Ah, Ace Combat. When 4chan fell I felt a bit of what Garuda Team must've felt when they lost Gracemeria. Fucking Estovakians.
a man named andrew who works for a data company received an email from Silverstring Media to his public email.

Is there anything from the stream I might have missed? I'm at school so I don't know if it's still going or has ended.

everything interesting that happened on the stream has been posted about in the past few pages of this thread.
most important though:
becca of kotakuinaction reached based status attempting to converse politely and calmly with a troll for as long as she could, while blowing him out of the fucking water
evidence to investigate has surfaced involving silver string media's request from a social data service to track positive tweets regarding the #gamergate hashtag.

What in the blazes? This is just infuriating... and when I say that, that's probably an understatement.
(you should check out that tumblr beyond the post, by the way, perhaps submit your own harassment pictures.)

Jesus, I think this shows how insane anti-Gamergate people are.
On a side note, if you have any questions for TFYC's contest winner, she's doing an AMA in kotakuinaction atm

Quick write-up I did explaining, from a cultural marxist & leftist standpoint, why Silverstring and their "gamers are dead" campaign are really terrible: https://storify.com/SdoctmdPlays/why-gamers-are-dead-is-destined-to-fail
This might be the first legitimate cultural marxist interpretation of Silverstring? I mean I identify as one. Most of these SJ folks are no where near being cultural marxists, they all think capitalist industries are amazing and have no idea how to actually create counter-hegemonies. It's really bad, most contemporary social justice advocates focus on a neutered version of cultural marxism lite.
a.) institutions use new changes to their own advantage i.e. gain more power b.) institutional change faces resistance w/out cultural change
Sounds exactly like what Silverstring did, jumped on the SJ bandwagon in order to become the authority on it when they were losing popularity to Youtubers, and faced ridiculous resistance when they fucked it up so badly.
From my perspective there is enough cultural support for plenty of SJ-supported changes in video games, more diverse representation is a non-issue for most people (provided it isn't straight tokenism) and no-one is going to support bland action movie stereotypes over some actually decent writing. While the specifics of how this is achieved is one issue, packaging it together with many other issues which don't have the same cultural support such as trigger warnings is where most of the resistance comes from.
Then you have people antagonise the issue as they perceive the other side as irrational for rejecting mundane things like more diverse representation, everything splits into a partisan issue and the bipartisan issues that they supported originally get lost in the shitstorm. Keeping in mind what actually has cultural support and not using that as an opening to push additional issues, that would certainly help.
eron's parents, milo, and jontron were just doxxed, quote: "dont fuck with zoe or anita or this list grows". looking at the pastebin now, i dare not share it. it was created today.

That's some pretty piss-poor dox judging from the lengths of each person.
Could someone please explain who Silverstring are? From their page, they seem to be making games...? I'm not sure how they really fit in with all this.

I like game mechanics in understanding it in it's elementary form from chess to fps.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?
Anyone have update on the Eron legal situation?
It's fucking disgusting that his gofundme was shut down.
I wasn't able to watch Whiskey's stream, is there a YouTube/Podcast link of this debate?
I want to ask a few questions but I don't want to sound like a concern troll(I have been following this somewhat, but not entirely because college). Who can I hit up with a PM?
Just ask in here. We're not going to go apeshit over any question you may have.

