Got to ride my bike for the first time really since we got it, the throttle got stuck though and I had to stop :( The field will never be the same heh.
Just changed my tire, it was REALLY about time.
Woo! Going to own my first bike in a few hours. So stoked
Woo! Going to own my first bike in a few hours. So stoked
Congrats! From one new bike owner to another, it's... a whole lot of fun. Somewhat frightening, but not so bad. Oh also my bike started up today. She rides beautifully.
Thanks man, can't wait to try it out after the weekend (I work literally the entire time.) So after taking a look at it everything seems fine, except for the back tire, which is looking pretty used up. And also my dad say's the clutch is shitty and needs to be adjusted, there is that little wheel thing on the Clutch/cable housing but apparently that is only a temporary fix, so how would I go about tuning this thing? I also can't really tell if it's in the most comfortable spot because I don't have a lot of experience with clutches. also, holy fuck I love this thing already. It feels awesome. I'm going to copy this to the What did you work on today thread? as well. Also I already fucked up haha, I was messing around with the clutch handle, I can't even remember what I was doing really, but it was turned on and for some reason decided to take off full speed into the workbench 3 feet away until I could get my hand on the break. No damage done.
Oh it's a dirtbike by the way, Yamaha xt225. I posted about a few pages back. here is a picture:
At 75 mph for almost an hour, on my 81 cm400e. My fuel line decided to pinch its self off. I had it cut alittle long but didn't think it like do that. That was fun. Just bog bog bog. Quit. Coast crank coast crank. No luck. Pulled to the Emergancy lane and we fooling with it still coasting at about 35 mph. And got it unpinched. Promptly trimmed and inch when I got home.
So today, while I was inside the DMV getting my tags/registration, law enforcement kindly decided to ticket my scooter for expired tags. God damn it.
Ok some dicknose backed into my scooter while I was getting a slice of 'za and bailed out before I could get his plates. What the fuck even is this now Even though he fucked up the ignition assembly the scooter started working again after 5 minutes on its own so the joke is on him and the laurels are on Italian engineering so fuck you Volvo man
I nearly bought a 350$ old moped yesterday to mess around with yesterday, but it sold before I phoned, it was just listed the night before. Was going to have some fun fooling with the engine and stuff, seeing how much power I could get out of a 50cc cylinder.
Jesus she must be like 11-12, and look what she can do.
So I have a question. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/18/Ducati_Monster_620_Dark.jpg That's my bike, and I've got some scratches on the exhaust cans. Most of them are fairly light, and I was going to sand them down and then repaint, but they're not really a color I can figure out. It looks like anodized aluminum, and I don't want to sand that. Any tips on repair?
So the best rate I've been able to find for bike insurance so far is $2400/year, which is better than the $3200 I was expecting. I think that by the end of next week I'll have my first bike.

Suzuki GZ250, insurance in Toronto is so high for young people it should be criminal. And HellSoldier, it was a quote from TD/Primmum (Primmum does bikes in Ontario through TD now), but if you're looking for insurance on a bike with a larger engine that 400CC in Toronto you'll be lucky to pay 5 grand a year if it's your first bike and you're under 23.

From what I hear I think I'll have lots of fun though. Thanks
I swear, if you're about to buy the same bike I am...
I swear, if you're about to buy the same bike I am...
Nah. By the time I get my first bike I'll probably be able to try my hands on the 2013 Ninja or get a similarly priced motorcycle. Has anyone heard anything about the Honda NC700? It looks quite unique.
Has anyone heard anything about the Honda NC700? It looks quite unique.
I have a bike magazine with a review about that bike, apparently it's really nice and comfy, super super reliable with a supergood mpg but somewhat boring overall.
Shit, I called the dealership and they only have one of their 250s left, and I got called to work today and have a driving test in the car tomorrow afternoon, stupid 3-tier Ontarian system...
Got the 77 or 78 gs400 running. Carbs rebuilt jets cleaned. Various plastic and rubber pieces replaced. Clutch cable replaced. New chain not on yet. Started right up and idled for 10 minutes.
Everyday I stare at one of our local Kawasaki dealer hoping that the 2013 Ninja 250r will be there. Still waiting.
new signals woo new vs. old also, came up with some ideas for a vanity plate: gudbai gstwin ntasqd holysh nogsxr p lame got gs nomoto which one would you guys pick? I'm limited to 6 characters.
Hey guys, Finally got my new turn signals in. Lookin' quite spiffy. Now I just need new mirrors. As far as that vanity plate, Watevaman... Holysh actually made my laugh a bit. I'd go with that.
Sexy. So uh, little problemo with my dirt bike, I can't seem to get it out of 6th gear, turned off it will only go into the 6th and either 5th or what ever is behind six that allows the wheels to unlock, BUT if I try to do this while it is turned on it takes off on it's own until I can shut it off.
Hey guys, guess what I bought today: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1jlLFh.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/pjiHn.jpg[/img_thumb] Suzuki GZ250 Marauder, my first bike. After taxes and everything put me back just over 3 grand. It used to be a driving school bike, so it's banged up, but it's being sold safetied, new battery, and delivered to my house. Kinda feel dumb for not testing it out, but by this point I don't have a riding preference, as the last time I rode a real bike was 3 years ago at my course, and it was a 250 Yamaha Virago, so a similar cruiser to this one, and as this is my first bike, it'll end up being a reference point for any future purchases I make. I know, though, that I like the feel of a cruiser over a crotch rocket sitting in it.
Gah! Snow coming in a few weeks. Would it be suicidal to get some old streetlegal dirtbike and ride it around the winter? :v: Nah, think i'll pass. Cars are sort of fun too, i guess :(
Ill keep using my bike untill there is enuf snow to use my snowmobile.
Went with my dad and ordered my christmas present today, can't wait to get them, so I can fix my bike :D What I ordered: * Chain case * Sidestand switch (old one is bent) * Footrest rubber, left and right (old ones are completely gone) I'm also looking at possibly buying a new dashboard for my bike, since the tachometer glass is broken and the case itself has a scratch (stupid previous owners, thinking it was a dirtbike/dual-sport...), but I'm not sure I can't afford it, especially with VAT (anything above $35 gets 25% VAT, a law that's from 1970...)
How far into the winter do you guys ride your bikes anyways? I figure you would stop once it started snowing but I've seen people saying otherwise.
