dunno, doesn't really draw your eyes to the important part of the picture, it keeps drawing me into the bushes at the centre
or maybe I don't know anything idk
My cousin is in the showbuisiness and she desperately needed a picture for some gig and went to some obscure ~~*360remflashlookatmygear*~~ photographer instead of asking me and paid 32 bucks for ONE picture and everything that could go wrong went wrong they went for that stupid "pressed against a wall" pose holy fuck I am so angry right now.
fuck you killuah u suk

browse the deviant art appreciation station thread long enough and you'll learn to appreciate mankind's ability to be that for real
I wonder what the worst of joe looks like
Would a "That Guy" be someone who thinks any photo without a vignette is complete trash?
Or is that just hipster
Would a "That Guy" be someone who thinks any photo without a vignette is complete trash?

a hipster would be the opposite, thinking a vignette automatically makes everything art
along with other things
people can definitely be snobby or douche nozzles simply for the fact there's something like a vignette, and to be honest vignette is something that can easily be done badly in a lot of instances, so if someone critiques the fact a vignette is ruining the picture it probably isn't just because they're anti-vignette
Lightroom has the shittiest vignette generator
The lens correction one in photoshop is so much better.

I think you may have misread, I have a class with someone who when editing his own photos, no matter what, always puts a vignette on them, and always thinks they look amazing
Regardless of appropriate use, he slaps one on every single photo he takes. I'll admit some of his shots look quite nice with it, but putting one on a picture from a party with an unflattering picture of himself and a friend, not so much :v:
oh you said 'without', yeah I read it wrong.
I've seen a number of galleries where there's a harsh dark vignette on everything, it's almost claustrophobic at times. It can definitely help a photo, but it should be applied with purpose and utility

sometimes even my sarcastic art detector breaks
To Sgt Pepper and Dai, you are both confusing 'hipsters' and snobs whatever you are talking about with idiots.

I think this is a more valid piece than the majority of shots posted in this forum.
I like it as a picture, but is it actually his photography? I thought it was a google maps picture
In the case it's a real picture made to look like google maps he did a stellar job and I take back my funny
It looks like he took a photo of Google maps on his screen

Canon 5D mkII, 50mm,

yeah that's a picture of a screen with really pinched light
the entire gallery it's in is called 'interface' and appears to be screenshots like that, though it seems he's putting in some thought to composition and the shapes. Then there's a whole genre in his galleries labeled streetview, which are more of the same. Some interesting stuff here and there but a good deal of it feels like a kid just randomly screencapping funny things they came across
looking at his other galleries I'm actually really impressed with a bunch of his architectural stuff [transparent city], though some of it comes off feeling uninspired when viewing on the computer. A large-scale print with more visible detail on those shots may be really cool though, he's using a 45mp digital back for that set so there's a lot of things you can't see unless you're super close to the shot
some of the other galleries are the kinds of things you'd see by themselves at an exhibition, they don't really seem to my interests beyond "that would be interesting to see them all at an exhibition", just sitting in a stack of internet galleries
still that one image was one of those things that just kind of hit me like a brick wall when it floated past me. "Is it art? deviantart? tumblr being tumblr??"
Sweet mother of god, no.

Where is the photo related anything?
What's MS Paint doing in the creation workflow?
Who made the space between "perfect" and "photography" so much larger than all the other gaps?
When will this end?
Where is the photo related anything?
I actually think it seems shallow to use photography related imagery in personal branding. I think it's important to convey more about oneself than just the tool you use. You generally don't see clothing companies with little sewing machine logos.
So tired of aperture blade logos.
So tired of aperture blade logos.
uh oh I'm telling jaanus
his is pretty creative though. I've seen a handful of interesting aperture logos, but I'm getting super tired of seeing aperture science leaking into stuff. I mean, there's only so much you can do with an aperture, but

first thing he uploaded taken with his new lens at 11mm.
Fun thing though, apparently his cousin is a self-proclaimed pro shooter and was blaming a whole bunch of things on his 7D's functions, from how bright the LCD was/wasn't to how using the histogram function is "for fruitcakes". Hrm.
edit- turns out his cousin is a professional wedding photographer, and he's got good portfolio. Uses a Nikon D3(something) with a 24-70 f/2.8
Saddens me he'd act the way he does about such menial setting quirks on someone else's camera
edit2- I asked how that tokina is treating him and he responded "as for my Tokina... I wanna get a 5D .. and see how it looks just to confirm the other findings."
wargarble
SO in the spirit of christmas, how many of you have observed a sudden influx of your facebook photographer population? Already saw a thatgirl in the offtopic thread who thought "550D" was in regards to her bra size
one year later, I now have the same wide angle lens SC bought, and my sister's first pictures with it were up close cross-eyed pictures
yay family
any signs of new cameras and new businesses after the holiday hit this year?
So many 15 year old girls got bridge cameras in my area over christmas, my facebook is like a terrible gallery of awful photographs
encourage and give examples to inspire
but if anybody is saying 'photography is their passion' already all bets are off
im not going to dash anyones spirits, if they ask me for advice i will gladly give them my own knowledge etc but its just at that stage where everything and anything is a good subject.. lets face it, a photo of your blackberry phone charger is not interesting..
