Smoking indoors when people are around is just bad etiquette and disrespectful.

If you mean going outside the house to smoke when there are kids in the house there doesn't really need to be a law for it, no decent person wants their house smelling like shit all the time so they walk out and smoke anyway.

I think the owner of the house should be allowed to smoke in their no matter what. There is no need for some delusional paranoia to take away that person's right.
My aunt smokes, she always steps outside and finishes the entire thing before coming back in. Smoking inside and around kids is in poor taste, but most smokers are courteous enough to step outside.

Sure smoking is bad for you but so are loads of things. Should we ban them all too?

I wish it could be, I really wish it could be illegal for parents to subject their children to that shit. However, once the mechanism is in place to identify, record, and punish people for the things they do in their own homes, it could be applied to anything. So, you couldn't make smoking in your house with children illegal without also making it easy to outlaw anything from sex with people other than your spouse to eating too much junk food. "It's unhealthy for the children" is a wide ranging excuse.
