of great buying guides on google.
I'd never buy a used helmet. You can get a nice helmet for ~$100 if you know where to find deals.
