Because he didn't see any plane. He could hardly see anything. The tower fell while he was on the top floor. He saw nothing but dark, black smoke, and all he felt was hitting the ground.

I thought that the ISS wasn't on a geostationary orbit. So that video is incorrectly titled. More like video feed from some possible spysat or googlesat.
