The biggest problem with every conspiracy theory of a scale this large is that you have to believe the governments of the world are capable of keeping a secret this big. That's keeping everyone involved quiet; military and government personnel, the people who would have surveyed the buildings for the ideal place to put explosives, the people who actually PUT the explosives, the people who organised the planes, the people who trained the pilots... Given how incompetent these governments have been over the last decade, I don't think it's possible to even organise something like this and keep it secret, let alone actually do it.
The one conspiracy theory I did actually legitimately consider for a long while was the Pearl Harbor conspiracy. The idea that the US could just let an attack happen is something that doesn't seem too far-fetched for me, and it's something that would allow for the US to feel motivated to join the war. I stopped after thinking about it for a while, because if it was more than a conspiracy theory, it would have substantial background in academics, but that's not the case. People give the government a bit too much credit. The ability to convince hijackers to commit suicide in itself makes little sense, and the ability to keep things under close wraps would be an incredible feat. Again, we've had whistleblowers over the years over security, and now we're literally talking about lives. On top of that, if 9/11 was motivated by a need to spring into war, the scale was completely unnecessary. They could have gone smaller-scale and used that as an excuse to move into war. Lastly, the idea that planes needed to be flown into the buildings with bombs placed inside makes no sense - why couldn't the bombs have been there just on its own? Why did planes ever need to be involved? Why couldn't the planes have been enough either? Personally, if the government did 9/11 and this could be verified as true, I would think that past the issues of morality, the people who created the plans are total dumbasses doing unnecessary shit.
They also think the sinking of the Lusitania was allowed so the US could join WW1.
The thing that bothers me the very most about crazy conspiracy theorists is that the US government does countless shady and horrible things every day, but these conspiracy theorists choose to not focus on that stuff.
Conspiracy theorists are a government conspiracy to distract from the real conspiracies
