"Tips"?
It's either "thanks for the tips" or "*tips fedora*". Can't tell.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Ukej7iM.png[/t] Happy 2015, duders.
Man, fuck them. Dan Ryckert and GB have been an enormous source of joy for me this past year. Seriously, whenever I'm down, I boot up a video with Dan and go 'fuck yeah video games'. He just has this kind of overwhelming joy about the medium that is sorely lacking these days.
People will get offended by anything these days. Getting worked up over somebody saying that games should be fun. Are they serious?

[t]http://puu.sh/dYPGB/869f7a4065.jpg[/t] im super not surprised he went to kotaku
Lets be honest its where he belongs. How will Giant Bomb survive without his spelunky videos?
Leaving something like Giant Bomb to go to fucking Kotaku would be like leaving Valve to go to Activision or something.
[t]http://puu.sh/dYPGB/869f7a4065.jpg[/t] im super not surprised he went to kotaku
Giant Bomb suddenly quadruples in quality.
Really? Kotaku?
surprise, he's at kotaku because he has connections with the boss.
Eh, good for him.
surprise, he's at kotaku because he has connections with the boss.
That, or kotaku knows just how shit they are and will take everything they can get. Doesn't really matter though, i'm just glad he's gone.
That, or kotaku knows just how shit they are and will take everything they can get. Doesn't really matter though, i'm just glad he's gone.
no patrick definitely knows stephen totilo, iirc they worked a stint together in the past.
no patrick definitely knows stephen totilo, iirc they worked a stint together in the past.
That is highly probable, but as i said, as long as klepek is contained over at kotaku and can't shit up anything else we have no reason to complain.
This is hilarious. Bon voyage Patrick, off you go to the land where you belong.
I hope Metal Gear is next week
I was shocked when I visited Giant Bomb this year to find a Quinn article front page. What the fuck has happened to giant bomb since I last visited last year around this time.
I was shocked when I visited Giant Bomb this year to find a Quinn article front page. What the fuck has happened to giant bomb since I last visited last year around this time.
Quinn did a GOTY article last year as well. And she was on a GDC livestream or something.
patrick for some reason has a hard-on for zoe quinn, he's tried to include her in a lot of stuff as well as dedicating an entire podcast to her and her dumb self-done chip in her hand.
Leaving something like Giant Bomb to go to fucking Kotaku would be like leaving Valve to go to Activision or something.
Not the best analogy ever since Valve is apparently kind of a shit show right now See: http://richg42.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/open-office-spaces-and-cabal-rooms-suck.html http://richg42.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/state-of-linux-gaming.html https://twitter.com/richgel999 [editline]3rd January 2015[/editline] Also listening to Brad try and defend Destiny for over an hour in the last GOTY podcast was utterly cringe inducing. Awful reasoning for a game that even he admits is objectively pretty bad, and the only reason why its his #2 is because he's psychologically addicted to it like someone gets psychologically addicted to gambling or MMO's. As such, refuses to accept that his investment in that game largely stems from that addiction, and that addiction blindsiding all the glaring faults it has. He's so delusional with it I almost got the sense he'd throw a tantrum and run out of the room if everyone didn't let him put it on the top 10.

I just thought it was ridiculous he was trying to defend a game that has objective fault, and objectively failed at its design, just because it did one thing really good (gunplay) and one thing that worked only for him (addiction) when the rest of the games on that list were objectively great games all around (but maybe not of his taste). Then has the gall to say "well I would take like 4 games off this list right now without hesitation, everyone else got the game they wanted on there!" completely blind to the fact that all the games on the list were at least objectively good all around. I just think its stupid they'd axe something like Dark Souls 2 (a great game all around that suffers only from not hitting the highs of Dark Souls 1) so quick and yet spend and hour on Destiny, which is an extremely flawed game in some critical ways.
I don't really see why Destiny's gunplay is even considered, its good but that's because its basically copy pasted from Halo, only now it's an mmo so headshots don't mean shit because its all level based.
what? where?

While at Giant Bomb, I grew up. I discovered a fiery empathy for individuals--women, people of color, LGBT, etc.--who experienced life differently. It sounds simple in retrospect, but it was a revelatory. I wanted to have their voices represented. Expressing how I felt, how the industry often undermines all but the status quo, wasn't always smooth. At times, I was too aggressive, phrased my arguments poorly, and did more harm than good. Growing pains happen, though. I'm proud of the conversations we had.
I understand he had good intentions and all that, but most of the time it was so badly argued and then the hugbox all agreed with him.
