I was going to agree with you until I saw this..
Seriously? I don't think you should be handing out fashion advice. I understand that trendy shit today looks really stupid (ed hardy, ect) though.
WTF!! Ed hardy is amazing .

I think personally, as a character in iconic American history and culture, -and- fashion, James Dean personally; mentally, physically, and apparel-wise, set the bar for the epitome of *man*. His fashion sense even to this day can be considered -outdated-, but it's a style that will never die, and will always be fashionable on the right man, if pulled off correctly. That's not needless to say you can't tote around a style without the mental and spiritual thinking of which Dean followed. To complete the style, you must -be- the style. What the style itself represents.
Notice in the second picture how perfectly tucked the button-up is. How well the sleeves are rolled and how they conform perfectly to his arms and biceps. The jeans, the belt, etc'. And the hair...Especially the hair. His posture as well is perfect.
It's a fashion I rarely see pulled off by men, -without- the tooliness and what it truly represents. Rarely when I see people toting such a style, they're missing what Dean himself stood for, and the reason he dressed so perfectly and cared so much about his appearance. Why he dressed the way he did, we'll never truly know. But his sense of style and fashion will never die; globally.
You can tell me this style is out-dated, sure, but this style helped -define- how men dress today in the fashion industry. James Dean himself set the bar for manliness in every way, and among fashion designers all over the world, he is considered a hero to the fashion statement of which he expressed.
The boots I still look for too this day. I'm a huge fan of styled boots and unique ones, like;
.
Jimmy Dean cared about his appearance because he batted for the other team, if you know what I mean. But yea I agree that he dressed incredibly well, but that sort of clothing only really suits a slim figure, for generally muscular geezers like me, it kind of looks either halfway between hulks transformation, with the materials all stretched out, or overly baggy. I need a damn fitted suit, I'm getting one as soon as I get my Job as a journalist.

Cowboy boots are practical, as in they serve a purpose and were designed that way for a reason. The same applies to motorcycle boots and I'd say they're more badass than cowboy boots, but that's beside the point. The only purpose the boots that guy is wearing serves is to bring us one step closer to being a unisex species, a.k.a. a bunch of flaming gaylords.
I'm a fan of wearing plain t-shirts, usually white or grey. But I LOVE having a second layer on, whether its a hoodie, jacket, flannel shirt, ect.
My jeans are more baggy then usual, and they have some designs on the pockets. I'm pretty sure that people in this thread would find this stupid but normal jeans just look too plain to me. I'm also not a fan of wearing tight pants, they just feel awkward, especially if you put your phone/wallet in your pants.
Shoes, I just buy what looks nice, I recently bought some black shoes with yellow shoelaces. I think they are a love-or-hate type of thing.

Brand might not manly in the original sense, but he is an oversexed ladies man, which I think is a lot more masculine that my muscular introspectiveness.

or maybe they just get more pussy then you, since they're interested in caring what they look like.
10 t-shirts, underwear, 3 hoodies, 3 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of sneakers and some socks and you're in my fashion.

Yes sir, baggy jeans are on the out. If you have the body for skinnies it's most certainly the way to go.
Baggies make your legs look wider and goofy. This pair here are quite obviously about twice as wide as his leg, especially at the ankle. Straight sides just don't do it.

Why not show off the definition of your body.. a set of skinnies compliments a fitted shirt that accentuates cuts, especially pecs.
Here's a good example.. shirt could be a tad tighter, but overall he shows the look well

another good specimen

I wish I could find nice looking jeans that fit my legs :( I'm stuck with loose fit.
[editline]09:15PM[/editline]
also, I get athletic people showing off their 'definition', but half the scene kids and hipsters in my school are just Dachau-mode, they haven't really got any definition.
s
I fucking love vintage shit, shame I don't like wearing it to school
also new fedoras and new "newsie" type hats suck
I mean, pecs on a hipster? good luck.

Great post; enjoyed reading it.
Though honestly boots are great, the heels on those boots from the models picture look like they'll seriously fuck up your back if you wear them constantly, then switch to a low/no heel like a sneaker, low-cut boot, etc'. Happened to my dad, and happened to me for awhile. Painful.... Pain sucks, but that's because I made the change from wearing just no heel shoes like Sneakers and loafers, to boots in a big step. Pain stopped for good, so now excersising isn't a problem anymore. It -was- for a while because the pain on my spine was really bad D:

I hear ya'. I only have a few very special pair of jeans I enjoy wearing that feel like they were built to match my legs. Tight and skinny, but boot-cut/straight-cut mixed, and -right- below the ankle so they don't ride up the leg when I sit down. That isn't to say shorts and regular old skinny jeans, baggy jeans, trousers and cargo-pant/shorts aren't good as well. Can't live in jeans forever, specially if you work outside all day in the mud and dirt doing gardening/landscaping. Can't afford to keep getting jeans and clothes all dirty and constantly washing them.
Suddenly I feel simple since I just wear jeans, tshirts and my steel toes all year round lol....
Nah truthfully when it comes down to it, I really prefer just a good, brandless, tool-less, styled hoodie with a sleeveless shirt, beltless slip-on jeans/shorts, and a pair of good sneakers. Especially when work like landscaping/gardening is always on duty. Can't be wearing expensive clothing and tight jeans in that kind of work, break your back. But when you live in a place like Seattle/Downtown Bellevue of WA State, it's a different story. Bit like Downtown LA, truthfully. "You're in, or you're out.", that's the way it works up here sadly. Reality sucks and is hard, but the people who spend money on clothing over in Downtown Bellevue is -ridiculous. Seriously. There are folks down there who spend 1,500 dollars on pairs of shoes and boots. Even if I had a million dollars, not a dime of it would be going toward shit like that; seriously.
But I like and love tight jeans, button ups, boots, stuff like that. They look good, and they -feel- good.

Yeah, fedoras on guys from the whole 30-50s who are wearing suits and stuff look nice, but on hipsters or (as I've actually seen a lot) neckbeard-clad basement dwellers wearing jeans and a T-shirt they look stupid.

:buddy:
I have always used Dean as sort of a 'model' for my ideal of the archetypal 'man', I'm happy to see I've achieved it in part. thanks buddy.
I'm sorry, but you missed the point of the thread.
If I'm correct, your avatar is a picture of a soldier/guy doing a kick-flip or whatever they call it, and skaters usually wear the stuff your complaining about. A LOT of people wear the clothes your complaining about. It's modern clothing.
I'm sorry, but you must not be getting any if your complaining about stylish clothing.
And what the fuck is with the resurgence of obnoxious thick-plastic-rimmed-goddamn-bug-eye-shape sunglasses now?

I love it when chicks wear big sunglasses.
I hate people who aren't pilots or police officers wearing aviators more than that.
