Yamaha ‎2002 XT 225, about 8600km, thinking about buying it for $1500. This will be my first bike, wanted to know if it is worth it or not? I'll most likely be taking it to work/stores both about 1 mile away, and driving off road trails around here. I also hear there is somekind of motocross trail thing nearby. Here is a picture of it:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=229349310524436&set=o.273063422765352&type=1&relevant_count=1&ref=nf let me know if it doesn't work and i'll upload it.

Good bikes. Simple and reliable. They're not the fastest, smoothest or torque-yest and they don't have the best suspension ever but they're good to learn on, cheap to buy/run/maintain and just keep going.
Yeah that's exactly what I'm going for until I can get a street bike
Finally got my bike on tuesday, after a really long month. Came home from school to see my dad's car outside my house. I litterally couldn't stop smiling. [thumb]https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-9GHAKuEt_hg/UFwJbbudPPI/AAAAAAAAB9U/q4WYd-0IGy4/s679/photo.jpg[/thumb] I also went out and rode it for a bit last night (roughly 14,5 km). Except from the fact that I couldn't have my visor closed (it would fog up really quickly) and that I didn't have a headlight (the bulb is broken, gonna buy a replacement today) it was a really awesome trip. Dark, cold and raining, but still awesome. I managed to reach a top speed of 60 km/h :v: (after that I began to feel weightless and I worried if I could handle that speed, but be nice; it was my first real ride)
Well, I've got an update on my GS. Sent the carbs to some dude from GSTwins because after all my adjusting I just couldn't get it to stop letting gas in. Guy told me that whoever did the jetting job for the V&H exhaust didn't even finish, as it still has stock pilots and it's missing a couple of o-rings for the floats. Once I get it back, bike should be 100% road worthy as long as I don't run into any more problems.
Finally got my bike on tuesday, after a really long month. I took it easy on my first rides, but third of fourth ride on my GS I had it up to almost top speed (which isn't very fast, maybe ~110). Congrats on the bike, though.
Yeah, I can see myself want to get up to higher speeds, especially when I get my license and start riding around with my friends (one of which has a 50cc moped that does ~100-110) [editline]I'm in love with a chick that hates me. FML...[/editline] Does anyone know where I can buy a headlight bulb for a Yamaha YBR '09 mod.? It's a 12v 35/35W halogen bulb.
Wow, that's ridiculous, but at least they know their reputation and use it to their advantage. It's kinda sad, really. Every middle aged male I work with who's interested in a bike says they'd get a Harley, despite me trying to convince them there are other options out there.
I'd give a harley a shot but from what my father tells me(who's been riding for 40-50 years) they're like trying to steer a wheelbarrow at 80k's around corners. In a straight line they're comfy.
I think Harleys are ugly, heavy, slow pieces of junk but each to their own really
I think Harleys are ugly, heavy, slow pieces of junk but each to their own really
and harley riders rarely if ever give me the head nod when they pass and it makes me sad. :(
Well air filter arrived maybe I can get this thing running, oh wait still gotta wait on the fucking gasket thanks UPS.
Got any tips for stopping my visor from fogging up? Right now I can't ride with my visor closed, as it'll fog up so badly I can't see anything. And that could get cold/wet when riding in rain (which will definelty happen)
They make anti-fog sprays, I personally can't comment on them as I haven't used the bottle that I bought so long ago. Only other advice is get a helmet with better ventilation.
You can get pinlock installed on your visor, I don't know how much it will cost but it will probably eliminate any fog problems you have. http://www.pinlock.com

Really lets the water on the outside bead up and blow off
spit on it and rub the spit on it diver trick I learned when I was like 10
I've already got an anti-fog pinlock visor, it came with the helmet. Does spitting on it really work? Do you spit on the inside or the outside, what do you use to rub it out?
If it's affordable (and you can find one that fits your style), Scorpion's anti-fog shield is amazing. I've ridden in freezing conditions and didn't have to worry about my breath creating any fog on the inside of the visor. If it's viable, just crack your visor to get some airflow right under it.

You can also use dish soap. A couple drops spread to a thin film, then buffed with a cloth is what I've heard.
I tried to use dish soap, which made my visor smell like lemon (apparently, the lemons we buy smell wrong), and look clean, but when it should fog up, now it instead gets all blurry. I've got a problem where I struggle with breathing using my nose (I have to think about it), do you think this is the problem?
You could try having your visor open very slightly
I tired, but then it got so cold, and I could get wet when it rains (which it definelty will here in Norway), which I'd really like to avoid.
He's talking like maybe a centimeter open. That will let enough air flow in to keep it from fogging up. You shouldn't really get cold (maybe a little sniffle) and rain definitely won't get in.
I never had fog problems at winter when I drove my moped to school and back erryday at -20c
I never had fog problems at winter when I drove my moped to school and back erryday at -20c
You're lucky. My friend's cheap HJC would fog up when it was like 35F if you even thought about breathing through your mouth.
well i had a motocross helmet so you can't really fog up the goggles
Buying an 02 Monster 620 soon... Pretty excited, oddly.
Anything Ducati should be cause for excitement.
