The game doesn't really look like much of a looker in that trailer, so at least they are being honest with the visuals...
So the trailer really was just pre-rendered stuff and the game, while more expressive and better lit for sure, isn't really a notable visual upgrade. In terms of gameplay it looks like "more of the same but better", so the protagonist parkours, gets the ability to hack everyone and anything electronic nearby more liberally, and has more non-lethal options as well as 3D-printed guns and expanded melee (that looks entirely like scripted takedowns than actual melee combat, but who knows).
Seems a lot like if you liked the first game you'll like this one, but if you didn't then it won't be a real changer.
Eh, it doesn't seem outwardly objectionable, but I would need to see a lot more.
They promise their world is more alive with plenty of things to do, but I vaguely recall the same promises with the first game, and I remember how that turned out. With how the game looks like it plays, it doesn't seem like something that would have a lot of interesting activities.

Two trailers they showed.
The whole livestream also had some ingame footage
I hope they don't downgrade the interactivity this time around. The promise of an interactive and 'alive' world was what sold Watch_Dogs for many people, and... yeah.
They're gonna have to upgrade their train AI behavior, or else trolley cars will stop dead in the street as soon as you step over the tracks
hmm
the ideas seem good but maybe it's just me but the punk rock anarchist hipster aesthetic could NOT be more of a turn off for me

God what is this fucking edgy hipster crap.
I haven't cringed this hard in weeks.
Eh, I dunno what to think about this. It seems almost too easy to declare the character stupid and laugh at how overly edgy and hip it's trying to be. On the other hand, playing as a character like that pretty much gives them freedom to do whatever. I always thought it a bit funky that in the original game a dude who was largely trying to stay low and not attract attention would cause a citywide blackout. At least with the whole hacktivism angle they can get away with some more extreme stuff.
I picked the first game up on the Steam sale and have got about 10 hours into it. I am enjoying it a lot, it's simple and fun and there's plenty to do - but I fear it'll run out of appeal once I've tried everything once. If the sequal is similar with a decent open world, more things to hack and do, better melee combat and better parkour (and maybe a way to modify and store cars, I want my hacker ricer car with computer screens everywhere) I'll probably pick it up at some point.
I don't think the story of the first game was particularly deep or interesting so they may as well take it up a notch and go for a Saints Row with hacking theme, which is the vibe I'm getting so far.
It'd also be chill if you could 3D print guns on demand with different modifications based on your needs. There's actually quite a lot they can go for, I'd like it if they expand the skill trees to have distinct paths (but also allow you to end up with all the skills if you do the extra missions etc) focused on different elements, such as one for gunfights, one for stealth/melee, one for hacking more objects and maybe some other general improvement tree (extra health, etc). Ultimately this game is probably not gonna have EVERYTHING we'd hope for, but if it has ENOUGH that it's fun for 20 hours or so I'd probably call that a good thing. It'd be cool if you could lower your notoriety by hacking into the police database, or maybe if the whole gaining twitter followers thing was encouraged. It seems like there's a cellphone feature which allows you to take selfies and such, be fun if you could upload those to a virtual twitter and the more exciting the photo the more followers you got (kinda like in Dead Rising). They could incorporate the reputation feature from the original game and change it so that you can end up with DedSec either being loved or feared by people. Leaking personal info and stealing from people would cause some fear, while getting back at the corrupt forces could get people back on your side. Simple things like being able to remove parking tickets by 'hacking' the cameras & leaving a little message saying you did it could perhaps lower the fear, while dumping a bunch of passwords would get you tons of followers but also make people begin to fear you. I think there's TONS of potential here to take advantage of the 'cringey' setting and make a genuinely fun game.
I'll shut up now because I'm just rambling about features I wanna see which is probably boring, but I don't think we should declare the game shite just yet - wait and see how much of it they downgrade!

So they're not even going to pretend that they're not ripping off Mr. Robot.
and this dialogue. "How do you do, fellow script kids?"
tbh, i think it looks pretty fun. Hopefully the gameplay lasts longer than it did in WD for me

The main character seems fine, honestly he feels out of place working and being friends with all these super edgy techno-punks.
It actually looks fun, I'm cautiously optimistic

I think dedsec's thing is anonymity but that dude decided he wanted to be cool and hip.
honestly I wish watchdogs 2's protagonist was like a polo shirt wearing IT guy with taped together glasses and khakis who is still sneaking around on roofs
