Also about what moot said, does someone have a screen pic of what the the thread in 4chan was that had gamergate, "this isn't about zoe quin, this is about corruption in video game journalism".
See the OP.
WELP, moot hired some SJW zoey supporters who are now banning anyone who even mentions any conspiracies, uses offensive language, or just general waifu talk. So now tons of people are leaving 4chan till they are removed and making 8chan. I'll believe it when I see him post his mod ID.
might as well post the KotakuInAction Livestream, TB is on at the moment.
Jesus Christ, three and a half hours and still going.
I'll believe it when I see him post his mod ID.
While I can't confirm he's a mod, I can confirm that this kinda shit is happening. People are banned almost instantly for just mentioning other places of discussion, this isn't about not wanting it on /v/, this is about fully censoring it. Astroturfing shills and goons are out in full force too, not sure if just bolstered by the news or they were in on it.
Anyway 8chan is the new hip place.

I just don't think we should jump and see that this guy is a mod.
Anyway 8chan is the new hip place.
Let's hope they improve the servers soon. Right now it's chugging so badly it feels like it's hosted on an old Amiga.
lol i had no idea moot was this much of a pussy so what are people doing about it, going to a different board that has over 400 separate ones? when is some real progress gonna get made because to be fair the only ones winning so far are your enemy i keep seeing them suceed where gamergate fails frequently. just getting people to talk about it isnt enough. how is that helping? nobody is caring at all, except people with no influence whatsoever. and the ones with the minor influence they have dont do much about it either
Let's hope they improve the servers soon. And during the king of /pol/ stream, the founder said he upgraded the servers twice and he was gonna upgrade them again today.
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/09/18/The-emails-that-prove-video-games-journalism-must-be-reformed
I had a thought. Maybe a bad one. You tell me: I remember a few years back when Patrick Klepek hit on some tough circumstances we all pitched in to get him a "feel better" gift. Anybody think something like that could be appropriate to address the circumstances that have been forced upon Zoe? Even if it's not monetary. Maybe a signed, joint letter of support from the Game Journo Pros. I know she's not a member of the group like Patrick was, but I do know that this is part of a broader theme of the industry losing talent to the toxic culture. And that's our business. In my mind, it's a joint show of solidarity to match the trolls' joint show of force ... The last thing I think we want is Zoe thinking she's under attack *alone.* The brain has a way of convincing you that silent people are against you. — Andrew Groen, WIRED contributor As the person I'm going to assume is the most irrationally optimistic person here, I like this idea. Small bits of kindness can do a lot, even when found in oceans of shit. — Dan Starkey, Eurogamer, GameSpot, Joystiq, Kotaku This is barely a game-industry story, no matter how some people want to frame it. This is a story about a person who happens to be in the game industry and their personal relationships (no matter how it may weave back into "the industry" and however poor the person's judgments may have been) and public expose of private materials by that person's partner as revenge, so I don't think we, as games press, should support furthering the story by commenting, editorializing or even allowing others to ruminate on it. — Andy Eddy Who here hasn't slept with a PR person or game developer? #AMIRITE — William O'Neal, editor-in-chief, TechRadar.com I like the signed letter of support idea. Even better if we can get some developers in on that. Anyone want to volunteer to draft something? — Kyle Orland, Ars Technica I'd also suggest that - if others think the letter is a good idea - we should do this entirely under the radar, organizing it through word-of-mouth and email rather than Twitter. I made the mistake earlier of publicly voicing support and in doing so drawing more attention to the issue. I'd rather not make that mistake again. — Andrew Groen, WIRED contributor As sympathetic as I am to the horrible harassment Zoe faced, I think this incident has raised enough questions about the incestuous relationship between press and developers already. — Jason Schreier, Kotaku Silver lining: Quinn is getting a bunch of new Patreon patrons today, apparently. — Kyle Orland, Ars Technica I would prefer not to be associated with this. It feels wrong to me. I think it feels very off to reach across the fence from journalist to subject in this way. I prefer professional distance, especially given the accusations being levied at us from outside. — Mike Futter, Game Informer
damn it wii60
Game informer is the most sane thing in that email list what is this insanity
I always loved Game Informer.
I don't find saying that nothing has been done after a full month of controversy to be an accurate statement.
ooh, controversy. look at the consequences it caused them oh right what consequences, jack shit has resulted from their retarded statements. im all for #gamergate but what has actually happened? really?

We have gotten alot done.
Well I mean, beyond getting the journos to flip their shit so hard they look like children.
ooh, controversy. look at the consequences it caused them oh right what consequences, jack shit has resulted from their retarded statements. im all for #gamergate but what has actually happened? really?
Changes of policy in response to the feedback at some popular websites, sites like Kotaku losing advertising sponsors after running articles insulting their userbase due to complaints in response to those articles, and allegations of fraud/racketeering in an indie game awards ceremony brought to light that are now being investigated by law enforcement. Just to name a few.
ooh, controversy. look at the consequences it caused them oh right what consequences, jack shit has resulted from their retarded statements. im all for #gamergate but what has actually happened? really?
You know what they say: "Rome wasn't built in a day" At some point, it will come toppling down on them. Maybe not this month, maybe not next month, maybe not even next year! But the seeds of change are already sown. Even if it isn't a "Kotaku fires 50 people in one go! Phil Fish to serve 20 years in jail! IndieCade busted for racketeering!", I will guarantee you that the smart people will distance themselves from the anti-GG crowd, and the anti-GG crowd can sit in their own circlejerk and wonder why no-one will take them seriously any more. One way or another, the good times for them are effectively over. Not while the stain of #GamerGate is attached to their name.
i might renew my gamestop card for game informer because of good moral compass (you have to get a card for a gameinformer subscription)
okay, yes they did. and? whats the outcome? did anything actually happen to them bar them saying a few words? did anyone get fired? disciplined? enlighten me. has anything actually happened, or is it still just words vs words. i know the escapist made a new ethics policy. i know some guy stepped down, but to my knowledge he had very little if anything to do with this at all.
I love how the only tangible victory is firings. Like, its totally not the long term we should look at. Naaaaah, we need to get people fired. Not kill off an already dying industry. [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] We've exposed and told the gaming industry, past the press that we support their decisions to do whatever the fuck they want. We've shown them that we'd rather go directly to these developers or watch youtubers, not read these sites.

That is just to name a few.
well forgive my pessimism if i still think this is very little for the amount of shit theyve pulled so far. like any normal company wouldve booted them the second they tweeted stuff like that.
i might renew my gamestop card for game informer because of good moral compass (you have to get a card for a gameinformer subscription)
I've had a subscription to game informer for a while now, I actually quite enjoy it. I don't go for the reviews or anything, but its still a pretty decent read. And they occasionally get some exceptionally good cover art.
well forgive my pessimism if i still think this is very little for the amount of shit theyve pulled so far. like any normal company wouldve booted them the second they tweeted stuff like that.
Exactly, these guys aren't gonna last. Their days are even more numbered because they write for videogames, most of these people that are Anti-GG don't even know the first thing about core games. These writers have shot themselves in the foot.
well forgive my pessimism if i still think this is very little for the amount of shit theyve pulled so far. like any normal company wouldve booted them the second they tweeted stuff like that.
They're not normal companies though. They're largely self managed or the people they answer to are also involved. So in many cases its a situation where there is no one only interested in the bottom line with the authority to step in and say "Cut that shit out." Though there was Randy Pitchford politely telling Anthony Burch to shut the fuck up. That one is still lovely.

Y'know, this all reminds me of that big debacle regarding video game violence a few decades back. We got the moderates with us then, and look what that did!
