To sum it up;
Awful weather 8-9 months a year.
People are comparatively reserved until you get to know them. They're also rather arrogant.
Fairly high living costs which are balanced by equally high salaries.
People in general are fairly good-looking. (compared to the rest of Europe.)
Brown immigrants are overabundant.
I find this description rather accurate when it comes to most Scandinavian countries, ESPECIALLY Norway.
I'm a 5 minute walk away from Lake Ontario. Problem is the local college has most of the beach front so getting to the beach that way is a pain, and the rest is infested with white trash
I'd be happy with some hills maybe even a forest :C
A boat + a few hours walk through the mountains from my city and you get:

if you want real mountains you have to go to norrland, northern sweden.
I don't know what you guys think of America, but I really don't know if I can continue living here anymore. I hate the politics of this country more than anything, it's disgusting.
I can deal with paying extra if it means benefiting everyone. That doesn't bother me. How is the job "climate" over there? Not sure what I want to do (especially when it comes to college/university), thought about free-lancing graphic design while working some typical 9 to 5 job to keep myself afloat if I need to. Is that possible over there?
[editline]19th September 2011[/editline]
In America we have plenty of right wing bullshit, but it's not just not subtle racism. Even stricter immigration is more appetizing than the current political climate of the United States (imo)
You guys might think it's boring over there, but you have a lot of shit I can only WISH the United States had figured out by now.
they changed the fees last year, it will be expensive for you study unless you're a swedish citizen or from a country in EU. the instutitions sets their own fees but a calculated guess would be $15000 for one year. i don't know how hard it is to get a swedish citizenship tho.
finding a job might be hard unless you know swedish, there are a few websites that can help you, tho most of those job lists are for people with higher education. i can't tell how the job climate is, i've never had trouble finding a job (i even got a job offer while i already had a job). most youths complain that there are no jobs but i don't think that's the problem.
I live in Denmark, I'm moving to Sweden for cheap cars and internet man.
probably still going towork in Denmark though.
move here and vote for the left wing
the right wing is totally shit
Come here and ride Snowmobiles erryday.
Come here and ride Snowmobiles erryday.
if you live up north, yea
down south theres almost no snowmobiles at all
I'd say, go to Norway instead. We have nice, varied nature, free healthcare, and boast extreme sport events around the country. Come to Voss and maybe I'll teach you how to fly a paraglider! :v:
and you say we have neither?
I am told that it's like the UK, but everything is somehow better.
True?
This thread is about Sweden and not all the other shitty nordic countries
I am told that it's like the UK, but everything is a lot better by every aspect.
True?
No it's very different from what I've heard

Nepotism is rampant. If you want a job you'll more or less have to know someone on the inside to get it, I would say this is mostly true even regarding low skilled service jobs.
Unless of course you've got a Bachelors/Masters and preferably a couple of years experience, then you'll be pretty much set.
and you say we have neither?
When did I say that? I'd recommend my country over yours any day, equal or not. It's called love, mah boi.

The same could be said for your posts.
Well, in my experience Norway is like Sweden except everything costs twice as much in Norway.
Just go to Denmark, everything is cheaper here. Language is easier too, and it's warmer.
your language being easier?
....
[editline]19th September 2011[/editline]
norwegians understand you like a tiny bit and swedes dont know shit what you are all saying
a reciprocal relationship i can assure you
Whenever I'm in Denmark I just smile and nod, even though I have no clue what they are saying :v:
I have Swedish relatives (both great-grandparents on mother's side were Swedish, moved to Norway in early 1900s), so we travel to Sweden every year. To me Swedish is about as easy to understand as Norwegian.
except for norwegians and swedes being able to understand each other fine

That's not what i meant, i meant that danes understand norweigans a tiny bit, but swedish is like this incomprehensible mess
Sweden is pretty sweet. i'm an American who moved with my parents to Sweden when i was five. Sadly, i live in the asshole of Sweden, Degerfors.

Yep. Babylon, Empoli, Sams, and two others i forgot the names of. It's mad how many pizzerias we have. I mean, even Karlskoga has fucking Mcdonalds and Max. Couldn't we as well?
our town is fucking crazy with pizzerias
we have like 10 or something
[editline]20th September 2011[/editline]
with a town population of 18 000
