Working on a non-GG affiliated video explaining why Zoe Quinn is abusive, via the Zoepost logs. I'm doing it in parts. The first video is like 50 minutes, 20 of which just making sure we're all on the same page that a.) I'm a survivor, and b.) what emotional abuse actually is. At times I feel like I'm the only one who thinks threatening with suicide is fucking despicable. Because it happens everywhere. "Oh you leave me or blame me for my fuckups and I'll kill myself!" well fuck. The worst of all, there's nothing to say here without sounding "fucking do it", and if there's a chance they're serious? I heard that shit once myself, not even directed at me (one of my friends had an emotional terrorist for girlfriend who'd do that IN PUBLIC) and I wanted to hit the fucker. And how many times that sort of things happened behind the closed doors?

(how abusive/manipulative people can take advantage of more naive/goodhearted people and how it can be particularly damaging when those types of people naturally gravitate towards each other, as it happens with social justice activism as you described)

Totalbiscuit mentioned during his Wasteland 2 stream, that he's pretty much pro-gamer and the "gamers are dead" articles are just "poking the bear". He feels responsible for his audience and the reason why personalities rather than games journalists are successful right now is that instead of pleading for full disclosure they tend to "close ranks" and "fire back". He said that he planned a round table with some journalists but as soon as that breitbart article popped up they all declined. Actually gonna record that audio from his twitch VOD and put it up on Youtube. Shouldn't take too long.

The moment they try to touch something on the scale of Call of Duty or similar, the suits with the money will just laugh them out of the room and close the money valve. The video game press is so volatile in the first place because the phenomena of "enthusiast press" (Youtube people like Totalbiscuit and others, independent bloggers and such), people who do things the gaming press used to out of sheer enthusiasm, is siphoning readers away, because surprise surprise, people can feel when someone's interest in the games they play is genuine and they tell it like it is, while 'legit' vidogame press has been filling up with people whom I feel only work there because they couldn't get a "real" journalistic job because they were just not up to snuff (as these events showcase it clear as day), and they figured that 'hey I played videyogayms, I can write about them'. These people are disconnected from their gamer readers, and instead are mostly connected to a crowd that does not care about games, just pats them on the back for their opinions. This crowd however, will not keep gaming sites afloat, as gaming press will soon learn.

If you had told me a year ago that Facepunch would value free speech higher than 4chan, I would've laughed in your face and told you to get lost. The appeal of 4chan has always been that you can go there and say whatever you want. It's always been at the forefront of discussion. Without that, what is the point?

I wonder if this whole thing with leaving 4chan will work out? 8Chan honestly seems really promising. I've been visiting 4chan for 5 years now. Everything i loved about it, the raw, unfiltered discussion, is falling down. I never thought i'd see the day that i'd be banned for calling someone a candyass. I wonder if moot thought losing 4chan was worth getting his dick sucked.

I get the feeling /v/ is suddenly full of people who went there JUST to debate and/or troll in favor of feminism, anti-gamergate, etc. Anyone else? I don't know if it's because all the people who were pro-gamergate fucked off to 8chan, or if it's actually a bunch of people going there to argue.

It could also very well be trolls trolling trolls. I know a good portion of anons would probably go back to /v/ just to take the piss out of feminists by posing as outrageous ones

I think I can understand that moot wants to drop all these shit behind so he's killing off 4chan. But then now they say moot is cooperating with tumblr and Anita. I really don't see the reasoning behind that.

If nothing else I want the wikipedia article on this whole thing to be accurate, there's nothing I would dislike more than gamergate going down in web history as a primarily misogynist movement.

It's not just corruption, I believe the main problem is that the western culture (especially America as it seems to be quite the epicenter of it) is trying to bring up political correctness into everything. I guess it's because most of us are living easy lives, and some individuals are so bored that they'd likely find the most asinine thing to complain about. (Remember the whole "objectification of women in vidya/comics/art" crap for instance?). Internet gave them an easy way to express their opinions, despite how counter-productive it is. And a real pity that 4chan has gone downhill lately with that political correctness crap, especially on /co/. I've been a long-time lurker in this place (on /v/ and /ic/ too). I'm impressed that 4chan managed to go from "active" to "civil war" within a handful of days. What's going on now is a case of how to never moderate, especially when you're known as a bastion of free speech. $10 says he's going to sell 4chan soonish.
