People cant get over the fact that someone is moving faster than them in traffic and so some will move their car into your path or just in general try to stop you.
its legal in australia as long as you are overtaking from the right so you have to stay in the left lane. if i was to be pulled over for it id probably pull that card.
My sled is done for.
Now i want a timbersled kit for my bike.
In Australia yes. Called lane splitting when traffic is moving. You can kind of get away with it if traffic is stationary though.
And if you're gonna do it, ride slowly between the cars as some motorists don't like it and will try and take you out.
Lane filtering is when cars are stationary and I have no idea what the rules are for it in Aus but where I am in VIC I've never seen a bike get pulled over for that or lane splitting either. Especially in peak hour. No cop's going to flash the lights in a traffic jam to catch some biker up the front. Unless you're popping a wheelie and being a dumbass of course.
I don't know how it is in other states or countries, but here in California you can overtake in between two lanes as long as you've got the balls to do it. Generally I overtake by just signalling and swapping lanes, or splitting lanes on the freeway if traffic allows it.
Or just buy a loud ass Ducati like I did and everyone will just get out of your way.

I'm a little bit wimpy on the freeway with my 250, I honestly don't think it'd be fast enough to split lanes safely. If it's bumper to bumper I'll work my way through, but never at high speeds.

Yeah 250s might lack the fierceness required to overtake at high speeds. I had a ninja 250, it was my favorite bike ever, regret selling it man. Here are some pics of me on my trip to the highest point in the South Bay.
I'm in the middle, my bike is left on the first pic and middle in the second.

Supposed to be 70F on Sunday (averages are normally at like 40F high this time of year), so I'm thinking of taking my bike out for a nice day trip to the mountains. Only thing is I'd probably be alone since my riding buddy is gonna be busy.
Bought a new x ring chain.

Rough, my riding buddy sold his bike because he couldn't afford the rego+insurance for both his car and bike. I got insanely drunk last night though and agreed to ride along with a couple randoms soon.
If that actually happens I will laugh.
These guys are really new to their licenses though so I can only pray that I don't fall off before them. Please.
I rode home in the wet (as opposed to damp) for the first time on Friday. No big problems, just making sure to avoid the painted areas and manholes. Most of my problems came from my glasses fogging up because of the increased moisture in the air. Normally they'll clear right up with a crack of the visor but not this time.
And weather forecast got shittier for tomorrow, so no mountain trip for me. I guess it's for the better, as it gives me time to plasti-dip my wheels and get new sprockets/chain.

Once I took my duc out after a fresh rain, and I swear to god I had 0 traction. It was the scariest thing ever, a simple right hand turn felt like taking the corkscrew at laguna seca.
My CBR is impossible to ride when its wet out. Painted lines on the road are like a death sentence.

What tire ya running?
My shadow on metzlers marathons does great inthe rain.
So does my cm400e on god know what cheap ten yr old tire that is on it.
Just avoid the paint and take it easy and keep the revs lower. Hell in a down pour I can out run the cars. Thin tires don't hydroplane.
I got a new camera :D (Sony NEX-F3)
It takes pretty pictures:

Also I got my mid-pipe today so I can mount up the GSXR-1000 can I got a few weeks back.
Pretty drama free to fit up and it sounds a lot better. The stock carb on the DR650s doesn't have an enricher for when you shut the throttle off so it gives quite a decel- pop. More importantly it's a nice deep note and not too loud. I'll probably stick a spark arrestor in it which should quieten it down a tad more.
There was an air leak at the join between the mid-pipe and can at the bottom when I took it for a test ride earlier. I tweaked the torque on the nuts so hopefully that's fixed now. Also I still need to finish off the mounting bracket (it was just a quick, temporary one).
The GSXR cans on DR650s has been dyno'd to compare to the stock and FMF Q4 cans and the GSXR can gives better low-end torque. I'm pretty sure it has done that for me, but I need to do some more riding to figure out just how much it has.
Mid-pipe next to GSXR can:

What a guy.
That's awesome.
got my exhaust off today, need to drill out the holes on the new ones just a little more for them to fit properly and then they will go on this week. Fairing repair is at a halt till i go out and buy a jigsaw or some kind of saw.

this thing kicks ass
Went for a ride yesterday and took my new camera along. I took a lot of video (went through a tunnel in the city to hear my new exhaust but it was peak-hour :/ ) but most of it was pretty boring.
Finally got around to trying to reduce wind noise today. It's a bit better I think, at least at lower speeds. Might see if I can improve it more.
I might chuck some of the interesting bits of video together.
My first try at HDR from yesterdays ride:

This bike is gorgeous, oh man am I jealous! That kind of styling really gets me.
Here's mine.
78 Kawasaki KZ200. First bike, bought it in good shape and have just been riding it (not now cuz it's winter, ug). Great bike.. but only does like 60mph.

This fall I also bought a 78 Yamaha 750 triple. I painted it a couple years ago and the guy never got it running afterwards.. so he sold it to me finally for $200. It sat outside for those 2 years.
I've since gotten it running, replaced a caliper, fixed the two others, replaced cables.. and now it's about ready to ride, just needs a little wiring cleaned up. The problem is it's a little big for me, I think. Once I get some time on it I may just sell it off.