Alright, hold on.
[editline]24th September 2014[/editline]
So, one question I have is this. I have been wondering if it was justified of Eron to create the zoe post. Because I get the feeling that some people view Eron as careless because Zoe has recieved harassment following the creation of the post (I think. Some people might say she used a victim complex but I don't really know anymore.).
(As for me, I believe Eron was indeed abused, this an apology ahead of time for the wording below.)
And furthermore, is it justifiable at all to out an alleged abuser on the internet? Is it an indiscriminate action which causes inevitably some internet users to lynch on people that have been outed regardless whether they did right or wrong or whether they were man or female?
Because people keep saying it's not okay to out men and not women (Or the other way around and then rage about it regardless), but is it even okay to out anyone and have them lynched on indirectly?
I don't know if Reimu covered this in his video or not, because frankly, I can't spend too much time reading on large topics, because I need my time to be invested in various activities(I sometimes tend to procrastinate and read this thread, but I am trying to avoid doing such things.). Thanks.
I got to watch the Whiskey Grenade stream, it sounds like there was one hell of a smack down.
Ah, Ace Combat. When 4chan fell I felt a bit of what Garuda Team must've felt when they lost Gracemeria. Fucking Estovakians.
Some of these claims make it sound like something out of Ace Combat 5 too, come to think about it. But just not as pro-peace and cheesy. Lord of Boxes just gave me a thought when he posted AC5's soundtrack for thread music.
Just look at 4chan and /v/. It's practically Razgriz.
Yes, i know that claim is a bit wild and will fly over anyone not familiar with Ace Combat. But bare with me for a moment.
When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals its self, first as a dark demon. As a demon, it uses its power to rain death upon the land, and then it dies. However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns, this time as a great hero.
Okay, so maybe not as dark and violent. If this was the case, then /v/ is basically Razgriz's neet Sister but still, bare with me. In the past 4chan was seen as a evil internet boogyman or whatever the term they decided to use to some people, some people still think that. And now it turns out that 4chan is actually doing more good for gaming and perhaps the world than harm. So in a sense, it's returned from it's slumber as a "great hero" who looks a bit like Vivian... You might want to add the shift from 4chan to 8chan as when it "dies" before coming back again but yeah, that' pretty much sums it all up.
And then, suddenly:[sp]Fuckin' Belkans![/sp]

I do believe he was justified to post about the abuse he went through in his relationship with LW, but the people who harassed her over it aren't justified to have done so.
Abuse articles are always click baits, and a good example is the sexual harassment filed against the CEO of Stardock, which later turned out to be false. Kotaku jumped on that news and exploded everything about it. Not only did Brad Wardell(Stardock CEO) himself get death threats, death threats were also made to his wife(as well as rape) and his kids were bullied as well. After it was proven false, Kotaku never came out and publicly apologized to Brad(because "it is always possible for all men to do sexual harassment"), they just left an update saying "we fucked up, but we're not going to admit it because he's a man". Now whenever this is searched, kotaku's article is always one of the first results, and Brad still gets harassed because the person reading never bothered to read more about the incident.
It's the other way around. It's never okay to out women because apparently women don't lie. A good example of this is Skyler Page who actually did sexually harass one of his staff members. When one of the victim's friends went to twitter about this she got asked for proof about this and all hell broke loose about it.
Lynch mobs are never okay. They always just add fuel to the fire and make every sane person look bad.

I hope this helped answer anything you had. If there's anything else you want to know or want an opinion on, don't be afraid to ask here.
Thanks.
But how can we really know if that what happens in necessarily because of double standards? It doesn't seem like I can actually prove those double standards exist just by mentioning a few cases that support the narrative I'm trying to convey.
I was trying to find out whether it is the accuser's fault whether the accused is harassed because of the accusation on the internet. It is justifiable to report abuse, but is it okay to report it on the open internet and expect no negative consequences, despite whether the accusations are true or not? I was wondering whether he could have other alternatives to handling his private life.
Whether or not the way this whole mess started was justified or not isn't relevant to the discussion anymore to be honest. I do understand that you might have genuine curiosity on the matter, so it's fine asking, but it really annoys me when the opposition uses the questionable ethics of Eron as an argument against the criticism of the "journalists".
And I do think it's justifiable. But only because the information provided is in public interest related to the nepotism of the industry. If it was "just" his ex-girlfriend cheating on him, I doubt I'd feel the same way.
[...]
Note:This is a bad as fuck troll account, only reason I'm posting it is because this might get used against us by idiots not paying attention.
Thinking about this a bit more:
You really shouldn't spread this garbage, especially if you mess up as badly as with the thumbnails and make it non-obvious.
In the end you're just spreading misinformation and noise which at best doesn't help.
The exception would be if someone important actually thought it was legit, in that case it becomes not completely irrelevant.
Thanks.

Yeah, dude. I Agree that what Eron did was in kind of a grey area, morally. Nobody talks about it because what Zoe did was worse, and then the sparks of what she did set fire to the powder keg of bad journalism and all that.
