I think if I ever get a literbike it's gonna be a ZX-10R if I can't afford an S1000RR (or equivalent "affordable" top dog) at the time. Gotdang they're sexy.
It's fifty cents per year you have left on your drivers license here. I paid four bucks and took my written test, just need to go take the riding test.

Seems to be a huge overhaul in the engine compartment, too.
Holy cock, this is much much sexier than the current one. Those headlights MMMMmmmmmm. It looks much more menacing too. Now I can finally stop my dilemma due to the old headlights.
I forgot to tell you yesterday: I passed! So now I just have to actually ride a bike and get the required courses and I could get a license :downs:
No radial brakes, lame engine. Do not want. At least it looks great.
Really radial brake needed for a 250? Besides those are mainly for inverted forks. This bike has it's forks the other direction My 400 has drums front and rear u would hate that.
No radial brakes, lame engine. Do not want. At least it looks great.
What do you mean by lame engine. Also according to the engineer, you can push it over the red line.
Really radial brake needed for a 250?
Well it would be nice if a SPORTBIKE had SPORTY features.
What do you mean by lame engine. Also according to the engineer, you can push it over the red line.
Two cyl :(
2 cylinder = best cylinder

In my opinion the Ninja 250 must have a 2 cyl. Its a really great little sportbike. And I honestly want one for myself too. A bigger bike can wait till I move to a bigger country.
I still love i4 250s

WR250 / DRZ400 or something. Also, i've NEVER seen a ninja 250 in real life. They're really unpopular in Finland.

Most motorcycles here are uninteresting and boring. The 250r had a little "characteristics", loved it.

Questions about my motorcycles seems to be split into two categories: Girls - Are you really getting a 125cc? (It doesn't seem like they're able to understand that I'm not getting a moped license (50cc max) like everyone else, and instead opting for the one above that) Guys - What motorcycle are you getting/when are you getting it? (Though we mostly talk about how awesome it is gonna be to get our motorcycles/mopeds, and discuss which they should get) [editline]14.08-12 01:47[/editline] It just hit me that I haven't told you guys about my first motorcycle, so I'll just copy it from the "Photos of your lawnmo- car(s)! V2" thread: I'll soon be buying my first vehicle: a 2010 Yamaha YBR 125cc Fuel Injected motorcycle. Getting a pretty good price on it (only $2700) [thumb]http://finncdn.no/mmo/2012/7/vertical-6/10/7/359/564/67_305073253_xl.jpg[/thumb] http://www.finn.no/finn/mc/used/viewimage?finnkode=35956467 I transfered the money to the guy that's picking it up, the seller got the sales contract and the registration/sales message is in the mail. He'll probably pick it up this week :D
I'm driving a REX RS Classic. It's a 50cc scooter that drives 25km/h(15mph) max, due to my license not allowing me to drive faster. I got it for 666€, because it was on sale at my nearby hardware store. It's a lot of fucking fun to ride with it, even though it is so slow. I live in one of the greenest parts of germany and the nature here is just beautiful. I also had an accident with it in March(Darn you gravel!). Luckily me and the scooter didn't take a lot of damage. When I'm 18, I want to do a license that allows me to drive a 250cc. Then I'll probably buy a Ninja 250 as I love its look, it's a good bike for beginners as I heard and it's pretty inexpensive compared to other 250ccs. Enjoy some pictures:
Wow, really? Only 25 km/h? I thought the EU had regulated it to 45? (that's the limit in Norway at least) What did you have to do to get that license?
I had to take like 12 theoretical hours at the driving school and then I went to the testing center, where I had to pass a theoretical test. All that stuff cost 100€ and you can do it at the age of 15.
Here it's 14 hours of practical training, then it's a theoretical test. You can take the course when you have got your learner's permit (at the age of 15, or when you're in the 10th grade), and you can take the test at 16. In total this will come at around 658€. Just the test and getting your license (without taking a picture, if you can do that) will come at just over 100€ So for 558€ more, you get 20 km/h extra... (legally)
Here its 5 hours of theory than theoretical test then 9 hours of more theory then practical test. Take the test at 16, you can use the theoretical test result to get other vehicle license too. Cheapest is a 250cc license (often called a moped license but you can use other 250cc bikes too) costing about 300€. Thinking about it, I haven't got any time to take my theoretical test due to school exams. I hope my colour blind test don't have expiry or I'll have to take both that and 5 hour theory and play extra again.
My kawasaki wouldn't start after work today. Apparently the steering lock has two settings. The other one leaves parking lights on and drains the battery. Whats the bloody point in that!? Why would anyone need to lock their bike and leave the parking lights on? *turn key* *dashboard doesn't light up* *wat.jpg* Damn sportsbikes are so hard to push-start too. Especially in a crowded parking lot. Whatever, i forgive you kawa. <3
It's for emergency situations e.g. being stranded on a dark road. You want people to be able to see you. That's why a killswitch also keeps your lights on; if you fall on a dark intersection it's handy you can turn the engine of fast without killing the lights.
Yeah, but why would you need that built in to the steering lock? If my bike runs out of gas somewhere out in the countryside or whatever, I'm probably not gonna put on the steering lock. And if I am, I wont be needing the lights.
My BMW has it too. It is pretty easy to feel if it is in parking mode though, so I have not had a problem. Also, I am selling my BMW and getting a Triumph after I come back from deployment.

