I'd never buy a used helmet. You can get a nice helmet for ~$100 if you know where to find deals.
motorcycle superstore is a great place. that mileage is nothing, in the last 3 weeks i have rode 1900 miles. ( commute little over 100 miles now)
Most used Ninja 250 has a yoshimura exhaust. If that bike doesn't come with one, get it.
Hahah, that yoshi-pipe made it sound just like my old pitbike. Wish they still made inline 4 twofifties The ZXR250 sounds and looks fantastic. And revs to 20000 rpm :v:
I wish there were more streetbikes that revved to 20k.
I wish there were more streetbikes that revved to 20k.
thats crazy high. to think i was impressed by my 31years old bike reving to 10k.
Sorry to make more Ruckus talking about scooters, but what are your opinions on two stroke 50ccs? They look pretty good to me because of the tuning.
washed my bike after riding 50 miles in the rain as of tuesday this is my only vehicle, my wife has the 11 wk2. but i just have this bike and the shadow. i dont like commuting on the shadow i wanna add a silver one of these to the tank. Hey guys, I deploy to Afghanistan soon, so after I come back I am getting a new bike. I am going to get a new Kawasaki Concours 14. Going to be doing a lot of touring and riding when I get back, because two of my friends here are getting bikes when they come back, and are very interested in riding around everywhere. I am going to teach them how to ride. I hope that they listen, and don't do anything crazy.
Just decided im getting into biking, theres some fucking insane trails here for dirtbikes. So I'm gonna look for a cheap one I can fix up and learn on, then move up to a street bike, probally a 250, lots of those for sale here. also you guys have some wicked bikes

The conquour is a beast. Big bike alot of bike. Would be a great cross county cruiser. That a lot of hp though and 16k ( I think ) is a lot. Hope it's not your first bike they are touchy.

