Libertarianism is good.
I strongly disagree
Welcome to Libertarian America Simulator v1 You are a black man, and your car has just broken down outside of Generitown, Southernstate. You have a gas can with you and the town is just a five minute walk, so you tell your kids to wait in the car. You get to the gas station and the man behind the counter reaches for the pistol on his hip. "We don't like your kind, now get out of my store", he says. Not wanting to get shot, you leave. You figure you better find some accomodation for yourself and your family, as the sun is going down. You go up to the hotel and ask for a room. "Sorry sir, we're all out of rooms. Hotel across the street is too, unfortunately." On your way out, you hear the clerk rent a room to a white man. Enraged, you demand to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor comes out and tells you that he didn't do anything illegal and tells you to get off his property. You phone up the ACLU a week later but they tell you that there's nothing they can do to help. Enjoy your new America Libertaritards
let's hear v2
let's hear v2
go play red dead redemption or something
I'm a member of the communist party, just cause I think it's funny.
It's failed everywhere it was tried. It makes everyone pay higher taxes. It lowers the quality of healthcare. It makes longer waiting lines. It eliminates people's ability to choose their own healthcare plans and their own doctors. It means lesser healthcare for the elderly. It makes things even easier on people who don't work and skim off government. There is absolutely no desire for anyone to be a doctor. Oh and don't forget that ever since England adopted universal healthcare, patient deaths due to doctor negligence have risen nearly 80% more than they were before. This is America, if you need a surgery, you get a job and you work for a living like a normal person, don't skim off government programs that let you sit on your ass for 5 years, or wait, even more years now, since they extended unemployment. For every one person who is legitimately bad off and incapable of rational thought and/or working, there are a thousand people who abuse the system for their own personal gain and take money off of social security. Plus it's not like people don't all get healthcare when they need it, liberal propaganda has people believing that if you go into an emergency room you won't get treated simply because you're not "super rich" which is a complete and utter lie. They are required to treat you, it doesn't matter how much money you have. Why should the government decide what healthcare I get? Why should the government decide who my doctor is? It shouldn't, but that's what people want. People are getting lazy and stupid, they want the government to do everything for them, since they're too lazy to actually get off their ass and do something like they're supposed to. If anyone remembers during the 2008 election, reporters were asking random people off the street why they were voting for who they were voting for, and the number one answer for people who voted for Obama (a Democrat), was that he would "take care of them" and "pay off their debt for them" because they were too fucking stupid to pay off their own debt, in fact, they were stupid enough to get in debt to begin with by purchasing things they don't need on credit.
You know, quite often healthcare plans are made so that if you can't afford it then the government pays for it, yet you have the ability to pay for private healthcare if you want or you can afford it. Everybody is free to choose their healthcare plan and England's healthcare system is fucked anyway, just look at other European countries. Stop calling people lazy, its bullshit.
Eh, OP. I myself identify as a Libertarian (but more than once I have shifted about the political spectrum). I used to be very ideological but I really learned over time that sometimes your ideology doesn't override hard facts. Nonetheless, I still feel publicly funded healthcare should be made minimal and treated just as, if not more strictly than welfare payments. If we want to give the poor a chance to be productive, we need to give them the means. However, this doesn't solve our healthcare situation. There are still so many bureaucratic and legal measures in place that hamper the efficiency of both public AND private healthcare. I still don't view public healthcare as something DIRE AND IMMEDIATELY NEEDED like some people like to say. It could be an economic convenience if it doesn't cost too much. In summary, you have to think both vertically and horizontally to get a clear picture.
Derubermensch, elaborate what you mean by "healthcare needs to be treated strictly". A person either needs treatment or they don't, if someone needs treatment they should be able to get it.

And that black man will just pay for a room at another hotel. Congrats racist hotel, your competitors made profit you could've made.
no one ever said the racist hotel was a successful business
no one ever said the racist hotel was a successful business
Then the racist hotel will fail, and probably wouldn't exist in the first place. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Capitalism is a lot like Monday Night Combat. You have to attract/kill customers/enemy bots while stopping competing businesses/the enemy team from attracting/killing your customers/bots so you can get profit/the moneyball.
lol that was irreverent even for you zeke
Only way I can see it being irrelevant is if doing that is already legal in the US Is it Please tell me it isn't or I'll lose even more hope for said country
Libertarianism is good. The Libertarian party is fucking retarded.
This. The Libertarian party, REPUBLICANS IN DISGUISE.
irreverent
gah quit using words that look like other words [editline]5th April 2011[/editline]
What the hell makes you think that Libertarians want to undo civil rights?
Civil rights won't be enforced without the government requiring them to be. While there are many libertarians would would happily defend the rights of the minorities, when it came down to it the tyranny of the majority will always win unless it's kept in check, something that won't happen in a "keep the government out of my business" society
OP, supports guns, disregards healthcare. Come on, you gotta see how those two can't go together.
The who? [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Page king!
don't forget that ever since England adopted universal healthcare, patient deaths due to doctor negligence have risen nearly 80% more than they were before.
complete absolute lies. not even plausible considering england adopted the NHS in 1948. are you suggesting that somehow patients die more today than they used to?
I don't know who the Liberation Party is.
complete absolute lies. not even plausible considering england adopted the NHS in 1948. are you suggesting that somehow patients die more today than they used to?
He forgot to mention that the overall deaths have fallen with a gazillion percent. The reason patient deaths due to doctor negligence have risen is because more people are getting treated.
That had better be a joke.
Could also be a troll.
Could also be a troll.
Or a complete retard... I'm not doubtful of the latter.
A lot of people say that I'm throwing my vote away, but I don't feel that way. I'd rather vote for a third party that represents me and my beliefs than for politicians who don't. After reading their party platform and looking into their party and it's views, I have to say that I agree with most, if not all of their ideas. They combine all of the good things about conservativism (guns never getting banned, not socialist healthcare, weaker federal government, requiring the government to obey the Constitution, more economic freedoms, etc.) and the best of liberalism (gay rights, no censorship, no school uniforms, locally run school boards, more personal freedoms, etc.) and none of the bad of either group. Well, that's just my $0.02, if you want read up on them yourself: http://www.lp.org/platform
They see him trollin,' They hatin,' :v:
Letting the Internet know about your political view... Where have I seen this before?
