Holy shit man , 1800s was not medieval for Bulgaria , I could ask my old history teacher he can identify exactly which century this is from , finding old stuff like this is really common here , friends have found coins and blades from around 700-800 while digging up their own yards .
Hey I was banned but now I'm not. I was just teasing about Bulgaria being medieval in the 1800s. I'd really be interested to get any second opinions about the history of this thing. It should be here within a few days so I can take pictures of any specific features. Right now it could literally date from about 900 AD to 1800 AD. One clue is the way the eye is closed, which apparently fell out of fashion in the 1500s, but I don't think that alone is enough to say for sure. The second blade that's been attached to it is obviously of higher quality manufacture than the original axe head, so I'm guessing the original axe is significantly older than the big blade. Beyond that I have no idea.

It's not good enough for actual work but it'll look fine on display and it won't fall off while it's being handled. On a modern axe, this handle would be great. I don't currently have the tools to make one perfect for the shape of this thing's eye. I'm going to pop it back off and stain it a darker color before I wedge it in place. It should be pretty solid once the wedge is in. I still wouldn't use it for hacking anything, though. The original axe is probably 1500s-1600s. The new blade is a piece of a plow or something like that and is obviously both newer and made of a much higher quality steel (and workmanship) but it still shows a lot of tool marks and imperfections so it's not machine era or at least wasn't made on a machine.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/YeO45Mo.jpg[/t] Decided not to stain it. If the handle got nicked, it'd show light wood under the stain and look stupid. It doesn't look that bad with the light colored wood. So... that's wedged. Done.
Found this thing at a local second hand store. I'm not sure if it's a letter-opener or a dagger. I'm mostly unsure because the back of the sheath has a belt-loop and the blade (the tip especially) is REALLY sharp. [t]https://i.imgur.com/WRjWJXs.jpg[/t] It's pretty, though.
I had an unexpectedly happy find just now. 2 crowbars like the one from Half Life. If I get around to it, I’m going to paint them red like in the game and then give one to my friend for his birthday. [t]https://i.imgur.com/zMoPjxA.jpg[/t]

Some are actual antiques and some are copies. They're targeted at soldiers who bring them back at souvenirs.

The rust on it is at least genuine, and the blade is very solid, the big throwoff is the handle, which (while metal) feels very "thin". I'm gonna assume it's a copy with some wear and tear, but I might bring it to a valuation office and see what they think.

Accidentally bid more than I wanted to on an auction and won. :v: So now I have another 1700s book! I'll post pics when it gets here. But I think it's just sermons.
Got this for $30. Thought the post office lost it but the mailman brought it by today. [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329279019075764227/422868683111792641/image.jpg[/t]
East German air force?
Yeah. I dunno if the cockade has any special meaning (I've seen them with and without the cockade) but that's what it be. Like most NVA surplus it's unissued and just really nice. Nice materials, nicely made. And of course being a pattern copy of the old Nazi peaked caps it's very imposing.
Yea, despite everything, you gotta say, nazis had stylish hats.
The East Germans just kind of aped the entire Nazi aesthetic, jackboots and all, but gave it a Communist twist. They're the Commienazis that keep the GOP up at night.
Japanese thrift stores are hecking amazing
A couple of recent purchases! [t]https://i.imgur.com/IFKNja6.jpg[/t] A very rare British AR2/1 aircrew gas mask from the 70's. [t]https://i.imgur.com/jPOTCFk.jpg[/t] And an either West-German, Belgian or Dutch (still trying to figure out which) post-ww2 tankers helmet, based off of the WW2 US design.
