So, I just found the holy grail of thrift stores. It's been open for about 2 weeks now, and he's already got a massive collection of amazing pieces, including: a big showroom; [t]https://i.imgur.com/TDpwyjJ.jpg[/t] awesome cameras; [t]https://i.imgur.com/yKsyMEG.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/B6wOuel.jpg[/t] the creepiest, non-ada compliant basement with extra goodies, old timey car decanters, and creepy pelvises; [t]https://i.imgur.com/goE7mhC.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/5pyNWut.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/QBjKQQ9.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/rdSUAUV.jpg[/t] and the absolute star of the show, not only two working super 8 projectors, but a functional gramophone AND a functioning edison phonograph machine. (the edison machine is recently refurbished.) it was like walking in a museum where I could touch, buy, and use everything. the guy there was super genuine and his collection is just awesome. I'm losing my goddamn mind, and this place isn't even outside of town! Also, this might be the first ever 4k 60fps footage of a phonograph and gramophone? too bad i recorded it vertically like a goober, whoops. If i had the space and the money, oh my god would i pick that gramophone up in a heartbeat. will be posting here if i ever find any more goods from him. for now, i've just got this neat little army surplus canteen (he had a ton of ww2 stuff that i regretted not taking a photo of.) here's all the photos ive taken so far.
I’m super jealous of how much good stuff is in there. I’ve only seen a dictaphone in a movie. I wonder how many gramophone records he has for sale?
Had a small vinyl find yesterday: Cheap Trick - (Self Titled) Van Halen - Van Halen II The Cars - Panorama Yes - Fragile All in great shape for a combined $14.

[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/389568882433720320/image.jpg[/t] arte get, $10.99 at Goodwill, for my game room 'cause it reminds me of my town's square also got some more tapes, more good movies but most remarkably, the 1984 live action adaptation of masters of the universe :v:
$2 generic/unbranded component switch from Goodwill, resold for $30 on ebay. Those aren't anywhere near as common as composite switches.
So this is a hell of a thing I didn't expect to fall into today, but I'll be damned if I'm not grateful. My best friend's boyfriend's mom was trying to get rid of her ex-boyfriend's AV equipment (mind you it's a musician filled family who have some fairly rich blood) and thus I was first in line. A couple receivers, a full amplifier, and a cd player all from the 90s. Not only that, but they also had a complete surround sound set of Klipsch speakers (my favorite brand which I already own a set of) and they let me have all that for the "Get it out of my house" price of free. [t]https://i.imgur.com/bN0iqdq.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/egS9uCa.jpg[/t] gonna probably set these up with my computer, tv, and record player in my bedroom, since i'm already happy with my set in the living room. that way I can listen to my records properly while on the computer. in the meanwhile, gamestop is selling a bunch of PC games for super cheap, and I've been waiting to collect these steelbooks for awhile. They're all $2 if you're interested and are pretty much at any gamestop. [t]https://i.imgur.com/g10qWr0.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/b4ruz1c.jpg[/t] also they come with the soundtracks! [t]https://i.imgur.com/9exNpHz.jpg[/t] good fuckin day today. tomorrow i'm gonna go visit that thrift store and explore some more.
Feel free to send any of the Klipsch my way if your bored of them. :v:

Everything in that picture they had at mine as well, I guess they're loaded down with mounds of backstock and want it outta their stores.
I picked some of those up as well, thanks for the tip. My local GameStop didn't have any, but a nearby one had 8 of them, except for #1 (Nuclear Throne) and whatever #3 is. Also if you're into Amiibo, each GameStop had two or three new copies of Amiibo Festival for Wii U for like $5.

After 5 years of collecting junk I finally sold something. Got $100 for my antique Märklin toy steam engine, which was in somewhat poor but restorable shape.
Crossposting from sipwicket
I got this for $5 at Goodwill [t]https://i.imgur.com/648Owee.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/XqrkGsh.jpg[/t] Looking at the pins, I found why it ended up in Goodwill One little bent pin Fixed it maybe? I need DDR3 to test this board. [t]https://i.imgur.com/6Lsj3oO.jpg[/t]
My pool table turned out to have a really thick wood top rather than slate, so none of the pool table service places will touch it. I wanted to get it re-covered in purple felt. :(
[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/390956533703245834/image.jpg[/t] Another art acquisition - $25 for this piece. 1968, serigraph, signed by the artist. Last time it sold at auction it went for $700. I see another signed example of this print on eBay for $640 right now.
okay so i went to another university surplus sale besides getting a usb dvd drive for $5 and another lenovo monitor for $10, I got this thing for $10 (with all the cables) [t]https://puu.sh/yBo8o/8fc26aa0cd.JPG[/t]
i sold this for $330 and wasted all the money on neo geo games

Love it! I miss my little ThinkPad. I also had an old old old Toshiba that had a black and white LCD and an impossibly small hard drive when I was really young.

I bought a cassette deck today. An Akai GX-M10 deck from 1979/1980. Includes some hot features like basic Dolby NR, a glass tape head, two auto search systems ('memory' and 'IPSS') that I don't know how to use, a timer of some type, and the world's largest recording level knob. Beautiful machine. You can't see it in the photo but the rest of the exterior is a fake wood grain. It's built like a tank and everything just feels and looks right. Audio quality is great if the tape is in good condition. If it's in bad condition my JVC from 1987 has a better time playing it weirdly. Also I can't get this to play my Oasis - Wonderwall single, even when it's new and works with the JVC. Literally every other tape plays.
Found a 1920s blues record the other day. It might be worth some money. [t]https://www.imgur.com/gallery/I3pSf[/t] (Why don’t my images show up?)
You gotta link the images directly, right click on them and pick copy image address, put it in [t] tags. Should look like this: [t]https://i.imgur.com/Y54Ces6.jpg[/t] [editline]21st December 2017[/editline] In other news, the pool table I thrifted a few months ago got re-covered yesterday. [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/284081712726540289/393443990629777438/image.jpg[/t] I went with purple felt. (table is still being reassembled here)
That looks fantastic.
Wednesday's thrift, didn't bother taking pics of the unremarkable records I got. [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/393574553139544065/image.jpg[/t][t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/393576458036969482/image.jpg[/t][t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/393574564400988191/image.jpg[/t] Ice tongs because those are always fun... $5, marked AMERICAN ICE CO. with a phone number. I have seen lots of double jointed ice tongs but this is the first set I've seen with a slider to make them behave better. Neat mechanism. It was seized when I got it but I had it moving pretty freely even before I got it home and oiled it. Works great now. [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/393574583615225856/image.jpg[/t] Grappling hook. No idea what this came from or if it's even a "real" grappling hook (as opposed to a decorative object) but either way it will soon be a coat hanger in my game room. I'm going to suspend it from the ceiling by a chain.
hung from an even smaller grappling hook, I hope.
we use a pair of ice tongs as a paper towel holder [t]https://i.imgur.com/jpICDjh.jpg[/t]
That is an awesome idea, I have another pair that that might work with but these are too small. I really like that it doesn't seem to require any alteration to the tongs.
