as long as it is above 45 deg i dont mind too much below that i dont have the cold gear to combat the weather.

I ride till it snows or roads become icy.
I got new knobbies for my bike for the first time (ever) in about 7000km. The rear tyre had about 2-3mm tread in the centre, so it was VERY square.
This weekend I went out to a farm 3 hours inland from home that my mate went to all through out his childhood. Having round tyres really helps make it easier to control when you get the back wheel stepped out so I got a lot of practice doing that :v:
I'm also much more experienced now than the last time I went up there, so I had a go at the jump my mate made a long time ago a shot. Unfortunately the digger wasn't there so we couldn't return the jump to it's former, larger, glory.
There's a couple more decent shots, but they're not on my camera, so I don't have access to them just yet.

You have no idea how jealous i am of your climate.
It's pouring water outside and it's 5 celsius. My fingers feel frozen for the next 45 minutes everytime i come from riding. My bike is constantly dirty because of the rainy weather.
Sigh.
How i wish it was summer again.
Last year, even though I didn't have a bike, I rode through most temperature ranges we have here on my friend's bike when it was possible. I rode mine up until December, when it was getting into the mid 30s but then I had my oil incident. My friend and I rode for about 4 hours one day when it was nice in the day but got freezing at night. I hated the ride back because I couldn't feel my fingers.
So the bike I'm getting has a few things that could probably use a touch-up, such as the paint on the gas tank (scratched from being laid down), the chrome on the exhaust (not likely going to be able to do this, but caused by the same thing), and a cracked piece of aesthetic plastic currently being held together with zipties. Does anyone know of a good epoxy or something I could use to fill in the cracks and holes caused by the zipties, and is there a particular type/brand of paint I should use for the touch-ups. And most importantly of all, is this possible for under $50? Because I can imagine hiding the scratches and damage will raise the resale value of it, but I want to be able to do it cheap to yield a good return on resale value. I don't mind the paint scratches personally, but I really would like to get rid of the zipties.
Also, should I be thinking of getting a better/brighter headlight lamp, or should whatever is already in it do fine?
Gonna be 48 deg f when I get off work tonight. Then I ride over an hour home. Hope the rain holds off.
In about a months time, out there, it'll be 40+ deg C (104+ F), ridiculously dusty and the flies where bad enough now.
Even here in the city it'll get over 40 deg, but at least it doesn't snow here in winter so I can ride all through the year.
A couple more photos for y'all.
I haven't got any helmet cam video because I haven't stuck a mount to my new helmet yet. I'll get around to it soon hopefully.

weird how you can see your front cog.
great pics though
i would love to have a bike like that/
Got some awesome news today. The guy who I sent my carbs to for "fixing" got the necessary parts yesterday and is most likely sending the carbs back tomorrow. Can't wait until I can ride again.

The bike had a combo magneto/sprocket cover that went over the shaft for the gear lever, so changing the front sprocket required removing the left foot peg to get the gear lever off so you could take the magneto/sprocket cover off.
It was broken anyway so I cut it out, made a case-saver and left it open because I always rode with my dirt boots. Now though, I ride to work in steel-toe boots and the legs of my pants aren't tucked into my boots, so I'm going to remove the case saver and make a cover for the sprocket.
When I got the bike:

My first (temporary) fix:

Current:

It's pitch dark outside, and raining heavily. And i'm out there riding.
Clutch cable snaps...
...In the middle of a city. 10km to home. Traffic lights, a traffic circle, and traffic ahead.
Decided to ride home on my own anyway, holy hell was that scary. Had to ride superslowly without the aid of the clutch at traffic lights.
ALSO SPEEDBUMPS. WHY DO CARS SLOW DOWN TO 2KM/H WHEN THEY GO OVER THEM, IT'S NOT LIKE THE SPEEDBUMP IS GOING TO DESTROY YOUR CAR IF YOU DON'T NEARLY STOP AT IT.
I've heard of many riders who put a spare cable on their bikes just for that reason.
I might have to do that.
So guess what got delivered today?

Aside from the rain meaning I didn't want to ride it. I just hope after I'm done my 2 midterms tomorrow that there'll be good weather when I get home.
Got my carbs back today. Now I'm waiting for some new fuel hoses and a stainless steel brake line for the front.
So I took my bike out for the first time today, screwed around in my neighbourhood, 50km/h feels a lot faster than I thought it would. All was well until after dinner when I go out again. I'm heading out of the driveway, my parents are watching, and I take the turn too wide. Suddenly I'm like "Oh fuck, gotta tighten this turn up" so something in me says to hit the brake. Well, leaning over and hitting the brake, I think you know what happens, I bail, with my parents watching me, my second time riding my bike. This is why I bought a used one, I knew it'd happen at least once. I then spent half an hour doing low-speed right hand turns, I can do them fine now around streets, but for some reason I can't do them right out of my driveway, I tried a few times, I still hit it too wide. Ah well, I didn't expect to be great the first time out, I know I need more practice before I'm even really ready to go on a major roadway, and a hell of a lot more before a highway, like I said, 50 felt rather fast. I need to get used to turning first still, I'm still not so good at it, then speed will come after, then dealing with traffic.
I posted this on the GS forums but I'll post it here as well if any of you got any ideas or if it might be normal:

This clicking/rattling only started after I put the head back on/timed it, etc.
It kind of sounds like something is loose, like a bolt or something. Maybe check all bolts to see if they are tight? A friend of mine got a bolt loose inside his engine, it drilled a hole through the casing.
Anyone here any good with insurance? Been looking to buy a 50cc Giantco scooter (chinese, yes, but one of the better chinese companies) and we've got an insurance quote on it, the cheapest was £450 and the highest was something ridiculous like £1000. That's far too much. Have any other 16 year olds got better deals? I'm just wondering if it's the fact that it's a chinese scooter, or maybe we're missing some kind of loophole or something because £450 is far too much for a cheap scooter.
No, that seems about right. You're 16, insurance on ANYTHING is going to fuck you, even a shitty little scooter. That 450 seems like your best option, and unless you can somehow get a group policy through an organization your parents are a part of, or through an organization you're a part of, which basically means your school, that's going to be your best price.
When I was 16 and pricing out insurance on a 50CC Honda scooter, I was getting quotes in the range of $1600-$1800 for where I live, and now that I'm 19, and in University, where I can get a group rate discount, I'd likely be paying between $800-$1200 on the same scooter, seeing as I'm paying $2000 on my bike.
I'm not sure what I've got, since I changed my information since my last quote, but I think I have £281. That's with 40% off, though.
Also, it's for a 125cc motorcycle. 16 years old, with a brake lock, locked in a "garage".

Wow that's a really steep price.
I'll have to have a good look around and see what I can do about it then.
50cc usually has like insurance of 300€ max over here
£413 elsewhere, no theft/fire cover either. I might try registering it under my father and myself as the second driver, not exactly legal but it isn't illegal either.
Jesus. Please tell me those prices are per year.
Hey all, thinking of getting myself a bike very soon. I was curious to know if anyone were able to give me a rough insurance price on a group 10 (Kawasaki ER-6F restricted). I'm 19 living in the UK, South Wales. Any rough guestimate?
