Should guns in houses with kids be illegal?
It's fun to watch what hypocrites you guys are.
Not really a good analogy, guns are okay if they're hidden. Shooting a gun in the house is not.
When it comes to scientifically proven (not associative shit) things concerning the physical and mental wellbeing of children, I approve of intrusive governments. Smoking indoors in households with children should not be allowed. Outdoors though(even if still on the same property), yeah sure.
Yes. Unless you want to fuck your kids up for life, then go ahead.
hahaha

You can lock a gun in a safe, numb nuts. But have you ever tried to vent out cigarette smoke from a house?
Since you can't think of this shit on your own, and then claim superiority, I think it's safe to assume you're in puberty, probably 12. You probably also think smoking is super cool, which further enforces my point.
Smoking laws are already strict enough, not being able to smoke in your own home is just retarded. Besides, how would it even be enforced?
It's not just morally wrong to kill your fucking kid with second-hand smoke, it's goddamn selfish.
I NEED TO INGEST HAZARDOUS SHIT INTO MY BODY 24/7 FUCK THE CONSEQUENCES AND THE VICTIMS
Some people are actually addicted to smoking, little can they do know.
The best way to smoke at home, is to not smoke in the same room as the child. But I thought that was obvious.
Facepunch is absolutely fucking hilarious.
The whole liberal population of this damn place is hilariously hypocritical. Listen, people, you really need to stick behind your ideology; if you're for social freedom, you're for fucking social freedom. Stopping people from smoking in their own goddamn homes is completely idiotic; I grew up with a father who smoked 2 packs a day and I've had no lung problems whatsoever, nor have I heard of any child that has that wasn't already influenced by a weak as shit immune system and body structure.
I'm not even really talking health wise, the idiocy in this is astounding; I'm only talking to liberals here because there's so fucking many: you can't just pick and choose what you want to do for social freedom. You can't pick one thing but BAN everything else. This whole anti-smoking craze is insane: I understand completely banning it in public areas and buildings, but from people's own homes? Are you stupid?
this is coming from an individual who thinks that smoking is possibly one of the most disgusting habits on the face of the planet, right behind heroin and eating your own feces (I don't know if it's a habit, but I'd rather see someone smoke than eat shit)
Yes, if the child of a young age, as the damage caused by second hand smoke on young children is backed up by many a study.
You know forks mixed with electrical sockets have proven to be almost entirely fatal. Maybe we should ban cutlery and electricity too.
You know forks mixed with electrical sockets have proven to be almost entirely fatal. Maybe we should ban cutlery and electricity too.
Yet another retarded argument. You can teach a child not to stick a fork in a socket, you can't teach a child not to breath.
You also need to remember that cutlery and electricity benefit society, smoking has no benefit what so ever.
I really didn't think that it mattered that much if you smoke in your house, and I didn't think you guys would be against it

second hand smoke won't kill a child, maybe if the kids constantly, purposely breathing in heavily right next to a lit cigarette
Yet another retarded argument. You can teach a child not to stick a fork in a socket, you can't teach a child not to breath.
Actually you can teach a child not to smoke.
Both of my parents smoked for most of my life, and I don't have any health issues related to secondhand smoke, nor do I ever intend to take up the habit.
In fact, my dad still smokes to this day.
You also need to remember that cutlery and electricity benefit society, smoking has no benefit what so ever.
Actually it sort of does. Not only does the business give people jobs and, sort of, you know, helped the country grow a (more) stable economical backbone when it was starting, but it also helps people deal with stress.

You might not have any problems, however I know children have developed problems from it.
As for the business part, the amount of money spent on treating people who developed cancer pretty much out weighs that.
Man, you guys are such pussies. I grew up in a home where my Nana and my Mother would smoke ALL THE TIME. However, they loved me, treated me well, gave me clothing, washed me, etc. I grew up healthy and just fine. Yes, I did find it disgusting and yes, I did hate it, but it wasn't abuse. I don't smoke and I never will smoke. If you're going to make it illegal for parents to have a little chillax time and smoke a cigarette in their own home around their own children then why not just make smoking illegal in the first place? You guys act like second hand smoke is the deadliest thing in the world for a young child to be exposed too.
Smoking in home with young children: Fine.
Blowing the smoke in a young child's face: Not Fine.
The effects of smoke, whether it be second hand or not, have a stronger influence on younger developing children.
It also depends on the amount of smoking being done in the house. If the parent are chain smokers then maybe they should think of smoking elsewhere, but if it's a cig or two, it's not as harmful.
As for the business part, the amount of money spent on treating people who developed cancer pretty much out weighs that.
Have you actually done research on how much money is spent on lung cancer patients, who's cancer has been proven to be caused by smoking cigarettes, and how much money is gained by the tobacco industry?
Edit:
Better yet, second hand smoke.

Someone in another post gave us links to studies relating to second hand smoke. It harms people whether you like it or not and I value people lives over some ones shitty habit.
boo hoo cigarettes whine whine.
Someone in another post gave us links to studies relating to second hand smoke. It harms people whether you like it or not and I value people lives over some ones shitty habit.
Sorry I think you misinterpreted my post because I wasn't asking for an appeal to morality
Well it's a private household. Morally wrong? Yes. Can it be enforced? No.
Precisely this.
Sorry I think you misinterpreted my post because I wasn't asking for an appeal to morality
So you're saying we should harm children for the sake of money making? Thank god you won't ever come to power.
Someone in another post gave us links to studies relating to second hand smoke. It harms people whether you like it or not and I value people lives over some ones shitty habit.
Okay but what if I link you to studies saying it has no effects.
what then mister smarty pants!?
I can't find a single reported instance of second-hand smoke killing someone who wasn't an employee in a bar or something like that.
If a mother and father smoke until their kid is out of the house and the kid is in the house most of the time then it's pretty clear they'd be ingesting a lot of shit.
Okay but what if I link you to studies saying it has no effects.

Smoking != breathing in ETS.

Excuse me sir but I believe you are misrepresenting my argument in an attempt to make me look bad
Again this is not what I was asking for
Please read my post more carefully next time so that this accident does not happen again
Thank you
Smoking should be banned period, but weed allowed.

Facepunch isn't liberal. Things I see mentioned commonly:
Death Penalty is good
If you aren't a criminal you have nothing to hide
Wikileaks should be banned and the creator hanged for treason
Smoking should be banned
Drugs should be banned
Throw some religion in here and Facepunch is the fucking Tea Party
Go on then.
okay you read this please
[editline]12:02AM[/editline]
my point is
everyone shut the hell up you're being retarded stop arguing over something totally ridiculous anyways
Smoking should be banned period, but weed allowed.
so people should be able to possess weed but not be able to smoke it
I don't smoke, but personally, if people want to do it in their own homes, then that's fair enough. In fact, most people I know nowadays who do smoke, do so OUTSIDE, rather than INSIDE. And these people don't have kids. I'm all for not smoking around children, but banning people from smoking in their own private house? Ain't happening.
so people should be able to possess weed but not be able to smoke it
They could still put it into brownies and watch Scooby Doo.
