If the evidence is sound, backgrounds shouldn't really matter
I really dont think we should be choosing sides in regards to reporters. Is the information factual,is the journalist being ethical,is there a conflict of interest that could skew the story.Milo is by no means a good journalist as pointed out by Hezzy the article on the Transgender is issue in my opinion very poor writing showcasing his opinion more than that of experts and people who actually handle those things in their life. If the people in the mailing list had not acknowledged it existed there would be questions about the validity of the claim. The fact of the matter is it does exist, take the facts from that story and do what you wish with them.

That really puts it in perspective. It being over the ebola tag is a bit surprising, but not terribly. But it beating out ISIS at points is impressive.
lol i had no idea moot was this much of a pussy
Rumour is, moot is broke as fuck after Canvas going to hell. He was in a room with various people from Gawker and such for hours. I think we can guess what happened.
Hezzy has written some pretty vile shit in the past. Therefor I conclude that his opinions and arguments are wrong by default. I strongly urge other readers to disregard his every word. Should he post an opinion in the future, the best course of action is to instantly dismiss it based on the past. Now that we've cleared that up, let's go back to discussing why I'm right and you're not.
Rumour is, moot is broke as fuck after Canvas going to hell. Why would he take a sack of money with strings attached when he has alternatives?

Sarcasm on the internet. No matter how thick you layer it on, people are still going to assume you are completely serious.
Are we still picking apart Milo? Even though the last time, a few pages back, no one was clearly able to show why and how does his political stance and orientation matters in the present issue? Yeah, sure, he poses with Iron crosses, dead jews, probably has a Hitler shrine hidden in the basement? Okay, I get that. But it doesn't matter, it has nothing to do with Gamergate, literally nothing at all. He hasn't entered this issue yesterday, you know, and it hasn't been shown that his agenda (if he even has one in this) somehow endangers or influences the movement. The only thing I can see so far, is that they give us supposed 'negative publicity', sorta, Milo and Baldwin. As if we have such a positive image in media, right? Bunch of abusive misogynistic neckbeards, basement dwellers who hate all things progressive.
Sarcasm on the internet. No matter how thick you layer it on, people are still going to assume you are completely serious.
no i mean your sarcasm is kind of literally how it works. when somebody has a history of really offensive and vile opinions, you don't act like their position is the same as someone who hasn't. especially when the only opinion he's reverted on is the one about gamers. it is very likely he still believes all that other offensive stuff. so it's a really bad move to associate with the guy considering he is the embodiment of what we're being falsely labelled as. suddenly it's 'oh he's okay, he's helping us right now, disregard his opinions' even though he's outspokenly anti-trans, among other things. you don't see how that paints us as entitled gamers who only care about video games? 'fuck those other issues, they're not important right now, because this dude is pro gamers' is not the people we want to be.
Sounds like bullshit. 4chan used to do donation drives in the past. Why would he take a sack of money with strings attached when he has alternatives?
moot himself said he hates donations, that they're unreliable in the long run and can easily be withheld if they go through paypal (because of the content regularly posted on 4chan). He's been bleeding money for a long, long time, and only started breaking even when he opened up 4chan passes and letting people run their own ads.
We enter a contentious issue here who do we accept and give support too.Do we discriminate based on past actions ,attitudes ,and opinions or do we look the other way or do we take the article for its factual value and move on ?
We enter a contentious issue here who do we accept and give support too.Do we discriminate based on past actions ,attitudes ,and opinions or do we look the other way or do we take the article for its factual value and move on ?
it's more like we're discriminating on current opinions. if he was born again and decided all his world views were wrong, sure, you show the dude forgiveness, because that's what it's all about. but considering he still holds those beliefs firmly (unless anybody can point out proof he doesn't?), we're discriminating for very good reasons.

Anywhere? I haven't seen much "oh hey let's drag Milo to the top!" He's a media person, he already has far more connections than most of the other people. He's already at the top. And how do his offensive opinions matter? Ones that have literally nothing to do with the issue? You really think that our image is going to change somehow if we distance from him, even if that's even somehow possible? Like, you actually do think that? It doesn't matter if the label we're draped in is false or true. That's not the point. The stance the movement took from the very start was "politics don't matter, listen to facts", everyone stood by it, calling out everyone who brought politics into it. And now politics suddenly do matter. Because reasons.
Seems a lot of people think a good o'l fashioned ad-hominem attack against a person's character is justified because they disagree with them about certain things. "He's a literal nazi!" "You're all fat basement dwelling neckbeards!" "They're an insane marxist SJW cult who want 1984 to literally happen!" "She's a whore who slept with five guys!" Both sides of the gamergate issue seem rampant with this bullshit, it's fucking stressful to deal with and it's a big part of why I haven't really been willing to try to play a more active role in the movement. We shit on Max for being left, we shit on Milo for being right, what are we accomplishing by shitting all over the place? Making ourselves feel like we're better than the people we shit on? Is that an accomplishment?

What happened to separating the shitty opinions from the persons work?
I haven't enjoyed any of Tim's games, but that said, his recent displays don't make me want to play Broken Age any less. that game looks cool plenty of talented dudes have shitty opinions. have you ever heard tarantino's fave movie picks?
Didn't we already come to the consensus that at the moment, the only thing we can trust about him is the Breitbart article he posted? After all, being skeptical is a good thing.
I've been pretty silent on the whole matter, but after the insane censorship on 4chan it's past breaking point for me. Spending the past 8 years on 4chan and seeing a rollercoaster in terms of board quality, this is the hardest I've seen 4chan fall. It's pretty disgusting. Seeing how hard gaming journalism sites are twisting the story in their favor and hiding anything to the contrary hurts. I used to love gaming and playing with friends but so much about it has degraded it's beginning to become unavoidable. Everywhere I'm reminded what it's become. And seeing the abuse people are getting for simply asking questions and wanting some discussion on the matter is horrible. Especially by the same groups that claim to be against the very things they're doing to them. This feels like a surreal dream. It's insane.

And he is active on twitter using the same hashtag as gamers and proposing to be digging up info on their behalf.
It's hardly an ad-hominem attack if the dude shares views with nazis, is a self admitted nazi and dresses in nazi regalia. Dude is a nazi.
Ian Miles Cheong(that stillgray guy) shared views with the Nazis, but that was before he got bitten by a SJW.
It's hardly an ad-hominem attack if the dude shares views with nazis, is a self admitted nazi and dresses in nazi regalia. Sure he's a nazi. But that doesn't make his opinions on things outside of politics any less valid.

Ask yourself why a dude with those kinds of opinions is even digging up this info in the first place. It'd be surprised if it's not because of his aforementioned offensive opinions. If he's got bad motivation, we should care about it. I do care about it.

However that's where it ends, at his contribution.

But outright demanding dissociation is too far and is uncalled for at present moment. So far his opinion did not show signs of having effect on the issue at hand, and that's what matters. And yeah, I maintain that his views on homosexuality, trans* issues, whatever - have nothing to do with gamergate. A guy who thinks that all jews should die can also easily have an opinion that journalists shouldn't get close to their subjects of attention. People often have a character that isn't one-dimensional.
