You poor man.
Watch Dogs was a good game. The changes from the pre-release footage were fucking bullshit but Watch Dogs was still a good game. A little buggy and with some pretty hilariously dumb oversights (no police boats rly), but the game was still pretty good. There wasn't really anything wrong at all with the core game.

It didn't offer that much other then when a mission forces you to use it. The story was okay, not spectacular. Car controls felt waaaay to sharp and the world in the end felt pretty bland and empty, far from what the trailer gave away No joke, GTA V with the watch_dogs mod is more fun then the actual game
Not this time, Ubisoft. Your half-rotten carrot on a stick certainly won't work on me anymore.
I'm going to have to watch a re-cap of the story once if the new game turns out to be good I honestly can't remember shit about the ending of the first game
I don't believe it. You just can't make a game in 1 year.
What makes you think that this was made in 1 year?
What makes you think that this was made in 1 year?
The game came out last year and I honestly thought it was 1 team project inside Ubisoft. If this was in development in parallel with first WD then there unlikely be any major improvements. Basically another AC series.

This may very well be a AC series trick like you said, guess we shall see when they fully reveal it.

Unless you're just going in guns blazing because then yeah you're right, hacking doesn't help that much with that. A little sometimes but not much. When it comes to sneaking missions though, hacking is a huge help providing distractions and stuff. Especially in the DLC which has a lot of side missions where you can't kill anyone, or optional objectives not to use your guns with greater rewards if you don't. Still, yeah hacking certainly isn't the whole game. I think most of the rest of it was pretty decent as well. Mind you it wasn't spectacular but it was pretty good, it was fun. I even beat it and the DLC as well.
I completely disagree. Unless you're just going in guns blazing because then yeah you're right, hacking doesn't help that much with that. A little sometimes but not much. Honestly this game would perhaps work better if it wasn't open world because you can clearly see they lack innovation on the open world part to which it makes it a annoying mission hub

Honestly this game would perhaps work better if it wasn't open world because you can clearly see they lack innovation on the open world part to which it makes it a annoying mission hub
Oh yeah definitely, I agree that there's not much to the open world. You can't really do much of anything except steal random people's money for shiggles. Can't even kill random pedestrians since it penalizes your reputation. Although the open world brings some advantages to the missions, like being able to go into [sp]some[/sp] areas multiples ways. And driving missions. Although driving isn't exactly the games strong point. I can't really put my finger on what it is but something about the steering is really weird. And for some reason the steering is completely different in focus mode. More precise. And that's not just the slow motion. Almost feels like cheating tbh. Although the driving is another aspect of the game where the hacking aspect actually does come into play a lot. It's just in the straight up shooting scenarios that hacking seems pointless, like they just couldn't figure out any way to make it useful besides an occasional guard having a grenade you can blow up.
The multiplayer invasion thing was kind of cool. Unfortunately it was a bit flawed since if you pressed ESC to open the menu the game wouldn't pause properly if someone was invading you, which I shamelessly used to my advantage to ambush unsuspecting invaders.

Online Invasions in general is a really cool concept, shame the Souls series and Watch Dogs are pretty much the only games that do something like that. And MindJack.
Nice teaser: - Guy uses his phone without looking at the screen - Even my grandma would do an animation like that - His thumb is weird EDIT: coming from Ubisoft, I wouldn't expect much, and I wouldn't be surprised if the game had GTA SA like graphics.
Good god that animation This is possibly the worst teaser trailer for a AAA game I've ever seen
I don't believe it. You just can't make a game in 1 year.
They were probably already working on the sequel before the original game even released. I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm definitely not preordering this time. been burned too many times by ubisoft
Trailer got leaked on Twitch.
looks like they're trying to flesh out the world a bit more than the original. even if this is pre-rendered, i hope it's some sort of bar for what they want to accomplish with WD2....... oooooorrr they're just showing some pre-rendered shit that has no effect on what the actual game will look or play like and the world will be as dull as chicago lite™ in the original game. one big problem with WD is that it focused too much on aiden and centered around him when the whole dedsec thing, while being cringy as fuck could've been way cooler. like, every character around aiden was 10x more interesting and they didn't bother to do anything with them. i hope they learn from their lesson and basically let us play as a fun character. a youtube comment on that page actually brings up a good point (yikes I can't believe I said that,) that if this is anything like ubisoft's attempts at writing younger, more fun characters, then they'll probably just spout memes and be cringy. hopefully if they go that awful route they turn the bastard on his head and develop him into an actually appealing character throughout the game. there's a lot of ways they can save this game if they just try.
I know I'm being pedantic but I really liked Aidens costume a ton It really nailed the look of modern day superhero mixed with assassin's creed styling The new fella just looks too normal for lack of a better word

sure, that's san francisco.
Cool, another prerendered trailer.
based on what? there's nothing in the trailer that really stands out as something that isn't possible
based on what? there's nothing in the trailer that really stands out as something that isn't possible
No visible gameplay but yeah I wouldn't completely rule it out yet. Though given Ubisoft's marketing and the fidelity of their recent games, it's hard to believe it's real-time.
No visible gameplay but yeah I wouldn't completely rule it out yet. Though given Ubisoft's marketing and the fidelity of their recent games, it's hard to believe it's real-time.
well it's very obviously not meant to be a gameplay trailer, in-engine trailers do exist though, don't know why just because the original had a downgrade from an E3 build means this one is entirely pre-rendered
based on what? there's nothing in the trailer that really stands out as something that isn't possible
I write PBR shaders and lighting systems, have been for 4 or so years. Mainly for mobile (like, about UE4 quality mobile), but I've also written higher end realtime stuff like importance sampling (not currently feasible for games). The most telling is the fact that the video is either supersampled and using lighting modes beyond what's possible in realtime, or done using an offline renderer, due to its lack of any aliasing. Not just edge aliasing either. Specular aliasing is a huge problem with PBR shaders, something we're just starting to fix. You may have noticed it in a number of games (Dark Souls has a huge problem with this, having a telltale shimmer to anything reflecting bright light). I can also tell it's been shot for shot tonemapped (taking HDR to a final 24bit color). Or just color graded in LDR. Neither are good signs of this being in-engine. As for the lighting modes I mention, if you take a look at the short shot with the front on flash of the crowd you can see that the shadows are not totally sharp or blobby. 0 pixelation. They have a high quality penumbra to them, something that is not currently possible to render at that fidelity. The closest we have is the Uncharted/Last of Us approximation to soft shadowing which can't achieve that kind of detail. Or, distance fields could do it but they only work for static meshes (a total limitation of the technique, has to be precomputed). To render shadows like that you would have to use an extremely high quality, short range shadowmap with a retarded multi-tap blur kernel that would never work in regular gameplay unless you like your fps at a cool 1-2. I could go on, but it'd be nice to have a higher quality video so other people can notice these things easier. My eyes are just used to it.
