I'm not as "mind = blown" as others about this, some of the special effects were a little 'meh' in my opinion. [sp]for example the endless bays of clones looked pretty naff and some of the 2 Sam's together scenes could have been better. That said, there were a few '2 Sam's" scenes done alot better than that kind of thing is usually done. Not sure why some were good and some were bad, little off putting. Likewise with the CGI, the clone bays sucked but GERTY and the Moon Surface was done really well..[/sp] however it was still a pretty good movie. Better than most in recent years, District 9 was better tho.
You realize that [sp]the Sam's were different actors, right?[/sp]
"Robin Chalk as younger Sam"
I don't recall seeing a younger Sam
[sp] He was the clone. Because if you think about it, the clone is three years younger than the "original". [/sp]
No, he isn't.
He is, sorry for breaking your elitism.
Moon's budget was $5 million.[11] The director took steps to minimise production costs, such as keeping the cast small and filming in a studio.[9]
Well they sure as hell weren't gonna film on location.
Just finished watching this, was amazing.
[sp]GERTY was such a great character. I was sad when he told Sam that he was a clone and then cried. :([/sp]
[sp]Also I liked how they didn't reveal too much at the end, but gave you a glimpse of the media calling Sam a nut.[/sp]
I saw this when I was in London, it wasn't playing at my local Cineworld. Was pretty good serious sci fi, not quite what I was expecting though

It says in the credits
"Sam Bell - Sam Rockwell
Sam Bell Clone - Robin Chalk"
Just saw this with 2 other friends, pretty great movie. Ending wasn't that mind blowing, but there was a huge plot twist in about the middle.

Have a look at this picture [sp]OF THE CLONE - Notice how he's clean cut - the first sam you see is never clean cut and is always rugged and unkept[/sp]

[sp]That's Sam Rockwell, are you trying to tell me that's not Sam Rockwell?[/sp]

[sp]It makes multiple references to the fact that it's always Sam Rockwell. Can't you people identify faces or something?[/sp]

And an interview with Sam Rockwell, clearly stating [sp]that he is both of the Sams:
D: But you’re a very technical actor, too. How did you get your head around having to act opposite yourself?
SR: This is the most challenging technical film I’ve ever done, except maybe Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. But that was just prosthetics. This was so crazy. We had this motion-control camera—

Guys, if you were tempted to look at a spoiler and you are raging at yourself, last month in psyc class our professor told us if someone spoils a movie plot for you, to watch it with someone who doesn't know, he said you'll enjoy it more, something about the other person reacting to the movie in ways that you aren't due to knowing of the plot, so...

They are clearly 2 different actors, why does this interview exist?
They're two different actors, but they look crazy similar. There's still a pretty obvious difference though.
yeap, 2 different actors guys
all the footage of robin chalk is where you dont see his face, e.g. shot from behind sam, etc
Bought it on DVD yesterday. And yes, fucking epic, brilliant movie a must-see!
Been dying to see this, it wasn't shown in any of the theaters around here.
Thanks for the heads up.

Wait, so there were 2 different actors, but one of them was only used for scenes where you didn't see his face, and Sam Rockwell still played both Sam's?
[editline]10:13PM[/editline]
I really liked how it was done, there were times where it was obvious what tricks they used, which didn't really distract me from the movie but I knew how the did it, you know. And then suddenly they'd touch each other and this would take me by surprise because I thought I had figured out how they did it.
i lol'd at "kevin spacey (Lex Luthor, 21 teacher)" as if those are the roles he should be known for
The film was amazing, Sam Rockwell is a really great actor.
Wow. This movie was fucking powerful.
[sp]"We aren't programmed. We're people." *shuts off Gerty*[/sp]
[sp]Think about it. I picked up a big 'no free will' vibe from this movie.[/sp]
Just saw this after a really long time of wanting to see it.
Really really good film. I don't know how underrated it is, but it being an independent film and only shown in a few theaters, probably very underrated.
Moon is such an artistic movie. The CG in conjunction with the soundtrack was phenomenal, it really brought a feeling of loneliness and solitude to the film.
It's films like these that need to be shown to the mainstream media. It's a shame most people won't give movies like this a chance.
I have high hopes for Duncan Jones.

Awesome movie, despite its low-budget-ness and the fact I had to watch it in a small theater, whose mascot is a dead cat, in the back of an old church.
I don't care how low-budget a film is. I feel the same way as Peter Jackson when it comes to budget for movies.
The more money you have to make a film, the farther you stray from the story and the more you spend on fancy effects and flashy CG.
Low budget films are generally much more developed than big hits that were made with half a billion dollars.
And, some of them are actually better than big hits that were made with half a billion dollars. Look at District 9. Not incredible, but definitely a good film.
I really think it's a damn shame movies like these don't get the attention they deserve, because they deserve as much attention as Avatar is getting.

Spoilers tags!
Well, I can't add them to your quote. Nice going.
Hope it's released in Australia.

With that incredible logic, student films are the most incredible contributions to cinema ever.
I'm watching it right now.
Could've sworn I saw a post-it note saying "Kick me" on GERTY's back...
Hope it is released in the UK!
Aw shit has it not been released here? Damn it does look good.
Aw shit has it not been released here? Damn it does look good.
I'm in the UK and I bought it the shop a month or so ago. So go buy it!
Oddly enough, I find the DVD everywhere where I work.
Was totally worth it. The box itself is really well made - it sticks out a LOT.
The movie itself was a little slow, but was very good regardless. It's one of those movies you grow to love and end up watching every year, kind of like A Christmas Story.
