It is a real shame that the majority of the people using #stopgamergate2014 are people who had no idea what gamergate is about, or are not willing to do a little research and come up with their own opinion.
The problem I have with the whole thing is that my Twitter feed is full of anti-GG (and a little bit of GG), but 95% of those tweets are absolutely useless in every possible way.
"@xxx is a huge asshole"
"<link to article saying Xxxx Yyyy is a huge asshole> Every GGer/anti-GGer has to read this!"
"I can't believe @xxx/group xxx does this"
"<link to screenshot of troll doing trolling> this troll represents the entire movement he stands for. Unbelievable!"
Oh, and my favorite:
"<link to article that seems to be perfectly fine to me> WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING!!!1111" Thanks, you make a very compelling argument /s
In the last 24h I've seen exactly two non-idiotic tweets about all of this. This and this. I don't exactly agree with the later forum post, but it's still a well thought out post. Especially compared to all the other shit I read on Twitter nowadays.
What I'm really missing though are tweets about the actual motive of GG. Not a single one in days now.

Excellent site detailing the ethics issues and how they emerged over time. I'd start linking it to people who look like they'd actually be interested in learning whats going on.

This. And I hate it even more because they usually come from people I'd like to follow (Love, by example; I like her VNs and she used to post interesting shit about them).
Ah well, it was good while it lasted...

Are these tweets still in both person's timelines? I can't find them now.
You'd think Rogen would be a little slower to jump on the "oh its misogynistic" bandwagon given how he was thrown under the bus earlier this year.
A huge part of the problem comes, in my view, from basing a movement around a hashtag. All someone has to do to adhere to the movement is add a hashtag to a tweet. I personally know of like 2 people who are just using the gamergate hashtag to troll. At least one of them is part of the GNAA.

Seemed more like Rogen just telling Baldwin to relax, and probably thinks its silly because hes in show business, not gaming, and ultimately probably knows very little.
Surprised by their choice of interviewees today. Looks like they do want to hear both sides after all.

That's indeed a problem, but at the same time what else is there to do. There's no way for GGers to reach a wide audience without such... less than foolproof means. We don't exactly have a lot of coverage in the media. Which makes it all even worse, the ones with all the media standing against us.
This was one-sided from the get-go. Tackling corruption and nepotism (and various misc garbage while we're at it) in fucking media is never going to be super effective. They have audience, and we have... each other, pretty much. They can blow each and every threat from GG out of proportion, no matter how dodgy and petty, and completely just ignore what people on our side get. The image wider audience receives is pretty 'obvious'.

Just realized how deafeatist that sounds.

INTERVIEWER IS THE SAME GUY FROM YESTERDAY, BUT HE'S BEING A LOT MORE RUDE AND INTERRUPTIVE!

Realistically somebody is going to do something stupid soon, false flag or not, whether it GG or AGG, it's going to be the end.
This can all end in a single moment if not handled carefully and like adults, which doesn't seem to be the case for either side.
This stream is just plain gold. This is just what we needed!
ive seen people on tumblr i follow reblog stupid shit thinking its funny basically painting GG people as massive neckbeards hating on women. i just mostly ignore and move on since every time you talk to them they either say "well its just videogame drama" or "well this (sjw feminist blog) says that they are all like that and i dont want to listen". i even told one person who said that it was awful that a friend of theirs got doxxed and abused for a joke that was seen as offensive when it wasn't that the anti-gg side is doing the same exact shit, They didn't give a shit.
Its fucking bullshit how some fucking nobody who mysteriously gets a death threat is able to appear on television and be victimized, while other people on pro GG side are having the same if not worse happening to them with little to no recognition outside of 8chan or here.
It's all about the connections people have. Brianna or someone close to her is probably linked to a PR rep somewhere who saw an easy news story to milk for cash.
In my own circle of friends, I have a few people silently supporting AGG but they don't dare mention it: ever since the beginning I have been proving people wrong and convincing people that GG is not just a hive of misogyny. Only a few remain, and I will probably just tell them to fuck off because this is not the first time they reject reason in favour of blind adherence to bullshit. As for the rest, some of my friends would consider themselves part of SJ and are extremely disappointed with how their communities are acting. Some have even been rejected and banned like Reimu was by SRS. One of them got banned from a knitting community simply for not agreeing that Zoe was completely innocent, which is unfortunate because she made a lot of money selling dyed wool and now she has nowhere to go. All her previous contributions, the nights she stayed up helping people, the patterns she taught... all of it gone because she disagreed with the narrative once.
That was a good stream. How much do you want to bet these women will not get any attention from AGG after this?

I couldn't sleep so I woke up early.
Saw the huff link being hosted by kop, clicked the link, started within seconds.
Saw what would be put, Ness using his bat in smash.
I can't believe I did another spit take at the end like the huff past before.
Time to reinforce my understanding of English-speaking culture: guys, what the fuck do people mean when they say "I don't mean to interrupt you"? Most of the time I hear these words, it means "shut up, I'm talking over you now".
How does that makes sense

Generally "I don't mean to interrupt you... but I'm going to anyway"
I haven't been paying much attention to this whole thing, but got linked to that stream. Jesus H Christ that guys' arguments got blown out the water.

It's a polite way to do something rude. You know, like "no offense".
Cool. Because on it's own that phrase seems really stupid. "I don't meant to interrupt you" - great, shut up then?

Use the archive.today link: https://archive.today/iabOW. Don't give em more views for literal clickbait.
I am not surprised that Sessler is still trying to be relevant and that Sterling is trying to spin it if the Escapist got attacked by the pro-GG crowd instead of the reality where rabid SJWs jumped on them for not disallowing any kind of discussion on the topic. Keep on digging your grave, Jimbo.
It's funny how they don't mention that thousands of those tweets were actually bots, from a botnet from Indonesia and Malaysia.

Also, that is some convinient timing after Jemma told on the HuffPost debate that Kotaku is one of the corrupt sites #gamergate is taking a stand against.
You know, the longer Anita is around the more I think people realize she is just a fucking idiot. I mean holy shit.
Does anyone that actually takes her word verbatim actually enjoy or play video games?
Her series attacked the low hanging fruit first by going after mostly older games and talking about the "Damsel in Distress" trope, which is ubiquitous not just in games but in most media since gender roles are still very much entrenched in society. In these early videos, I wouldn't necessarily take her word verbatim because I thought a lot of her modern examples were off the mark, but the overall point about the trope and how common it was in older games (when nearly everyone involved in the development and marketing process were male) seemed accurate. This made me question the worth of a series that only gets about half, at best, of it's point across but the conversation it generated seemed to make up for this.
Disclaimer: When I say worth, I mean in terms of educational value; I never gave money to the project and seeing where it has led, am very happy I did not.
The recent ones about "Women as background characters" though are just right over the edge. It gets fundamental aspects of not just a few but basically every game she covers wrong. She goes over the top for her demands on creativity, explicitly saying that scenery such as strip clubs and brothels shouldn't exist in video games despite any possibility of character they could bring to the experience. This is where her videos ultimately lost me as someone who enjoys and plays a lot of video games, because it feels like she is completely misrepresenting them.
