I started rewatching the anime some weeks ago, little over half way through.
And this shit is just sad americanized bullshit.
The main character isnt even the same. In the anime Light finds the book, tests it a couple of times, THEN later the shinigami comes and finds Light, but Light has already filled out several pages.
Where is this character??
They're taking the concept and doing their own thing with it. I'd rather have that than trying to remake the Anime in Live Action form. If I wanted to watch the original story I can just rewatch the Anime.
Maybe this L is a decoy from the real L.
you know how assblasted people will get if a black guy is a decoy for a white or asian guy right
that's a thing the character does in the original, he says it makes him smarter or some shit
He's also supposed to be a weirdo loner with no social skills.
you know how assblasted people will get if a black guy is a decoy for a white or asian guy right
What really kills it is that while L in the anime was this extremely detached person with vibes that never went unnoticed, L here leaves an impression of being a normal person, with an idiosyncratic sitting position that doesn't explain itself, just thrown in without a second thought on how it fits with his overall personality.
This looks nothing like the source material.
L doesn't feel like L at all. Getting mad and upset, slamming the phone, not looking like he's thinking more than he's talking. THE HOOD/MOUTH MASK COSTUME IS HORRIBLE.
Kira seems dumbed down as well.
I'll probably watch it just to see if they do anything new, but I really don't like the casting for L and Kira.
But is the soundtrack going to be just as shivering as the original because i would get goosebumps as soon this started to play

I hope they have the Aphex Twin and BoC rip off songs

sounds extremely similar to Cliffs

extremely similar to Turquoise Hexagon Sun
This looks like a train wreck. But it's on Netflix so whatever I'll still end up watching it lol
Honestly what makes Death Note is the ending.
Of which season
I didn't watch season 2 it felt like a retread [sp]lol L died but everyone liked him so let's bring him back[/sp]
the very last episode
Death Note: Evolution
I'd recommend at least giving it the old "3 episode rule", since Death Note doesn't really get interesting beyond its core concept until L gets involved:
This is what the press conference in the netflix series should be.
I mean it still could be but doubt it.
L character does sound whiny.
I don't mind changes when they do live action stuff as long as they keep the same excitement and enjoyment without treading too far from the original story.
I mean at least they didn't ruin the Shinigami?
the very last episode
idk my head cannon says it ends at S1
I actually liked the ending of Death Note anime. I just didn't like the 2nd L character.
Dafoe is gonna be the only good part about this.
idk my head cannon says it ends at S1
frankly the second season wasn't terrible but it was written purely for cash. after the author realized the immense success of the manga it pushed him to write more. thus, it can be assumed that originally Light was going to take over the world in the end. be thankful that he stopped instead of falling into the trap that many other mainstream mangas tend to.
the bulk of it isn't great, but i enjoyed the finale.
I don't think anime/games in general have ever transitioned well in live action films and/or shows.

I like the live action Japanese movie series.

Direct adaptations suck but loose inspirations like the matrix are great

I read somewhere that another media of Death Note had L [sp] live past when he died in the show[/sp]. something like
[sp] L had a feeling Kira would try and write his name down in the death note the day he died in the show, so he wrote his own name down giving him much longer to live. Ends up catching Kira and destroying the death notes. [/sp]
So he just shows himself but with the mouth covered? What the fuck.
Isn't that all you need to negate a death note?

That was the live action movies. The first two movies are the first half of Death Note, and they pretend the second half doesn't exist. After that, they go in their sorta own direction.

Okay, it's going to be shit. I know now.

a sequel to those just came out called Death Note: Light up the new world and it wasn't even bad

Yeah, i watched it recently and it was actually OK.
I heard L Change the World was pretty cool, seeing as it [sp]followed L during the last few months of his life while solving a case[/sp]
There are a fuckton of sequels of Death Note (L: Change the World, Light up the new world, New Generation), all of which lack the wit, the thrill, and the character depth compared to the original. Without Tsugumi Ohbas' involvement, Death Note is lost.
For anyone interested, this came out on Netflix. I saw it and didn't like it at all.
I thought it was neat.

Granted I saw the anime many years ago so i didn't really came with the expectations that the film would be as good as the show.
From someone that's not a big anime fan, and never saw the anime... I enjoyed it for what it was.
They definitely tried to fit too much into too little time, but it really isn't as bad as people are saying. I think most of the people that hate it are fans of the anime and expecting it to be 100% the same or total shit.
