I've been lurking in this thread for a while now as a guest. And now I'm finally going to post in it. I completely agree with ShivanCommander. And I too support the Libertarian Party.
wow, you're either a terribly clever alt (sarcasm) or someone with terrible reasoning skills. other libertarians in this thread would be much better to align yourself with.
Right, but he's saying it's a good analogy for Anarcho-syndicalist communes, which isn't true considering if they did start up, it wouldn't be in some deserted, cut-off island, and it wouldn't be inhabited by all children.
How it started doesn't matter. What matters is how it'll proceed and end up.
Those who trade freedom for "free" healthcare shall receive neither.

Um
Freedom? I would like the freedom to live and stay healthy. I mean aren't we all entitled to life?
You aren't entitled to free services.
You aren't entitled to free services.
no, but if life is a right, then the numerous conditions that many people go through that have very little to no power over their own situations, should have some sort of remedied solution. Taxation doesn't destroy freedom, we simply look at history and can see proof of that, then services offered that run efficiently can only be seen as a benefit and a boon to the society.
You aren't entitled to free services.
Life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. These are rights which society has agreed are unalienable. That is to say, in order to be part of society, you must respect them.
I'd say healthcare is a big part of two of those.
How did no one catch the reference in my earlier post about anarcho-syndicalist communes? You bunch of ignorant fools.
Sorry for the digging, I thought this up while in bed without having eaten anything so my brain was probably not working well, but:
In this libertarian world, if there were a monopoly on some product and they started discriminating against employees or customers or making lower quality products, you say that the consumer would eventually overturn this monopoly.
Well, wouldn't the monopolizer have the power to actually suppress the information against their company, with fake studies or doing everything in its power to kill the message?
And maybe create some paramilitary organization or employ, I dunno, mercenaries who can actively fight against this message being spread?
I'm probably getting something wrong.

I think you might be getting this confused with anarchy, if there's a "paramilitary force" either committing fraud or using illegal force against citizens, that's really one of the primary roles of the government (stopping them from committing those crimes).

Even if you ignore the fact that it's all children, it's still a deserted island with no outside contact. Any Anarcho-Syndicalist commune in real life wouldn't have those disadvantages.
