Hey guys I don't really understand about whats going on but let me make several posts to explain why you're all dumb and wrong and clearly I'm the only one with any sense here.
it is a metaphor of the general action behind all this or anyone who gets social outrage over something as pointless as video games.
Isn't that literally all game journalists are doing. "what about that representation" "what about that racial diversity" "what about that oppressive nature" etc.
can anyone explain to me in like 2 sentences why exactly i should care about zoe quinn because ive heard so much shit but not a single thing i read made me think "wow this zoe quinn lady is really bad" like she cheated and smth smth game journalism but why would that make me outraged, like kotaku and other game journalism sites have proven time and time again before this thing that they're a joke
Because game journalists are desperately trying to silence criticism leveled against them, and censorship is bad. They would rather try to redefine "gamer" to mean a sexist, evil pig who wants to watch the world burn instead of a person who plays game, rather than admit that maybe something is wrong. Those are your two sentences.
Isn't that literally all game journalists are doing. "what about that representation" "what about that racial diversity" "what about that oppressive nature" etc.
Games can't really be that pointless if that's all they want to talk about and scandals like this surface when someone doesn't want to talk about it.
Honestly, just report him for flaming/trolling. He's blatantly shitposting, and that's the closest thing you have in the report menu.
when abusive, manipulative, and duplicitous people can avoid the consequences of their actions by hiding behind rights movements, someone should fucking say something. Leaving that shit alone poisons the community, the industry, and progress itself. And if you don't give a fuck about those things, fair game, but don't act like you have the fucking moral high ground just because you're a self absorbed spiteful asshole.
Honestly, just report him for flaming/trolling.
blog post without source
So basically this argument boils down to "let's remember free speech," (while mentioning sites by name that have been censoring users with plenty of proof to support this claim,) and wraps up by saying "games journalism is shitty, has always been shitty, so you guys should just sit down and accept the fact that it's shitty." All the while sprinkling the argument with epic jabs about how we are all fedora wearing neck beards without supporting any point with verifiable facts. And you want us to take you seriously?

But then I realize its just video game journalism. [editline]31st August 2014[/editline]
And you want us to take you seriously?
And you want everyone else outside of your bubble to take you seriously? Because you're doing a terrible job. The point of the article is why are you people so surprise and angry? Do you get outraged at the quality of Celebrity news? No. Why not?
Is this literally the banner-call of this mob? Lmao do you have any idea how dumb this looks from the outside. Even the language you use... hahah.
Okay. Prove me wrong. Show me exactly how journalists aren't trying to silence gamers. Debunk the tons and tons of photographic proof that shows how immature these professionals are acting. Convince me I'm wrong, do your homework, and maybe I'll believe you when you start talking.
They server their purposes. You can meet some decent people among the infantile teenboy masses. I sometimes enjoy a trashy novel.

Lmao do you have any idea how dumb this looks from the outside. Even the language you use... hahah.
You haven't exactly contributed anything to the discussion. All you've done is throw around insults and post random blog posts that also pretty much just throw around insults.
Honestly, stop entertaining him. Just report and move on, don't keep feeding him.
hasn't game journalism been a joke forever though, isn't this just another turd in the shitpile
It has, but the difference is that they've seemed to have teamed up with and are making money off a group of people with an anti-gaming agenda. In a symbiotic relationship, the game journalism sites are offering these people a stage and make money off their articles, and the anti-gaming people use their 'SJW' networks to organize large coordinated strikes to push their own agenda and silence the opposition. If the clickbait gaming sites from several years ago could be compared to petty thieves and pickpockets, the current scenario pretty much looks like full-on organized crime.

The point of the article is why are you people so surprise and angry? Do you get outraged at the quality of Celebrity news? No. Why not?
Actually I do. I have opinions on lots of things. I'm annoyed with the way paparazzi act towards fellow humans, I get saddened when I year tragedies in Ferguson, the Middle East, and in Europe. But we're not discussing those right. No amount of deflection, no amount of "what about x" on unrelated issues will make me stop feeling strongly about what appears to be obvious injustice.
I'm just saying why you care so much? Game journalism is a non-entity. Its not a professional industry - and anyone with a blog can become a game journalist. You can't fight immaturity with immaturity. You just make this all look one like big circus joke from the outside. [editline]31st August 2014[/editline]
Actually I do. Because people have excepted that Celebrity journalism is low-brow entertainment. Much like the gaming industry.
Honestly, stop entertaining him. Just report and move on, don't keep feeding him.
No, I want him to rise to the challenge. I want him to post arguments that aren't totally transparent. I want him to challenge our ideas without resorting to sophomoric personal jabs. I want actually discussion rather than a circle jerk of us going "yeah sjws are terrible, right guys?"
Game journalism is a non-entity. Its not a professional industry - and anyone with a blog can become a game journalist.
That's exactly the problem. It's not professional. It's shite and needs to be improved.
oh man pressing a crosswalk button (most of them placebos) what a madwoman
nodachi confirmed shill
It's pretty obvious he's a threadshitting expert who got banned and is now posting on an alt.
Yes all dissenters who don't follow the Party Line on this subject need to be removed. how else can we fight censorship and the ills within gaming journalism.
It's your job to educate yourself on the situation, if all you're gonna do is parrot what others say, while being blatantly wrong, then you're better off taking some time away from the discussion. There's plenty of evidence and reading/listening material in the OP, you should start there. Also werent you perma'd?
oh man pressing a crosswalk button (most of them placebos) what a madwoman
So fucking edgy
That's exactly the problem. It's not professional. It's shite and needs to be improved.
Sayre's Law: the conflicts surrounding video games are so bitter precisely because the stakes are so low. I mean, just honestly read through this thread and just examine the language used by posters. Like a country on the verge of social collapse or revolution. But in the end all this sound and fury is just aimed at bloggers lol.

Because people have excepted that Celebrity journalism is low-brow entertainment. Much like the gaming industry.
Why shouldn't I care? Gaming is a personal thing to me. Long lasting friendships have been built around gaming, and some of the most personal, important moments of my life have been built around gaming. It's a hobby that I care about deeply and seeing it get dragged through the mud makes me unhappy. I want to see this medium be treated as seriously as movies or books. I want to see gaming recognized as a respectable artistic medium. And if I want to see this happen I need to be critical of the institutions that are seen by the general public as nothing more than garbage. I heard lately that Reuters did audits on all the major gaming journalists sites. They found that they all scored on average lower than the celebrity sites. That's not right. (Take that with a grain of salt.) By criticizing what appears to be a lack of journalistic integrity, maybe we can make change happen to make gaming journalism more respectable. Is gaming journalism terrible? Absolutely. That doesn't it has to be.

But I understand that no one here actually wants anyone who doesn't parrot the official party line in this circle-jerk in this thread so I'll take my leave.
So do you have any argument that isn't semantics, and calling us big nerds for caring too much?
Linguistics can be very telling.
Linguistics can be very telling.
I'm glad we have your analysis to show us the way, professor
Linguistics can be very telling.
Well the OP has public/leaked chat logs, screencaps of conversations over social media, internet detective work, and confessions of people affected by this. And all you have to throw against us is a sourcless blog, and linguistic analysys of internet posts, because a few random dudes on a forum apparently represent an entire movement of people. Do you understand now, why people do not like you here?
Linguistics can be very telling.
What specifically? I admit that I'm as guilty of purple prose as the next guy. How could I improve my dialogue? What specifically sounds silly? How would you phrase what I'm saying? Where am I wrong? Show me no mercy. Be specific and clear. How else am I supposed to learn? How else are we supposed to learn?
