It's important to remember that our conversation being public helped create boundaries. Doubly so because I can look out for the patterns she is showing in real time and disengage if I feel unsafe.

Thats actually really telling, hell look at any e-sport as well, they are so fucking diverse and so many of the teams are friends with each other. Plus those are the type of people who really just give a fuck about playing games, I think thats the most important thing, they just want to play games.
Considering most of the people in the "journalism" industry are white (a tidal wave that will blind you probably), it's not too surprising that the audience at a talk that "journalists" go to are white.
More diversity in gaming applies to the games, the developers and the critics, not just the games.