Luckily though I was like 30 seconds from a bike shop so I just bought a new battery.
If I wasn't poor atm I'd buy some gear and get my bike license. Already read up on starter bikes n such. Found this gorgeous yamaha that I'd love to buy just to have for once I'm more experienced, but as i said, nomoney :c [editline]16th August 2012[/editline] http://southjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/3137471972.html Y so purdy
Been on the phone a good bit more than usual yesterday, started out with my dad calling me for the usual check-up (since he lives 5-6 hours away), for telling me that his buddy might be picking up my bike from the seller and to ask me about the Motorcycle course I'll be taking this month. Then I immediatly called the traffic school and asked about the date for the course. Since the teacher was away on his vacation, they didn't know, but told me the teacher would call me at around 5 (he didn't, but now he's back from his vacation so I'll call him later today) A bit after that my dad called again and asked me about it, I told him what the school had told me. Then some later, I discussed with my mother about my driving lessons (the school is on the other side of the fjord from my school, the only reasonable way over is by ferry and I would have to take the bus since I'm nowhere home), and suggested I tried somewhere on the same side as my new school, so I did. Out of the three schools I found by a simple Google search, only one responded - they didn't have the class I was looking for but recommended me to another school, which I then called and talked to for a bit. Since they only work from 7 am to 2 pm, I'll have to either go to school and leave at 11:30 and get an hour or two, or skip an entire day and get 4-5 hours (in total this will probably make me miss less classes and such, because of the time it takes to get to the driving school, but we'll have to discuss this later) Then, more talking to my dad! Now he called me to tell me his buddy was on his way to pick up my bike. (was super excited at this point). Some time later he called to let me know it was on it's way to his buddy's place (with his son riding it and him riding behind him). And then he called to tell me it was in his garage. Here he also told me about the faults his buddy and his son had discovered on the way, and what they suggested we do about it. The faults were an almost worn down rear tire (barely legal, if at all), a tuned down throttle (we knew about this, but we thought it could run on idle, turns out it can't.) and that you have to turn of the ignition and remove the key after it's stalled. They recommended we took it to a Yamaha dealer (as it says in the owner's manual) A bit after that again, he called me to tell me the form I need to sign and give to Statens Vegvesen (a norwegian version of a DMW), along with the sales contract I and the seller have signed, will be in the mail later today. So the next step in getting my bike here will be my dad picking it up from his buddy's place with a trailer, then he'll drive it to his place, where he'll then take it to my house around the 20th of september. Tl;dr: I've been talking to my dad all day about the transportation of my new motorcycle, it's now completed 1/3 of it's journey. [editline]I'm in love with one of my friends[/editline] Update: My dad bought a liter of oil today (neither me, my dad or his buddy thinks any of the previous owners have ever done any maintenance on the bike, including an oil change), a disc lock and a cover for the bike. He had also bought me this book about how to ride and mailed me it (I got it today), there's a lot of stuff here, really detailed, about how to ride. I've been watching a good bit of videos on YouTube, but none of them described things this detailed (stuff about how to sit during a corner, how to sit while braking and about fighting your instincts) Also: 1500th Post!
Alright. Now I'm a bit pissed now. After spending over 800 euro's (1000 dollars) on repairs alone, I can't even drive half a mile with it before I have to shut it down to avoid damage due to overheating. It gets so hot, the cooling tank starts to expel smoke/vapor in noticeable quantities. Mind you, this is with the lid tightly fastened. At the same time, when trying to accelerate, the engine does make more revs (sort of, not the proper revving sound), but the bike itself doesn't actually accelerate. I've spent almost all of my money on the bike and repairs, and I'm still unable to ride it to the supermarket, which is just under a mile away. I'm so frustrated and disappointed right now. Not at the bike itself, because that's heaps of fun the short times I've been able to drive it. No, It's because I've spend a fortune (for my standards) and anxiously waited around 2 weeks total, only to get a bike back which isn't drivable. Even if it's an easy to fix problem, I can't get the mechanic to fix it until after the weekend which also means I've got to wait again until it's repaired.
A closing update on this is in order I feel. In the end, I found out that the mechanic that was working on it to be clueless about the problem. I took the bike to a different shop and had to pay an additional 600 euro's/800 dollars (sigh...) to fix what was really wrong. Long story short, a mounting mistake of a new cilinder forced the piston to hit the cilinder head at 7500 RPM, resulting in incomplete cycles, and thus overheating and damaging the assembly. The other shop made some room so the piston could complete the cycle and repaired the damage. From start to finish, it took me roughly 5 months and a grand total of 2550 euros/3000 dollars to get the bike in a driveable shape... ... But man, does it feel good to finally drive it. Even if it's just a scooter, I'm really enjoying the biking charactaristics of it. Which brings me to my next point... I'm really considering of going for my motorcycle license. I've always liked the look of bikes, especially for the last few years. However, I'll have to decide relatively quick. New laws will come to pass on the 19th January 2013 that adds some completely bogus restrictions and costs to getting a license, making it prohibitively expensive.
3k on fixing a scooter? Assuming we're talking about 50cc, I think I'd just buy a new one (I think I could get a pretty decent one for under that price)
