I do want to own i private island some day, but that's for Setting up a resort, not providing a home to a bunch of people i only know through an online forum.
I think this is the only time Optimistic has been used for it's original purpose.

I never said it would work, but stranger things have happened. I'm an optimistic person, it could work, it has happened before. Now that you mention it, it seems more impossible, but the people who colonized places in the 17th & 18th century did it, but with less technology.

Think about this. A bunch of computer nerds (geeks, whatever) swarm to an island, thinking life is grand. There will be no internet, phone, or cell service unless we pay a hefty sum to a communications company to lay wire in the ocean. Not to mention we would have to figure out what to do about food, clean water, electricity and shelter.
Also, we would be the biggest target for pirates - Island full of teens = free children for trafficking!

They do have Coconuts on the island, and it isn't hard to just bring some chickens over and a few seeds. The Island has several fresh water wells. Solar, wind and biogas, especially biogas as it is easy to set up. For the first few nights just bring a couple of tents, later we could simply build things out of the plentiful lumber there, ever heard of a tree house, they could be great temporary accommodation while we build actual houses. Also, Philippines has bad weapon law's (as far as i know), just buy a few guns and ammo and don't venture out alone or in an easy to see place, just lie low.
EDIT: Wow, i just realized the gun part was pretty naive.
