I don't know much about photography, but I went to a music festival last weekend, and there were loads of incompetent photographers, they would be infront of the railings, fiddle with settings for about 10 minutes, take one shot, and do the same again. Plus there were girls with pretty decent DSLRs just holding the damn thing up and snapping random pics.
kill em all
I was really disappointed I have to wait until September/October to get my D3100, there were so many great photo opportunities. Watching these idiots was infuriating.
I'm a bit like that at times. I often challenge myself to get the best exposure out of camera possible, so I'll constantly look through photos from that position and experiment with settings.
isn't fiddling with controls a sign of trying to learn the controls? I would think that using manual modes no matter how long it takes, is a sign of /attempted/ growth.
Experimenting is fine, what these people are doing is just not trying. Or in the case of that site that dai linked, they are making every shot the exact same, and not experimenting at all.

He stamps the same exact eyes onto faces, redoes all of the skin to be smooth and even (looking like felt) and it appears he assembles mouths tooth by tooth almost. It's freaky.

This thread's derailed hardcore. We should make a new thread called "Photography Snobs" so we can get our fill.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gaboer/5955571128/in/photostream when you see it
I spent like 5 minutes looking at the reflection in your eyes to see what was going on. :downs:
dai these are the other shots of the girl in that other picture [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/bkiCT.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZMXro.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Z3HQJ.png[/thumb] all of his shots have really bad problems with highlights and the lighting in general with a watermark like that you can tell he thinks hes a hotshot
I found the site I thought this was ripped from if anybody's interested http://www.tonioverby.com/Photos.php
I actually got fucking scared.
Predictably, models fall victim to being 'that guy' as well. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZnRde.jpg[/t]
Deleted picture on flicker, somehow reached the MOST views on my account. http://i.imgur.com/ZdtDa.jpg
Predictably, models fall victim to being 'that guy' as well. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZnRde.jpg[/t]
that chick there's five girls in my immediate vicinity according to modelmayhem. Four are fat and the other one doesn't speak english, and they all have portfolio and demand no 'trade for CD' deals, which is compensating a photoshoot with the resulting pictures. Y'know, freebies.
This shit actually hurts me inside to be a photographer. https://www.facebook.com/JDC.Photography.Australia?sk=wall
Fuck I know that guy >.>
Tell him he sucks.
surprising lack of "That Hipster Guy" : Has a Canon 500N he got for £10. But when he needs to take some photos, he uses a shitty lomo-holga thing he got for £15. Says he doesnt want to "risk breaking his canon" and he doesnt even have and serious expensive lens on it, only a cheapo one he got for free with the camera. Also, all photos he takes he scans them in, adds more noise and desaturates them. For no reason at all.
I'd think a 'that hipster guy' would have the Holga Diana+ from the camera store that cost $89.95, despite the fact that the whole appeal of the camera in the first place was that it was cheap, unused and felt just as cheap inn the hands because it was all plastic?
I'm not that guy because I'm terribly shamed of my pictures, I never post anything on facebook. But yeah, I have ''That chick'' who thinks shes great, using flash indoors and such.
Nothing wrong with using flash indoors when done properly...
Nothing wrong with using flash indoors when done properly...
Yeah but it's not done properly.
Yeah but it's not done properly.
wouldn't it have made sense to include that in your original post then...
Everything is wrong when it's not done properly? There is nothing inherently bad about using flash indoors.
I think "pop-up flash with virtually no ambient light" might have been what he was trying to say.
Theres this guy on twitter who I went to college with(he later got kicked out because he wasn't actually registered into that college :v:) He recently bought a load of gear and he keeps posting pictures on twitter of flowers not being in focus and shit. I mean sure, everyone has to start out somewhere. But he constantly boasts about his pictures and keeps talking about the new toys he will be buying for his camera. Also he's ugly yeah
Also he's ugly yeah
at least he's behind the camera? speaking of boasting about new toys, SC from the OP rant is yet again 'contemplating' an 'impromptu' photoshoot to give him a reason to need a sigma or tamron zoom lens for outdoor portraits. :L