Problem is, the Concours can pretty much only go on roads. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline]
The conquour is a beast. Big bike alot of bike. Hope it's not your first bike they are touchy.
I have been riding pretty much every single day for four years. I currently own a 2001 BMW 1100 RTP, though it had been rode hard and put away wet by the CHP. It is a great bike, don't get me wrong, but it is showing its age, as I now have reached 76,000 miles on it, and I need a new bike with a warranty. I also love sport touring bikes, and I will need one for my post-deployment road trips. Also, yes 16k is a lot, but I am good with my finances, and am perfectly able to take out a low interest rate loan and make sizeable payments on it every month. Remember, after I come back from deployment, I will have a lot more money, probably around 10k more than before going. I can handle big touchy bikes, no problem. It will take a bit of getting used to, as I am going from my wonderfully balanced BMW to a bike that has 300 more cubic centimeters of displacement, and is heavier than my current bike, but I see no problems with that. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] Here is an old pic of me on my bike for reference.
Nice BMW. That kawa will be a perfect fit for you. Just making sure one of the fastest bikes on the market was not your first. I've had a friend die that way. R1 bought off the show room floor and not even a learners for motorcycle. Lasted about a month. Layed it over once on a hill and was in the mid 100's when he couldn't make a turn. But back on topic. I would buy one in a heart beat the local shop has a black one I have been drooling over. That and a triumph sprint gt. I've logged almost 20k miles on two bikes. Both small cc. 600 39hp ~500lbs and 400 42 hp ~400 lbs I'm a fan of sport touring bikes also.
I bought a new bike a month or so ago for my trip around Australia early next year: It's a 2005 BMW 1150GS Adventure. Comes With 3 ali panniers, heated grips, abs, 30L tank, skid plate, crash bars, hand guards, 2x 12v aux ports and is ridiculously awesome.
Dang amazing bike.
GS Adventures are great bikes.
Tad heavier than a KLR650 :v: Sweetass bike though. Are those spotties I see? I'm currently re-covering the seat on my Across before selling it. Then I get to buy a new bike xD Then comes the licensing test so I can ride it :/
Spent my day cleansing + waxing her. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15344980/Bikes/100OLYMP/P101003.JPG[/t] AND THAT DAMN CHAIN STILL AINT CLEAN ENOUGH :suicide: [editline]28th July 2012[/editline] Oops. Ignore the crappy blur on the image, i was resizing the image in photoshop and decided to try and mess around with the picture, forgot the blur.
Decided to wash it again (After riding it in the rain the day after waxing it :( ) MORE WAX FOR THE WAX GOD [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15344980/Bikes/omatpy%C3%B6r%C3%A4t/zetksxr.jpg[/t]
I'll be buying my first motorcycle very soon I hope (though I wont get it home untill the 20th september, it's about 8 hours away from my house), if only the seller could get the second part of the registration (which he is supposed to send to the DMW to register the sale) and we can agree on a sale contract (haven't even heard what he thinks about it yet, he hasn't responded to my SMS, but I'll call him in a second.) Also bought my gear on monday, helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, boots and backplate - the whole thing, got around 50% off on the whole thing though, as the helmet had some markings (we checked, and it hasn't been damaged) and I got the gloves for free, and there was a big sale - 40-60% off on different stuff. But if this sale goes well, I'll be the new and proud owner of a 2010 Yamaha YBR 125cc :D It just sucks that I most likely can't get my license untill next spring :/
Cool! I'll be getting my first motorcycle lesson tomorrow, pretty stoked for it. Goal is to get it before the end of the year before they make you ride 125cc 11Kw bikes and make you take 6 exams (totalling at about €2000,- not counting lessons) to get to 35Kw and finally full sized bikes.
Holy shit, 6 exams? I thought the Finnish way was bad, forcing you to take two exams and several lessons, totaling around a little over 1000€. These prices... It's pretty much just legalized robbery.
I'll have to cash out almost 8k NOK (roughly 1000€) to get a license, and that's the minimum requirements and I'll probably have to get some driving lessons at 115€ each. I also have to pay 9€ just to get my picture taken, and then there's the fee to get the license itself (the actual card): 31€. I'll be taking the theoretical exam on friday, and if I pass, I hope I can start riding this season, and not have to wait untill the spring :D (and if I'm REALLY lucky I'll be able to get a license this season, though too late to ride that much, so that I can start riding on the first day of spring :D)
In Pennsylvania as well as other US states, you can get the permit for 10 dollars at the dmv with a simple test. You can ride basically unrestricted on a permit and never get a licence (no riding after dark, no passengers, always wear helmet.) Or you can take the free safety course and they give you a licence after the second day.

I had to pay 150 for mine (under 21), and if I wanted/needed to take it again I'd have to pay 250 (over 21). I'm from Cali, though.
Yeah that's true, and you pretty much wave or nod at everyone on a bike who approaches in the opposite direction. Don't bother doing it for the bikies though, they just give you the look that they want to beat the shit of you and steal your bike once they're done. I would wave to the scooters but i'm too busy laughing my head off. I once saw a guy with full racing leathers on riding a scooter, fuck it looked funny.
I'm months way late for this but I just get this warm fuzzy feeling when I see another rider return my nod. Once when I first started I actually had this bikie stand up and salute me which kind of threw me off-guard though. I like to return waves to kids too. When I got my L's my Mum told me it's sometimes a good idea to wave to kids because then they'll let their parents know there's a bike next to them.
Paid about $350 here for my license. 5 hours theory class - $80 Road Law Test - $10 Workshop class, 9 hour theory, practical practice and final test - $260.
I'm gonna talk to the seller later today to discuss a sales contract for the YBR, has anyone got any tips for what I should get into it? [editline]03. august 2012[/editline] I'm gonna go take my theoretical exam now, wish me luck!
The 2013 Ninja 250r has been revealed! Holy shit it looks sexy. http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes/2013-kawasaki-ninja-250r-revealed/21128.html Looks much nicer than the CBR250 now, and is fuel injected! Seems to be a huge overhaul in the engine compartment, too.
