CBT booked for Saturday, can't wait. Not the greatest weather recently though, I hope it isn't chucking it down.
Your avatar fits that post so well. But yeah, I hope so too. I am doing mine tomorrow. Very nervous.
No need to be nervous at all, you'll have a blast. Going to see a YBR on Thursday so I might have a bike very soon, even though I don't have a job. Hopefully I'll find one before I run out of money :v:
Arrrrghgrhghrgghgh they couldn't take my deposit for the course over the phone, but they said it would be okay so I should come anyway, but they crossed me off the list and didn't phone me. I got up early and got my stepdad to drive me there for nothing. Rebooked for next week though. No appointments have gone to plan recently.
My first CBT was cancelled too haha, the guy was ill on the first date. Called me just before I went to sleep the day before I was due to do it
Went to the DVLA office at Wimbledon on Friday and have registered my bike, just waiting on the documents to come through so I can have plates made up!
http://twostrokemotocross.com/2009/01/two-stroke-vs-four-stroke-let-the-debate-begin/ wow look at these comment, they think 2 stroke is dominating 4 stroke for every reasons, im giving a couple of years then 4 stroke would be as light as a 2 stroke, even my 525 weight 250lbs dry.
I love 2 stroke way more than 4 stroke. That feeling when the powerband kicks in can't be beat.
I've got a 4-stroke, but ever since my buddies got their mopeds (supermotard style), I've been wanting one. But they're too expensive (I want a KTM 125cc, if you take out the restrictors they have ~40HP :v:) And now to the weather: IT'S POURING DOWN. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll aquaplane my bicycle :v:
Mother of... [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zlOkYysCNI&feature=share[/hd] Don't like the headlight, but DAMN is it sexy otherwise. And that sound...
The excitement is based not so much on what is known about the new prototype, but what the bike is based on. The RC8 R engine upon which the bike is developed, produces 129 kW (173 hp) of power and torque of 120 Nm (88.5 lb.ft) in its 1190cc form, with rumors suggesting the new bike will have somewhere between 180 and 200 horsepower by the time it hits showrooms. Whatsmore, thanks to the removal of everything that's not entirely necessary, the chrome molybdenum trellis frame and the carbon fiber everything else, this bike can be expected to be much lighter than the RC8 R which already tips the scales at 200 kg with a full tank and all lubricants.
Damn I want one. That beast is gonna kill so many people.
getting a bike tomorrow. All i need to do is replace the chain and the sprockets.
Had a go on my 50 for the first time today, only around a car park but christ it was great fun. It isn't restricted either, I was quite shocked at how much power there is behind it. CBT tomorrow, can't wait.
My new baby. Getting the sprockets and chain replaced as well as an oil change and it will be ready to ride when the parts come in. For a 98 it is in great condition. As you can see the end caps of the handlebars have been replaced but that was the only change other than the exhaust which I noticed.
Mother of...
I saw /something that looked like/ one of those in town parked at a building near the train station. I just thought "Holy shiznit, someone on Facepunch was talking about that bike."
Fell off on a country lane, cut my knee open, broke off the front brake lever and bent the forks. I still passed though. Woo
Just rode my new Yamaha ybr 125 home and is now residing around the side of the house. Pics soon!
I put down a deposit on a DR650se today. Going to pick it up/pay the rest some time this week. 06 model, 25,000Km, Sargent seat (comes with stock seat and other goodies). It's in awesome condition and it was cheap :D I think it has a new spring in it too, because I'm pretty sure the stock ones are yellow, plus the bike is taller than my mates dad's one. Here's a pic from the ad:
Whoa looks really clean for a 25k, for what your doing its definitely a good choice for its price and reliability.
I was shocked at how clean it is when I saw it in person. There's some light scratches on the right bar-end and a small dint/some surface rust on the bottom left corner of the tank (I'm going to put a big tank on it anyway). All the plastics are pristine though, not a scratch on them. No oil leaks, no dirt, nothing. The guy said he bought it to go around Australia with some mates, but that didn't happen so it's just been used for trips to the shops every now and then, and he's an oil Nazi (he's middle-aged and bought it off an older guy). I'm inclined to believe him. It'll definitely do most of the riding I want to do. Eventually I'll probably look at getting a dedicated trail bike. Something light and nimble for the tight, technical stuff. In other bike news, my mate had some problems with his DRz400 last week and tonight I helped him trouble shoot. It had been making a ticking sound when the bike was idling, then one day he went to take off from the lights and it just died and he could smell burning. The wiring form the battery back to the indicators and brake/tail light had all melted, including the fuse holder. Oddly enough though, it just seems to have been a coincidence that the bike stopped, because one of the wires from the ignition switch had come off :v: [editline]19th November 2012[/editline] I'm going to pick up the bike tomorrow night btw. I'm a little excited :D
The dipped headlight on my '08 ybr has stopped working, but I don't know what bulb to change them with. Any clues? [editline]19th November 2012[/editline] Never mind, I got dis

I hope all goes well.

I felt like a right prick, but at least I wasn't pulled over by the police car I rode past [editline]19th November 2012[/editline] If you ever feel like you need to stop in a short amount of time, don't do what I did yesterday and grab the brakes, you'll meet the ground real quick. got road rash on both knees now, as a constant reminder of what happens when you don't ease the brakes
tbh that's not usually very fast way to stop, depending on the surface and such thouogh like downhill on snow it's quite slow, the bike does stop but you won't
If you use the rear alone to stop it will lock up which could cause you to fly off over the top if you come off of it. The front brakes are the most effective, not many other ways to stop really.
I drove my moped like 6 months without a rear brake, never had any problems with stopping. Though on gravel roads a rear brake is useful
Okay just found out the previous owner/mechanic overfilled the oil. I drove it for at least three hours yesterday and I'm quite concerned. Bike didn't seem to have any problems after that. Hopefully I've dodged a bullet.

No one has ever done a stoppie with the rear brakes. On my shadow the front brake has all the power but at speed about 25mph it is damn near impossible to brake harder than the grip. But the rear will lock up in a heart beat. Front disk rear drum. Now the cm400e drums front and rear. All it stopping power is in the rear, but that's not saying much.

If the rear wheel is even slightly sideways and regains grip, its more than probable you're going to be thrown off the bike. Locking the rear brake is fine, as long as you keep it locked until you stop.

I could see some one getting sideways and tossing themselves from the bike.
I was going round a roundabout with some serious lean on my TT250 a couple months back, kinda mucking around because I was planning on giving the bars a good tug to rip the bike back up vertical. Right before I started to exit the turn the rear started to slide out and I tugged the bars which did rip the bike back upright. I guy from my work with was sitting at a lunch bar on the corner of the roundabout and watched the whole thing happen. He said it looked like I just about high-sided it. From a near low-side to a near high-side. Not bad I say... Also I got my new bike today :D Now I need to book myself a test and remove the <250cc restriction on my license. I'll get you blokes some photos soon, hopefully.
